In this episode, Captain Winters gets promoted to Executive Officer of 2nd Battalion and no longer has command of Easy Company. He is transferred to Battalion HQ and tasked with administrative duties which include typing field reports. He finds it difficult to relinquish control of Easy Company and focus on his new tasks.

It wasn't just E Co. that moved into the Ardennes to defend Bastogne. It was the entire 101st Airborne Division.

The soldier who brought the ammo at the end of the episode was Jimmy Fallon, host of The Tonight Show. I can see how you could mistake him for Ted from HIMYM.

Winters' ability to see his company for the individual men is one of my favorite things about him. The veteran in the intro talked about how important that skill is for a leader, and I love that you really went in depth into that in the outro. He knows them all as people more than just soldiers, knows what makes them tick, and knows the unique approach for helping each of them when they're in need. Even recognizing the risk of shooting the prisoners by the one soldier escorting them back, so he gave him only one bullet

In addition to what Pascal wrote, part of the Allies plan was to take deep water ports along the way to assist with providing supplies to the troops as they advanced. However, when the Germans retreated they did an excellent job at destroying equipment at those ports and doing other things making their use almost impossible....so supplies were still coming ashore in Normandy and being trucked all the way across France. This year marks the 80 year anniversary of the battle that is featured in the next few episodes.

A few things to note / responses to questions raised during the reaction: - The smoke grenade thrown by Winters was likely defective, leading to a longer delay than expected. - Polish men in the SS, especially on the western front were highly uncommon since the SS were usually volunteers that had to be ethnic Germans and have shown alignment with the regime. - Moose Heyliger did survive being shot, but had an extended recovery and never returned to active duty. - Winters' promotion meant that he moved up to the battalion level. As the commander of Easy Company, he was in charge of their operational planning, though, as shown in the episode, he typically led by example. As XO of the 2nd battalion, he instead had to manage day-to-day tasks, leaving him somewhat less involved in tactical decisions. Since he was now responsible for the entire battalion, it also meant his interactions, especially with the enlisted men in Easy Company, were reduced. - Berets were rarely worn during combat, so while it is possible that the British paratroopers did have their berets on for identification purposes, it is more likely that this was done for the viewer to be able to easily distinguish them. - The temperature drop in December 1944 came rather unexpected, which was one of the reasons why the soldiers were not properly equipped, though general supply shortages did contribute as well.
