Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) ✦ Full-Length Watchalong Reaction

What a ridiculous (but super fun) movie. 😅 I do talk in the intro about what I know going into the movie, since I was unable to avoid all spoilers for this one sadly.

I'm so curious on the rewatchability of this movie, especially compared to the other Deadpools. I feel like it will be the most enjoyable only the first time, for me at least. It's interesting to see if this one will actually hold up at all. I can see it being an insane product of its time in 10-20 years, though.

Please enjoy! Thanks so much for watching. [Direct link here.]

Yeah I wasn’t as big a fan of this one as I was for one or even two. My favourite has to be Deadpool one

I enjoyed this movie but more for what it does for the MCU storyline now and in the future. Since Spiderman 3 was such a huge success the Marvel Bosses have leaned into it and they now seem to be more willing to bring back past franchise characters. On the shirt topic. I love the Tahiti it's a magical place shirt because it's a joke that only AOS fans would know so you can quickly find fans of the show wearing it. This movie also feels like a good bye to the fox universe and if you think about it serves as the Endgame for the Xmen Storyline. The x men origin wolverine movie (which is the first movie chronologically I think for Logan story) has wolverine and Deadpool and serves as a cool beginning and this movie now serves as the end in a sort of full circle way.

I have a theory that there is essentially nothing the MCU can do now to really recapture the "magic" of the "phase 1" movies. And it doesn't have anything to do with quality of writing or "political correctness" or anything like that. It's that the world they're building on is now completely unrelatable to us in the real world. The earlier movies had the benefit that the normal humans of the MCU world viewed superheroes as these wondrous things. And so the audience felt that wonder, because viewers naturally relate to the emotions of the people on screen. ... But now, because everything is a "shared" universe, and every movie co-exists with the previous one, the current MCU version of earth is so convoluted and overstuffed, that the regular people of the MCU literally don't find any wonder at all about all these crazy things. So it's just empty spectacle for us, the viewers, too. So, yes, you'll get occasional smash hits like Deadpool Vs. Wolverine. But I feel like they're one-off gimmicks, because they're not founded on anything "solid." It's basically a cameo-fest, fan-service movie. But they can't keep relying on that. At a certain point, that novelty wears off, and viewers want to be emotionally moved again with a relatable story set in a world we recognize.

Deadpool 1 has the credits at the beginning...the credits here are very much in the same spirit and style of the opening to Deadpool.

Obviously, you should handle it however you want, but I do think the Blade movies in particular are worthy of reactions. My thought would be, even if you are going to move away from comic book movie reactions for some unspecified period of time, well, you already watched this, so there's no longer any pressing reason to watch them anytime soon -- maybe in six months or something one of them every other month would be a fun exclusive that doesn't have to go to YouTube. But that's just the first idea that popped into my head. The joke "There's only ever going to be one Blade" is because Marvel announced they'd cast Blade in 2019 and they still have not managed to make the movie. In that period, they've hired five writers who have worked on at least two scripts and two directors, and come close to production at least twice -- so close that costumes that were made for the more recent abandoned version of the movie were repurposed by Ryan Coogler for Sinners. Of course, the joke is also wrong, because there was a live-action TV show after the movies, so there's already been two Blades even before we get to the MCU version. The store Liefeld's Just Feet is a reference to Rob Liefeld, the co-creator of Deadpool (and Cable), who is famous for his...artistic choices. If you Google "Rob Liefeld Captain America," you can see a very famous illustration of him with a particularly absurd physique.

This one doesn't hit as hard on the rewatch for me - I didn't like how Deadpool's crew just wasn't a part of the majority of it, because I really need a bigger team to balance out just how much Wade talks. Hugh was incredible but I definitely got a little Ryan fatigue like halfway into my 2nd watch.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but to me there’s no way the previous Deadpool movies compare to this one. Wolverine alone elevates it to the top of the list and for me personally…this was the best version of Wolverine we’ve seen! Love this movie!!! ♥️

Henry Cavill was in the movie, because a lot of people were fancasting him for the new Logan of the X-Men in the MCU. Hugh Jackman is great, but I can definitely see Cavill as the new Logan.

This is kind of the Avengers: Endgame of Deadpool movies, but instead of turning the emotional payoff to 11, it turns the stupid funny to 11. Little bit of a waste of an awesome villain (and Emma Corrin), but this movie's so fun, I just don't care. Also: Matthew Macfadyen.

I love this movie a lot, even if the story is not the strongest. The chemistry between Hugh and Ryan was great and I think it was a fun way to introduce Deadpool to Disney. Most of all it was a banger farewell to pre MCU era of Marvel I grew up with (It was for the Fox Universe but I couldnt help but get emotional for all the others too). The Good Riddance Montage definitely made me tear up in theaters. It was a nice moment thinking back to watching Blade when I was too young, the first X-Men movie with an elementary school friend of mine, Spider-Man 2 which was the very very last screening in a super old theater in my hometown before they closed it, Fantastic Four on TV at my grandparents house, Daredevil, The Punisher, the other X-Men movies, Elektra, the list goes on. If I wouldn't have so much nostalgia for Marvel this would have fallen flatter for me for sure.

I'll be honest I didnt do the watch along, I decided I couldnt sit through this movie again so I went to end of video too see you're thoughts. For me the desecration of Logans grave put a bad taste in my mouth, I know its Deadpool but still I thought it was distasteful. I just saw it as a movie to get Deadpool and Wolverine in a movie together with a bunch of cameos, didn't find much of it funny. Many scenes just over done. I noticed you didn't mention the villain on you're outro, for me it was a waste of a powerful villain which I would liked to see in a future movie not a movie like this. Give me Deadpool 1 any day of the week.

I totally agree with your assessment of DP3. It was fun, and the music choices were great, but the story was pretty meh. I'd rank them in the same order as the releases. 1, then 2, then 3.

Yes!!! Best Saturday night ever! It’s hard to believe that it’s been roughly over a year since we got this movie. 5:59 Yup. This is exactly why I’m so glad you saw Loki season 2 before going into this one. I can think of a few reactors who unfortunately didn’t do that and have yet to check out Loki’s latest journey. Sorry for the super long comment, but I swear it’s a fun one. Let me start by saying… 23:54 lol hahahahahahaha!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 30:52 Uh, hello? List of other great things to emerge from Canada: Alessia Cara, Mark Lee, Jim Carrey, Michael J. Fox, Willam Shatner, Mike Myers, Keanu Reeves, Hayden Christensen, Rachel McAdams, Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion, Devery Jacobs, Sandra Oh, Ali Gatie, Henry Lau, Majid Jordan, Shawn Ashmore, Simu Liu, Iman Vellani, and the late Alex Trebek. The list goes on. Let’s not forget Canadian reactors. There’s you, Jen Murray, Timothee, See Jane Go TV, Popcorn In Bed, CineBinge, and Shoshana from The Perfect Mix. By the way, Shoshana says “shoutout to all Canadians!” 43:27 FLAME ON!!! While we may no longer have Joel Miller in The Last of Us, we still get to have Pedro Pascal lead the new Fantastic Four in First Steps. Joseph Quinn who you know best as Eddie Munson from Stranger Things season 4 joins the team as the new Human Torch. (By the way, Joseph has also been casted in an upcoming Beatles biopic from Columbia Pictures. He’ll be portraying the late George Harrison.) Channing Tatum put on a Cajun accent for the role because Gambit is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. The costume he wears is definitely comic accurate, but it looks better in the 90’s cartoon. Jennifer Garner portrayed Elektra about 20 years ago with Ben Affleck when he suited up as Daredevil. Her response to Wade’s condolences is a nod to her divorce from Ben. Yeah, they were married for a while. Something I really appreciated about this movie was the opening credits. Deadpool 1 and 2 had the credits at the very end and I was never a fan of that, but this time they acknowledged everyone just like James Gunn did with the Guardians franchise. The quality took me by surprise because this is a Deadpool movie. Deadpool 1 and 2 were made to intentionally look like total CGI, but with the MCU involved they had to raise the bar. It paid off more than well. What I was most excited for was when you got to see Laura return. Do you remember that Dafne Keen was only a little girl when she worked on Logan 2017? She just turned 21, and after all these years she still got it. Dafne had doubts as to whether she would be able to portray Laura again. Now that she’s back, she actually wants to reprise her role. Also, she’s still wearing the sunglasses from before. By the way, this is the second X-Men film to have Bye Bye Bye. The first one was X-Men 2. That wasn’t Ryan dancing though. This was a pro dancer named Nick Pauley. He needed to come up with the choreo as fast as he could. They ended up calling him Dancepool. We have a few members of the Deadpool Corps to acknowledge: 1.) first, Ladypool was voiced by Ryan’s real life wife Blake Lively. Their kids Inez and Olin got to appear as Kidpool and Babypool. 2.) Cowboypool is probably my favorite variant. He was voiced by Matthew McConaughey. 3.) Headpool, the floating skull, was voiced by Nathan Fillion. He was also Master Karja in Guardians Volume 3. 4.) Most of the Deadpools are Canadian, but the most Canadian of them all is Canadapool. He wears a black Deadpool costume with a Canadian flag on his chest. 5.) Zenpool is probably the most unique among the corps. He’s the one in a grey-blue robe shooting blowdarts. 6.) the one with the Welsh flag is Welshpool. He’s portrayed by English soccer player Paul Mullin. He currently plays in the Welsh soccer club Wrexham FC which is co-owned by Ryan. You can see Paul in the documentary series Welcome to Wrexham. 7.) Tom Holland’s brother Harold got to join the corps as his own take on the character. They call him Haroldpool. * That reminds me: the next MCU Spider-Man film is in production right now. It’s called A Brand New Day, and it’s being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. He previously directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. It’ll hit theatres late July of next year as part of phase six.
