Spider-Man: Homecoming | Full Reaction

This was honestly such an awesome and heartwarming journey! Peter Parker's excitement, awkwardness, and endless hope was captured so well by Tom Holland. And that moment where Peter walked away from the Avengers offer to stay true to himself?? I was floored. It wasn't just about turning down a suit or a title, but about him choosing to live his life fully, learning and growing at his own pace.

This was such a beautiful reminder that strength truly comes from within. Knowing who you are, even when the world wants you to be something else. This movie felt so grounded and heartfelt!

Spider-Man: Homecoming | Full Reaction

Please watch Andrew Garfields The Amazing Spider-man movies, 2012 and 2014, they are my favourite live action adaptation of SPider-Man i love Tom Holland but its not just about spider-man in his movies, there are many other variables at stake, which i love in that context, but Andrew Garfiels are Spider-Man focused and so good! Plus Emma Stone such an amazin actrees in them!

Kristoffer Smedegaard

Kali i noticed you dont really know that much about Spider-Man, this is many peoples favourite superhero because its there childhood mine included, i really recommend the Spiderman games by insomniac to understand Spider-Man more maybe your next new game?

Kristoffer Smedegaard

P.S. Marissa Tomei, Aunt May obsession, was/is considered a very attractive woman so their just playing off that and what the image of aunt May is in the other 5 movies. A great movie to see her in and get her comedic side is My Cousin Vinny. Like I said earlier in my comment a few days ago, you'll get more of an idea of Aunt May in the other Spider-Man movies. Also someone else mentioned it, but Ferris Buellers Day Off is another iconic movie for you to watch. Its the reference from Spiderman running through the back yards when he was chasing the van.

Ok wow I am late posting this πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Hope I remember everything I wanted to say but probably won't πŸ˜” Loved it, that's obvious. His opening scene was great of him videotaping his trip to Germany and all of that, that was a really nice added touch to get to his childlike innocence, Newby, look at everything. His friend Ned is the perfect fit/guy in the chair lol The villian twist was one i didn't see coming when i seen it the first time. Michael Keaton, the first batman movie, 1989 and beetlejuice, was a great villain. I'm with you on the being gullible thing. I go where the movie is taking us. Rarely do i predict what's gonna happen, unless its just so obvious. I love a good " plot twist " lol Captain America analogy of being so moral and wholesome is soooo accurate. Again loved the reaction. On to the next one ☺️ There are things like MJ, aunt May and web fluid that will make sense or fill in blanks that you don't know about yet when you watch the other, Toby and Andrew, movies.

P T

Adrian Toomes is basically pre-redemption Tony Stark if he wasn't super rich.

Malcolm Ferguson

Hahaha the Cap troll at the end of the credits was hilarious! I can only imagine the collective groaning noises in the theatre after waiting through the entire end credits for THAT hahahahaha. But honestly, such a Cap thing to do. And yes, his old USO tour days! I felt so bad for him that I didn't even realize I was being trolled right away lol. Peter's humility and selflessness really are what make him such an incredible hero. He doesn't do it for fame or glory. He does it because it's the right thing to do! That moment where he turns down Tony's Avenger offer felt so true to his character, like he knows his place is with the people who need him right now. Such an awesome reminder that doing good doesn't always have to be recognized! And Tony, yes you are so right! He cares SO much. It's both his greatest strength and his huge weakness. I don't think we can fault him for it either, because it really does come from a genuine place. Seeing him back with Pepper seriously warms my heart! It felt so full-circle and it was so rewarding after everything they went through in Civil War! πŸ’š

It's awesome hearing how your feelings about this movie evolved over time. I know a few others in this community have felt the same way about some movies in the MCU and it's awesome to see how perspective can switch depending on what you're going through in life or what you've learned from comics or other movies to add back into these films! I already want to rewatch Guardians of the Galaxy knowing what I know about Yondu and see it through those eyes! I love how they reimagined some of the characters to fit this version of Spider-Man's story. Since this is my first one, this is how I picture Peter Parker. But I can't wait to jump into the older films and see the different facets of who Spider-Man's character is! And yesss, Tom Holland played a perfect role as Peter! He felt so authentic and wholesome. His awesome balance of awkwardness, intelligence, and genuine kindness made this Spider-Man so relatable and endearing. I loveeee your comparison to Robert Downey Jr. in terms of how spot-on the casting was! Very high praise! Thanks for explaining the changes with Aunt May, too lol. I totally get why they went for a young "cool" Aunt vibe in this version! It adds a fun to the story but also keeps that emotional weight intact. Thank you for mentioning Uncle Ben! I was wondering if they would happen upon the story later on, but I do love to hear how much fans can draw from the comics through these films! Even without seeing it in this movie, you can feel she is going through something for sure... I'm really nervous about Avengers: Infinity War haha. Everyone keeps saying how huge it is, and I feel like we are really gearing up for something truly insane. And after Civil War... I know how dark and deep and intense this Universe can get. I'll definitely have those tissues ready lol. But I'll be sweating going into that one for sure. And thank you so much for your kind words about my channel! It means so much to me that you've been here since 10k and to see it now almost at 40k is insane. I'm super grateful for people like you that show support and genuinely enjoy being here! Thank you for being a big part of it all!

Kali Wali

Ooo interesting prediction! πŸ‘€

Kali Wali

Yes! It's the Black Widow <3 One of my all-time favorite guns! Sniper class all the way

Kali Wali

I did the same exact thing with my first paycheck!! I've rewatched The OC an embarrassing number of times. It's pretty much what got me through High School and parts of college. I was more of a "comfort" watcher back then when I did actually sit down to put something on. And I only watched what I knew I loved because I needed that stability in my life lol. I remember rewatching Tangled and Elf for one whole year. Those were the only movies I would watch haha. Elf on a hot summer day πŸ˜πŸ˜‚ I think that's definitely why I haven't seen so many of the more popular movies/shows out there which makes it so awesome to be able to do that now!

Kali Wali

they may have helped with transporting some materials. but they were not the skilled builders necessary to make such a structure in 1848. its just common sense but they really wanted to inject their politics into the marvel movies.

rubberkidney

Just gonna repeat everyone else's comment that you really should watch the tobey and and andrew spiderman movies before no way home. Besides, I think you'll love the tobey and andrew spiderman movies. I absolutely guarantee it!

Zeroplue

yes PLEASE watch the other 5 previous Spider-Man movies that came before this! especially before Tom's 3rd movie.

Mister Lou

Lol, your comment about that being Trey from the OC made me realize it was him! The OC is one of my guilty fav tv shows. I remember buying the first two seasons of The OC on DVD when I had my first paycheck.

Ultra

This movie actually references a few "high school" or "coming of age" movies from the 80's. The director wanted this movie to feel similar to those kinds of movies. That's why they used so many 80's songs. And I also believe that the Tobey, Andrew and the Miles Morales (the animated spider-man movies) are required viewing. And once again, I have to say that i have been loving your reactions. And I appreciate your thoughts that you write and share with us whenever you post a new reaction. I feel like I get more excited that your excited to share your experience with the movie. Keep up the great work! πŸ‘

DarthChef

Vulture is a fantastic villain and Michael Keaton absolutely steals every scene. Also - do I spy a Black Widow replica from Mass Effect in the background? πŸ‘€

When this movie first came out, it got some flack for not being entirely accurate to the comics. Peter being obsessed with Tony Stark and his advanced suit with holograms and an AI assistant. Comic book Spider-Man was more of a solo hero where he built and learned everything himself as he grew up. This movie came out when the MCU was in it's prime so it was getting a lot more attention and judgement from the big comic readers. I'm embarrassed to say I was one of them. I wasn't dismissive of this movie but I just thought it was okay. Watching it again however, especially with the later movies, I now have a new appreciation for this interpretation of the characters. Flash was more of a generic jock bully in the comics but here he's just a cocky rich kid. Ned wasn't Peter's friend but here it works. MJ was the pretty girl but here she's an introvert loner. It all works for this version. Watching it again, while I still have a soft spot for the older Spider-Man movies, Tom Holland is absolutely perfect. Just like Robert Downey Jr, it's exactly like they ripped the character straight from the comic books. You're almost at the big one, Avengers: Infinity War. That was a huge deal when it came out and you'll understand why soon. It'll be best to bring a second box of tissues for that one. Also, another change was Aunt May. In the comics, she was more elderly with graying hair and wrinkles. Here they made her younger to be more of a "cool aunt". That's what all the guys hitting on her was about. It was a subtle wink to making her younger than the comic version. The thing they mentioned about "May going through some things", it was the death of her husband, Peter's uncle. They don't mentioned him on the later movies so I hope it not considered a spoiler. In the comics his death was the driving force of Peter being a good-hearted and responsible hero. Lastly, I am absolutely loving these reactions Kali. To this day, I am very grateful the YouTube algorithm recommended your channel to me. I subbed when you were at 10k and seeing you at almost 40k make me jump for joy. Here's to hoping you get 50k by the summer and 100k by the end of this year or the next. 😊

ChrisAm13

As long as u watch the others before the third one you'll be ok

Rashad Walker

And if you wait until the end of the credits on Ferris Bueller, you’ll learn how that was the inspiration for an end credit scene from a different movie you reacted to … not spoiling it just in case. πŸ˜ƒ

I think after the next thor movie, thor will be in your top 5

I knew you were gonna love Peter / Spider-Man with how humble of a hero he really is! It takes a special kind of person to want to do so much good in the world and yet receive no recognition for it. It's something we should all strive for honestly. And I think all that selfless good in Peter is what ultimately made him turn down The Avengers. And that someone has got to look out for those who don't have anyone watching over them. People who without protection, could become the next Vulture. You had a great outlook on him as a villain btw. Basically said everything I was gonna say about him (as usual hahaha) Tony cares SO much. Too much, even you could say. And is fundamentally what gets him into tight spots in Ultron, Civil War, etc. But can we fault him for it? Not really. It's super cool to see how far he's come through this entire series. ALSO it brought me a very great amount of joy to see him back with Pepper again! I really want to know the vibe in the theater when people waited through the whole credits only to get trolled by Cap LOL. I actually didn't pick up on the parallels at all between him doing all these videos now and what he was doing back during WWII. So thanks for pointing that out!

M1 Maz

No, the references are limited. You can still enjoy Phase 4 without watching everything. I agree with others that recommend watching the Spider-Man movies the most. Some stuff from X-Men and the Daredevil show gets referenced in certain MCU shows and movies and it would be good but not critical to see before. BTW, the highest rated Spider-Man movie on Rotten Tomatoes is the animated Into the Spider-Verse (97%)

Paul M

Tom Holland seriously nailed the youthful, everyday hero vibe! It makes Peter feel so relatable and knowing Stan Lee and Steve Ditko envisioned him this way makes it even more awesome! I also love how you broke down the street-level vs. comic hero distinction! It makes a lot of sense that he Avengers don't step in for things like this, and it really highlights how important Spider-Man is in his own way. He might not be fighting world-ending threats, but that doesn't make his work any less important. That "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" vibe is super heartwarming and awesome. I hope I can jump into the older Spider-Man movies before the next MCU Spider-Man! I'm excited to see all the different takes on Peter's story and learn more about what makes this character so amazing and loved. I'm super excited to revisit Thor: Ragnarok, too! Knowing what I know now I feel like I'll see it through entirely different eyes. See you there!

Kali Wali

I'm glad you're loving these reactions and that they're helping you see things in a different light! That's awesome and a huge compliment, especially from someone that has watched these so many times! The storytelling in the MCU just keeps getting better! It's a lot of fun to dive down rabbit holes within it. I'm excited for Thor: Ragnarok next! I'll see if I can spot the final Martian connection hehe. Thanks for the tips on when to watch the Spider-Man movies, too! I feel like I should definitely try to watch them before the next Spider-Man movie! See you in Thor! I'm excited and nervous for the rest of Phase 3. It's been so incredible so far and definitely my favorite Phase.

Kali Wali

Someone warned me about this, too! I'm hoping to get to the older ones before I jump into that one now knowing this! Thank you :) And I've heard the Batman movies are great! I'm looking forward to seeing them sometime.

Kali Wali

I love that the previous Spider-Man films have a different style to them! I absolutely loved this one, but think it's awesome that they aren't all the same but tell a similar story!

Kali Wali

I realized I realllly need to watch them lol

Kali Wali

I'm definitely an HSP lol. Which I guess makes me like Mantis without the super cool sleep abilities! 😭 Is that because Phase 4 draws more from the X-Men and Marvel shows after this Phase?

Kali Wali

Tom Holland really drives home the fact that Peter is a kid and that's really true to the comics. He's literally a kid/young adult in high school and eventually college life, who also leads this secret double life trying to do good as Spider-Man. I'm sure you've heard things about how Stan Lee is kind of a grandfather of Marvel, which is why he gets a cameo in almost every Marvel movie. He helped to create so many heroes that you have yet to meet. But the main hero Stan Lee is known for most.... is that he is the brains behind Spider-Man. He and Steve Ditko are the origins of this character, so it's a really special time when I see him around Peter πŸ˜… Something that's very common in Spider-Man stories is that he's just a good person. He's a more street level hero, while heroes like the Avengers deal with more planetary threats, or even cosmic threats. Thats kind of why the Avengers didn't really help out with stuff like this. They don't do the "street" level crime. They're there to protect the world against world ending threats. But there's a whole bunch of Marvel characters that cover this lower level danger like arms deals and street crime, and Spider-Man is probably the biggest of those heroes. I'm really surprised that you've never seen other Spider-Man movies! I think it would be really cool at some point to check those out, you'll get to see all the different flavors of who Spider-Man is πŸ™Œ The fabled Thor Ragnarok is next and I'm really hyped for you to revisit it, with all the context you have now! See you then Kali!

Lorenzo Baxter

Googling it was very confusing lol.

Kali Wali

YES! I love this, too!

Kali Wali

Oh noo! I'm so sorry to hear you're down with the flu! Sending you all the good healing vibes and hope you feel better soon 🍡✨ I'm glad this video could bring you some distraction and positivity! Toomes really is such an awesome villain. That morally gray area makes villians super compelling and Toomes played that part awesomely. I hadn't really thought of Ego as being a part of my personal top villains, but after you mentioned him, I think he is! He's another one that you can put yourself in his shoes and see it his way pretty clearly. Awesome writing! Thor: Ragnarok will definitely be a rewatch for me! But it's been such a long time, and I can't remember much from it at all thinking back now. But I'm really excited to go back into it knowing what I know now that I've been following the timeline. I love the idea of sprinkling in some older Spider-Man movies over time! That seems like a great way to get more of Peter's backstory without really rushing it. Thanks for the suggestion! Feel better!

Kali Wali

There is no true evidence that it was but it seen as highly likely if not at the very least they were involved in some way .

20 16

Yes! I definitely do!

Kali Wali

Welcome back! 🍡✨ I hope you have a relaxing night and enjoy!

Kali Wali

Oooooh! That's awesome. I knew there had to be a reason why all the medals and uniformed picture were behind him in that scene. But who knew it would be a call back all the way to then!

Kali Wali

Seeing how this wasn't your favorite makes me reaaaally excited to see the others so I can compare/contrast, too! This was my first Spider-Man so I don't have anything else to compare it to lol. But I did love the arc and the wholesomeness of this character! I'm really excited to dive into the PS games sometime! I've heard nothing but amazing things about them!!

Kali Wali

Ooo I've heard of it but never seen it!

Kali Wali

I hope you enjoy it whenever you get around to watching! I definitely agree that Peter's growth arc is something so wholesome and special. Seeing him go from chatty and wide-eyed in Civil War to navigating all of the craziness of being both teenager and a hero is super inspiring and relatable. Thank you for being here!

Kali Wali

Great movie, glad you loved it. And good job immediately recognizing the 6th actor from The Martian that is in the MCU - only one more to go and that one will be in the next Thor movie. Ready to see your reaction to the last one! Yes, you will want to watch the other 5 Spider-Man movies. A natural time based on the overall flow of the MCU to do that would be after Avengers: Endgame. Also good call out about Cap and his time as a "chorus girl" and having to do it again in those school videos. Why I love your reactions: I've seen these movies more times than I can count, and yet your insight brings new things to my attention that I hadn't considered before. This is an example; the same happened in Doctor Strange about how he needed to learn to fail to become a true hero, which I never really considered before. And last comment: the next two movies are going to really, really amp things up leading to Avengers: Infinity War. Prepare yourself.

The Dingo

Also, regarding hot Aunt May...Marisa Tomei... enough said.

Aaron Chandler

You will want to watch the other Spider-Man movies with Andrew/Tobey before you watch Spider-Man No Way Home. Otherwise, you'll be a bit lost in it story wise. Micheal Keaton (The one who played Vulture in this movie) played as Batman (1989). You should watch it sometime; just remember it's more of a comic book style movie than the MCU's ones which try to be a bit more realistic.

McShades

Spider-Man is about as strong and tough as Captain America on the whole but like Steve there are things that can hurt him. I'm honestly kind of glad you're seeing this Spider-Man first, because when you get to the prior two Spidey movie series (I know people will demand it at some point), you'll get to see how their styles differ quite a bit but they're still telling the same basic story. Not to be spoiled though, but don't be surprised if Tony Stark doesn't make an appearance in the other Spider-Man stories. Spider-Man is his own thing and this one is unique for involving the Avengers.

JD Nevesytrof

Crazy how the first Spider-Man movie you watch is the one not telling you about his powers origin (even tho most know the story anyway). The other movies with Tobey & Andrew are for sure a must at some point in your MCU journey.

Rippan

The way you relate to the characters, are you sure you don’t have empathic abilities like Mantis? After Phase 3, you may want to watch some non-MCU Marvel shows and movies like X-Men, Daredevil and Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire’s trilogy, Andrew Garfield’s two, and the animated ones). Also, Calling attention to Aunt May’s attractiveness might be because she is traditionally portrayed as elderly in the comics and other media.

Paul M

the washington monument was not built by slaves

rubberkidney

Oh, I forgot to mention; I love Tony Stark's personal growth on display in this movie! Gosh, remember back in Iron Man 1, when he was such a massive a-hole? Now he's actually being vulnerable with a 15-year old kid (in his own sarcastic way, but still). Stark isn't my personal favourite MCU character, but he sure does have the best character arc!

Onno Smits

Thanks for posting this today! I've got a bad case of the flu and really needed this good vibes movie reaction to distract me from how shitty I'm feeling! πŸ˜… I agree with you that Toomes/The Vulture is a great villain, that lives nicely in that dark grey area where you understand why he is doing what he is doing. You also mention Zemo (the bad guy from Civil War) as the top-rated villain you've seen so far, and I 100% agree with you! Best villain so far. I'd say Ego (Peter Quill's dad in GotG2) completes my personal top 3 list of villains you've seen so far. I don't like Ego's storyline so much, but the acting from Kurt Russel was really very very good, in my opinion. Next up is Thor: Ragnarok, which I guess will be a rewatch for you? I'll be curious to see how much you remember from it, as you watch it! Have a great weekend. RE: Other Spider-Man movies; You can watch them without spoiling anything in the MCU. It will give you some great backstory on Peter's origin. Maybe sprinkle them in over the next couple of months?

Onno Smits

When you have time you definitely need to check the other spidermans . It also explains his orgin.

20 16

Back from my hols and I get to watch this and The Martian this evening. So gald you enjoyed both!

Simon Haynes

By the way, the Principal is not a veteran. It's the same actor who plays his grandfather, one of the Howling Commandos in the first Captain America.

KJ Gould

Once again, this is another character that I had to let grow on me. And this one is just due to nostalgia for the old Spider-Man actors. This is by far my least favorite Spider-Man movie, but I have grown to like this iteration of the character very much. I'm glad that you enjoyed this! I'm excited for you to eventually get around to the Insomniac PlayStation games. You're going to love them

iameNeRG (Rodney Gant)

When you said there is a 'similar scene' on the TV when Peter was running through the neighborhood, that is from a movie called "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" which you should definitely react to at some point. It's a classic.

Chad K

this is where the fun begins

Brandon Tomlin

If you want to see something really fun, do a Google image search for "Tom Holland and Young Stan Lee" 😊 Stan always saw himself in Peter Parker.

KJ Gould

As always looking forward to your reaction. I will be watching this at some point today. His growth arc is special. To see a kid grow like that so quick, especially after his cameo in civil war. Trying to carry on a conversation with everybody at the fight to this. I said many movies ago, I'm not a Spiderman fan but I did enjoy these. The cast and writing and acting were great. I'll say more after i watch. Keep it up Kali, we are loving your stuff!!!!

P T

Yes! ✨

Kali Wali

This movie really captured Peter Parker as the youthful heart & soul of Marvel.
