The Green Mile | Full Reaction

This is more than a movie. It's an emotional journey that stays with you long after the credits roll. This was a beautiful story about compassion, injustice, and extraordinary humanity that we can find in unexpected places. Thank you all so much for recommending this one to me. It's a true reminder of how powerful kindness can be, even in the darkest times. 🤍

The Green Mile | Full Reaction

I love I finally get to watch this movie in full with you. Not that your edit was bad cause quite the contrary (which I said on the YouTube video) but no edit can compare to the ride this entire 3+ hours is. Michael Clarke Duncan (RIP) was sooooo damn good as John Coffey. I fraking HATE Percy with every fiber of my being. All the other guards are great too especially the actor who plays Brutus and Barry Peppers character. Def a top 5 movie for me.

Russell Rutigliano

Yesss! I'm hoping to dive into some comedies over the Spring! I know I've been in a heavy movie kick haha. I think it's all the recommendations that everyone loves from these beautiful stories, but yes they are so heavy! Thank you for the recommends! I'll add them to the list for sure!

Kali Wali

Whew, you need to do some comedies. Three of my favorites and popular reaction movies are 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail,' 'Airplane!' (yes, ! is in the title) and 'The Hangover.' If you ever watch The Hangover you need to watch the first part of the end credits, this is the funniest part of an already hilarious movie. PS, the other benchmark Hanks movie is Castaway, tissues required.

I'm glad you enjoyed watching this with me! I definitely need to check out Shawshank Redemption soon. You're right- I got sooo many recommendations for it after this one! ✨

I just finished watching this movie along with your reaction. And you know, I've seen this movie before, maybe a few times over the years, and I've never noticed the light around John Coffey until you pointed that out. I'm glad I've found your channel. I'm glad I get to rewatch these movies from your point of view because I get to pick up on some of the things that I might have missed. Thank you for this reaction! Anyway, it might have been suggested to you already, but I'll suggest it anyway: Shawshank Redemption, it's such a wonderful movie. You have to watch it when you get a chance!

"Big" is fun but "Catch me if you can" also stars Leonardo DiCaprio and you would love it. Also, i think it would be a better experience to learn more about Movies and a better insight on Moviemaking. Also, looking forward to Shawshank Redemption, one of the greatest period.

LOL I absolutely would have gone through the scientist's electric chair mission so differently. And you're probably right about that outcome 🤣😂 This movie deepened my uneasy feelings about the electric chair. Even the poor man where they did wet the sponge took an extra shock just to be successful.. What an awful way to go. And it just looks so barbaric.

I watched this movie for the first time back when I was a teen, and I loved it then, and I continue to love it through the years. But nothing hits quite like the first time experiencing this movie, and in a lot of ways, I wish I would have seen this movie for the first time as an adult, with the broader emotional range and maturity that I have now. To be able to understand the deeper and heavier themes that run throughout. So thank you for taking us through the first time again through your eyes, and sharing all your thoughts and analysis. Miracles truly can happen in the most unlikely of places. And there's just so much power, and beauty, and inspiration to take away from this story. Gives you a lot of great perspectives on life, society, and how we all treat each other To leave you with a laugh, thinking back to RDR2, I remember you were on the fence about continuing the scientist's electric chair missions. And I can probably guarantee now that had you watched this movie first, you would have hogtied him and put him on the train tracks LOL

I agree with you on that last sentence LOL but I'd love to jump into a lighter Hanks film!

Kali Wali

Yes! It was honestly such a pleasant surprise and one that took my breath away a bit. This film did an incredible job of making the ordinary seem like so much more..

Kali Wali

If you continue your Tom Hanks journey but would want something much lighter in tone, "Big" and "Catch Me If You Can" are fantastic in their own right. I think some recovery time is needed before "The Shawshank Redemption"!

It's amazing how an hour into this movie - which already isn't what you expect it to be - it changes into something else. And yet it's still a wonderfully told, coherent story throughout. The best kind of subversion.

KJ Gould

Thank you, Ian. I'm still thinking heavily about this film today. What an absolutely beautiful, but hard-hitting story. Thank you for enjoying it!

Kali Wali

I totally agree with you! I love Marvel as well, but it's been great mixing in some other movies as well lately. I'm hoping I can continue to do it this way (have a Marvel movie or two, but also mix in another non-Marvel throughout the week for you all here). When John explains how he is tired of all the hate and pain in the world. How people use love to hurt others. It couldn't have hit me harder.. Such a deep and true way to explain the state of things in life. But yes, you're so right, the least we can do is remain hopeful and remain a light in such a dark place. That's all we can do, really. 🤍

Kali, your empathy for the characters in this, and all films you’ve reacted to, is amazing. This film is so impactful and insightful; and viewing it through your eyes made the rewatch hit that much deeper. Thank you once again.

I’m so happy to see a few more non-MCU movies on your channel. Don’t get me wrong, I was a huge Marvel fan and still love many of these early phase movies, but it’s great getting some variety, especially when it’s of this calibre. This is such an impactful movie. I remember being a blubbering mess towards the end of it the first couple of times watching it. Now I’m more of a sympathetic crier watching other people like yourself getting emotional. I’m sure this one will stick with you for years as it has with me. It still feels timeless, and unfortunately the part about the world being full of people being ugly to one another could have been written today. At the very least we can hopefully all be a little more mindful before we say things that don’t really need to be said. Looking forward to some Christmas spirited movies to come.

Thank you for your reaction. It's a film that connects with a lot of people on a very emotional level. I was unsure of what to make of John Coffey through much of the movie, even though he seemed almost saintly in his demeanor. I hope you do eventually get to "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994). It is the film that director and screenwriter Frank Darabont worked on before "The Green Mile". In my opinion, it is every bit as enthralling a film as "The Green Mile" but they aren't the same. Or, if these heavier films are too impactful as of late, you can always find something a little more lighthearted to watch. The first time I watched "The Green Mile" I was repulsed by Sam Rockwell's performance as Wild Bill. He was so very convincing as a murderous psychopath but then I watched his silly persona in "The Way Way Back" (2013) as a staff member in a water park. Look for his Oscar-winning performance in "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" (2017). Also, the actor who plays Percy - wow! That role must've been hard to cast.

I haven't seen Shawshank yet, but it has definitely been mentioned many times-- obviously another must watch I have to get into soon! I had no idea it holds the number one spot though. Wow. I've really been enjoying these films. I get why they are so highly ranked!

Kali Wali

I must say you are doing a great job reacting to some emotional heavy hitters and great films in general . With Green mile being ranked 26 and forest gump is like 12 on IMDB greatest list your Cleary picking quality movies . If you haven't seen shawshank redemption that's another highly recommended movie which I believe bring about the same great emotions as the other films and also currently holds the number one spot .

No reason to apologize being a good parent is always the number one priority.

I wouldn't worry about it, sometimes things come up. Plus, family comes first.

Hi! I'm so sorry for the extremely late post today. I forgot about my daughter's school event earlier today and got finished super late tonight because of that. I'll try not to make a habit of posting so late! Thank you all and enjoy when you can! 💚
