Band Of Brothers Full Reaction | Part Eight: The Last Patrol

I love how much detail this series has put into the mindset of each soldier and how War changes each and every one of them so drastically. This episode definitely showcased how different Easy Company looks since their first day at training.

Band Of Brothers Full Reaction | Part Eight: The Last Patrol

Yes, for sure.....I think some of the inaccuracies are because of how the show was written and produced by the production company, some from the writer who compiled the stories that the mini series was based on and some from the members of Easy Company as well. When you are done watching, HBO did a podcast to celebrate the 20th anniversary of BoB's release. It is a great listen.....as well.

I found out that apparently a few of the men portrayed in this show have actually written their own books about their time during WWII. I'd love to read those and get a more accurate description of what went down. I feel like in the beginning I heard a lot of people mention how accurate this show is, so I've been taking it to heart. But lately there have been more people speaking out against how they portrayed certain characters and it makes me feel sad that they didn't get the true story they deserve! So I'll have to pick up those books sometime.. :)

I agree 100%. Winters is an incredible man and leader. I don't think I've really mentioned it because there is a lot of other mental health to talk about when it comes to the other men so far, but Winters hasn't really let any of what has happened out there these past 2 years affect him on the outside. I'm sure on the inside he is a completely changed man, but the way he has conducted himself on the outside hasn't wavered one bit since they set foot on enemy land and that just amazes me every time.

When asked about Webster, the other men all agreed he just did enough to get by. He was never one to volunteer, or be the first to do anything, but he always did what was asked of him and did his job as a soldier. But the story of him being slighted by the other men when he rejoined them in Haguenau after Bastogne was very exaggerated. They were happy to see him and easily welcomed him back. I also wanted to mention that I have enjoyed your reactions and insights to BoB and can't wait for you to get further into the MCU.

I agree with one of the other members.....I always got the impression that Webster was doing those things to try and help those he felt could use a break or who wanted to get their uniform dirty......unfortunately part of what I could say could possibly be a spoiler so I don't want to say to much more....as far as Cobb.....he is another that is portrayed differently from in real life....or so I am learning here recently. Cobb actually served in the Army and saw action in North Africa before joining the 101st....again I don't want to give any spoilers away.....if I remember I will return when back to some of those thoughts when you are through the series.

Winters once again proving that he's the true leader of men. The only thing that matters to him is the mission and the safety of his men. No ranks, accolades, or bragging rights. And where I feel for a lot of the other high ranking officers who accept that soldiers losing their lives is an expected sacrifice for a successful mission, Winters feels every loss. And isn't willing to trade their lives for just anything. Even if it puts his reputation on the line. What an amazing man

I was so unsure about Webster's character in this. I can see it from your view as well. I think what my opinion is mainly based on is that line from Sgt. Grant saying, "Webster, he tries to get out of everything" and also his sarcastic "Thank you, sir" in response to Spiers telling the other translator to sit out on the patrol. I'm not really sure which way Webster was going in this one l. I still don't think I fully understand, but I'm scared to google anything until I'm done with the series lol :) Thank you for your thoughts!

This makes a lot of sense.. And I feel like you're very right. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

I have a theory about Cobb. The character in the show. I don't know enough about the real man. Why was he getting drunk and mad? Survivor's guilt. He got hit in the plane and missed Normandy. He fell out of the boat here. He has been pretty lucky while his fellow soldiers died or were severely wounded. So, maybe survivor's guilt. I don't know that to be true, but I choose to believe it is. To give him the benefit of the doubt. Again, the character, not the man he's based on.

I feel you got the wrong impression of Webster. I felt through the episode he was doing everything he could to relieve the beaten and battered since he missed Bastogne. Helping Malarkey get a break, helping the new LT. (played by Tom Hank's son btw) some battlefield experience, helping Leibgott not to have to go on the patrol by pointing out you only needed 1 interpreter. I always took it that he felt guilty for not being with them through Bastogne and wanted to make up for it. Also, Lipton was discharged as a non-com (1st Sergeant) and promoted to an Officer (2nd Lt.). He wasn't discharged to go home. Great reaction though and yes, hold on to your seat for the next one....it's a dousey.
