The Avengers (2012) | Full Reaction

Crazy that we are already at the end of Phase One in the MCU! Words can't explain how excited I was to jump into this first Avengers film. And it DID NOT disappoint in any way (except maybe Hulk but we aren't talking about that lol). Enjoy!

The Avengers (2012) | Full Reaction

"There are so many jokes !" - this is Joss Whedon. You should consider trying Buffy (the series not the movie) which was what introduced us all to his work. Kevin Feige gets a lot of deserved credit for what he did keeping the continuity together in the MCU. But there is an unsung hero, Sarah Finn who was responsible for every single casting choice. The MCU would not be the same without her. Kali. You mourned Coulson. You should REALLY consider Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which ties into the MCU. It is really really REALLY (BSG) good ! Fab cast of characters that you will fall in love with and the seasons up to season 4 just get better and better (S04 is quite honestly one of the best seasons of TV ever made, up there with True Detective, BSG S02 and The Last of Us S01). It's really good !

Double, treble like and agree ! AoS IS Marvel Battlestar Galactica ! Season 1 is fine (JUST LIKE BSG S01 was fine !). Season 2 is better. 3 is even better and 4 is one of the best seasons of TV ever made. KALI... you love Marvel and you love sci-fi... AoS is all that you love !

If you want to see more of Coulson, I recommend watching Agents of SHIELD. While the series is technically no longer part of the MCU, it still has connections to some films. I could make you a list of how to watch the episodes if you want

ahhh this makes so much more sense. I was kinda on the fence too about Hulk, not being sure if it had to do with the circumstances under which he changed, or if somehow Loki was destabilizing him with the scepter or something. Good clarification!

Was a super long and crazy day of work today, so this was the perfect way to relax tonight. Thanks for the content, and really fun reaction! Also, there are a lot of really good Mediterranean restaurants around where I live and I remember back when this movie first came out, shawarma sales went wayyy up LOL

When Banner consciously brings out the Hulk, which is something he can do now, he has a little more control, and the Hulk isn't quite as berserk. When Banner looses control, and the Hulk forces it's way out, he's much more the mindless savage.

Actually, Hulk can control his anger, etc. If you go to the 1:17:13 mark of the movie, before Thor comes into frame, you will see that Hulk actually recognizes what he is doing before he tries to backhand Natasha. He wasn't going to actually hit her. Incredible Hulk (2008) in the last scene, lets the audience know that Bruce can control the change and can transform any time he wants. Lastly, awesome reaction, LETS GO!!!

Thanks 🙌

I was going to make this comment about the hulk, but I think you summed it up pretty well

Hey Kali! I'm super happy you got to the end of Phase One! Avengers really showed cinema at the time what a superhero movie can accomplish. When you kind of lay it out, in terms of filmmaking, it's a pretty odd movie. I mean, there's 6 main characters, how are you supposed to balance all of them to make them feel like they're all protagonists, without taking too much time from telling the main plot? This was a first of it's kind movie, and it really blew up the MCU in popularity back in 2012. Tony's arc here, with Cap setting up that he's not the guy to make the sacrifice play, that Tony is not selfless, for him to prove Cap wrong later on with sacrificing himself to save New York, was incredibly done. Cause that turns on its head, who Tony Stark has been. Seeing that growth was such a treat. I will say I kind of disagree with your take on Hulk. Yes, he was recast and Mark Ruffalo of course brings a different energy than Edward Norton. But in actual canon, keep in mind he's the same character. And I actually think him "always being angry" is really in character. At the end of the Incredible Hulk, he controls his breathing, and we see he's able to turn into the Hulk whenever he wants to. But looking at his issues, I think him always feeling angry is really profound. Because his anger, and by extension, Hulk, is always a part of him. I think that's him embracing that he's always dealing with this, and now he can control it. (At least when he changes into him, because you're right, Hulk himself is almost another personality altogether, similar to Dissociative Identity Disorder) In a way, I see it as a kind of acceptance. That Hulk isn't just a monster. Now Hulk has a purpose, to beat the living hell out of the bad guys and Bruce is more okay with that. But that's just my take! Can't wait for our intro to Phase 2!
