It took a long time just for them to even kiss in the movie. 😂 So much so that I thought maybe Dolly had a no-real-kissing policy since she had already been with her husband for 16 years at that point.

2025-11-12 19:43:16 +0000 UTCApparently Burt and Dolly did NOT get along during the making of this movie. Burt had a reputation for being a little egomaniacal and hard to work with. However, you can't really tell in the finished film. I enjoy it, although I wish I liked it a little better -- even if it's tethered to a true story and has to end the way it does, I think there was probably a more satisfying version of that ending (although part of it is that while the two characters seem like great friends, I am not as convinced it's true love).
