Thor: Ragnarök | Full Reaction

Rewatching Ragnarök felt a lot like a first time watch because, apparently, I barely remembered any of it! I feel like I must have left mid-movie because how did I completely forget that Thor loses an eye!?

This second time, I absolutely loved it. The humor caught me completely off guard and I love how much Thor evolved. I feel like in the previous Thor movies Jane would take up more of the spotlight, so to have a movie where Thor digs deep and comes out completely changed was very cool to see. Seeing him step up as a leader without Mjolnir, embracing who he truly is, and realizing Asgard is more than just a place was super wholesome and full of beautiful deeper messages.

Thor: Ragnarök | Full Reaction

Comments

Thor is the comics is very dour and straight, but Hemsworth is just too gifted of a comic actor. This film is everything whilst Anthony Hopkins plays Loki playing Odin. Hela was technically correct. They have a system in which the eldest child ascends to the throne, and she was next in line ! Did you not recognise Eomer and Galadriel from Lord of the Rings (Karl Urban and Kate Blanchett). Point Break is a reference to an awesome Keanu and Patrick Swayze movie about an FBI agent that goes undercover as a surfer. Should be on your list as it is a fan fave. I love how Hulk says Ragnarök. This film is less accurate to this comic run than it is closer to Planet Hulk which is a story about Hulk getting exiled on a war torn alien planet with gladiatorial games. Korg and Miek are actually Hulk's friends ! Jeff Goldblum is awesome as The Grandmaster, one of my fave characters in the MCU. "Yes Jeff, come as you are... what you are wearing is fine !" If you want another fun one from this director Taika Waititi, try Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy (which rewards NO SPOILERS !)

Hey! First, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch this with me and share your thoughts. It means a lot that you're enjoying my journey through the MCU and are looking forward to Endgame! I totally get what you're saying about Hulk, and I really appreciate the added context that is honestly much MUCH needed throughout all of the MCU phases. I've always struggled a bit with his character just because they seem to always give him the short end of the stick and expect the audience to understand his arc fully without explaining much of anything. I can definitely admit that I did not fully understand the character's nature here and was struggling to grasp onto what the story was putting out there (which is not normal for me). I agree that these movies oversimplified things and it makes me sad that Hulk's storyline got cut like this. It's because of people like you in this community that I now fully understand Hulk. Looking back on this film with this added context, I see it so much more clearly! And it makes Hulk's character way less frustrating for me. I love getting perspectives like this! So I really appreciate you taking time to leave a thoughtful comment :) Hope you enjoy the rest of the journey here!

Finally getting around to watching all these Marvel reactions and I've been enjoying them...I look forward to getting to Endgame soon. However I do need to say the comment of wishing Hulk was less angry is kinda odd and makes it seem like you don't fully understand the Hulk character...which is a bit further backed up with quickly you were judging how he was acting towards Thor during the fight/in the room without some further consideration for what we've seen in the movies. Whether the standalone movie or even Age of Ultron, Hulk has been nothing but bothered and harassed while really just wanting to be left alone...even becoming more aware of the fear and damage he causes which is why he flies off in the jet. It's better to think of Banner/Hulk like Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde or even something out of folklore like a werewolf. One is unassuming, calm (appearing), intelligent, etc. While the other is a raging beast that often acts before they think (which is what makes rage different than just anger)...with a "superhero" spin of course. That rage, at least on a basic level, comes from Banner himself because of his backstory which is rather tragic. It's probably one of the more unfortunate issues with the movies, Banner/Hulk gets very dumbed-down which creates some misunderstandings for sure. Anyways, that's enough of my rambling...I'm not holding it against you or anyone with that reaction since it's mostly fair for what gets shown in the movies. Just wanted to put it out there is all. Keep on keeping on, looking forward to the rest of the MCU reactions as well as any other movies. Thanks for the content.

Donald

Mjolnir is no longer after this, and I honestly don't know how to handle that.... My heart hurts haha

Kali Wali

Having now watched your reaction on here and Youtube, i need to mention something that no one has mentioned RIP Mjolnir

DarthChef

Thank you ☺️ Yeah, sakaar was a wdird planet. Fell right in kinda with the movie but it was fun. Great to see Thor grow more and put his people first. All these characters continue to grow as heros and modg importantly, people.

P T

All of the context is much needed! The fact that I remember very small amounts of this one tell me I prob just tuned out bc I didn't know what was happening and prob just chalked it up to an odd movie with a hot Thor haha. 😭🤣 I'm excited for Wakanda next! I'm sitting down to watch that a little later today!

Kali Wali

Glad you loved this one as much as I did! It was a super fun watch and even though I genuinely did not like that planet I can't deny that the visual effects there were awesome lol That sounds like a heartfelt weekend. I'm glad you got to spend some time with your mom remembering your dad and all the good memories. As always, I appreciate you being here and I'm glad to be able to bring some laughter into the weekend for you as well with this silly movie lol. Looking forward to the next one!

Kali Wali

One show you should absolutely watch that isn't necessarily part of Phase 4 is Daredevil. Both because of the Daredevil Reborn show coming out in March, and because it's just really, really good.

Malcolm Ferguson

No surprise, I loved it. This is my favorite thor movie. The director for this one is an off beat type of director and person. Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but the director is also the voice for Korg. Loved the "What the hells " during the hulk fight. Authentic reaction and emotion!!!! "We need to get off this planet, I can't take it anymore " 😆😆😆😆 "Des Troy, from tex-as" lol Loved your repeating of some of the lines. Again, great reaction. Looking forward to the rest of them. Spent the weekend with mom, today was dad's birthday 😢 Nice to get back home though and watch this.

P T

It's kind of a whole different vibe this one - loved your reaction - so glad you were able to see it with all of the context this time. Hope you enjoy visiting Wakanda in the next one as much as I did.

Matthew Murdick

Cate Blanchett is one of those actors that can play anything.

Lastboyscout73

That makes a lot of sense about Natalie Portman! I didn't realize she wasn't happy with The Dark World but after watching it and then seeing the reviews on it, I totally get why she wouldn't sign up for another film. I do think even having her on in this one would have made it feel way different, so I'm kinda glad it worked out this way- no offense to her haha. I genuinely liked Jane in the first movies and feel like she fit the part very well. Thor was in love and, in many ways, hopelessly in love. And I love that for him! But seeing him rise from that and take power in this movie was truly awesome to see! I love hearing that MCU pivoted based on audience reactions! I love that this Thor movie really brought out so many more layers of Thor to love vs just a brooding God in love with a mortal and struggling with the throne. I also really appreciate you saying that about my reviews! I'm not trying to truly sugar coat everything and put glitter on poop... but I do try really hard in my real life and in movies to look at the brighter side of things and put myself in other people's shoes. With movies, I like to put myself in the director's shoes a lot. I try to get what they were throwing down before dismissing it as garbage. I try not to read too far into reviews online because I feel like we truly live in a negative culture right now and it sucks. I love forming my own opinions on things without prior knowledge, going in very blind and just giving you all an honest "good" or "meh" review. I totally understand now in hindsight after seeing Phase 3 movies why The Dark World wasn't everyone's favorites, but I still enjoyed them at the time because there were good things within them to draw on. Plus I'm just a genuine lore lover so if you give me character development in any form, I'm bound to latch onto it and think deeper on character's psyche. Phase 4 is going to be very interesting with the shows and movies mixed in! My plan heading out of Phase 3 is to take a mini break to fit in all the previous Spider-Man films and then jump into the Phase 4 as it was released. Any shows will be included in that as well! I plan to still visit everything as it was released as if I was watching it when it was coming out, if that makes sense :)

Kali Wali

The comments on this one were def more packed! But as always, I appreciate you taking time to share your thoughts too! I feel bad I was so harsh on Hulk this movie now haha. It's a shame that Universal didn't play nice because, as you can see as a viewer, I just am not connecting with him as I should be because of that! I can sense there is so much more to the Hulk and Banner dynamic, but I keep getting frustrated that it's only touched on fleetingly over several movies. His arc, to me right now, feels very disconnected and all over the place. One minute he is Edward Norton learning how to control his zen. Then he is Banner learning how to just "be angry all the time". Then Hulk starts talking. And I'm just... confused haha. But thank you for branching more on him because through this comment section I'm able to look at him in a different, more appreciating light! That is amazing how the "he's a friend from work" line was improvised by a kid on set from Make a Wish! So beautiful and adds so much more to that line now! Also, as much as I hated that planet ( I think it was just the gross feeling of it and crudeness of the Grandmaster haha ) I have to admit the visual design was amazing and I absolutely loved it! That's really cool that they pulled a lot of that from Steve Ditko's work. I didn't realize how much of the color scheme and aesthetic were directly from comic inspirations, very cool!!! I also completely agree about Hemsworth. This fresh take on Thor was definitely working for him and you can even tell he was just having so much more fun with it! I love seeing actors get a chance to stretch their range, and this movie gave him allllll the space to do that and he nailed it!

Kali Wali

Is this some foreshadowing orrr just a favorite filming spot.. Hmmm lol 👀

Kali Wali

✋🏼 it's me, pre-infinity war jitters lol

Kali Wali

I absolutely looooved seeing the MCU take on Norse mythology. Especially after seeing GoW: Ragnarök's, too! I think what I love the most about Norse mythology is how flexible it is, because at it's core even in history- that is what it is. Nobody truly knows since most of the writings were lost or never written. There's so much room for creativity in how these legends are told! Odin's death upset me, for sure.. you know how I feel about rushed deaths in games or movies. And this one hurt me. But you're right and thinking more on it in my outro- I do feel like it added to the chaos feeling of Thor's exile! And it definitely made Skaar feel more alien and isolating as well. The humor in this movie was sooo good. It's funny because I don't remember the humor at all during my first watch (most likely because I didn't get any of it haha). I mean most of the humor is deep within the lore and you just 'wouldn't get it as much' without that! So makes sense why I quickly lost interest in this during my first official watch. But all the butt jokes hahaha. Someone in the writing room was having way too much fun 🤣😭 I love how much more depth we got for Hulk/Banner. I feel like I'm still holding grudges, but trying to let them go haha. I feel like for the first time, we got to see into Hulk's perspective instead of just seeing him smash recklessly, which was very interesting! This movie really is one that you need background on literally everything before seeing! There is way too much going on but experiencing it with more knowledge makes it feel like a brand-new movie which was crazy for me! And Cat Blanchett as Hela... Wow! No words needed there hahaha. I told you all in my head, GALADRIEL! But going through the comments here I realize I never truly said it aloud haha. I think I was just so captivated by her performance, yet again 👀🤣

Kali Wali

I didn't realize that Natalie Portman said "no thanks" to this awesome movie! No wonder why their relationship end felt super abrupt. But at the same time, with such a huge change of Thor's character in this movie, I honestly appreciate that they didn't bother to drag it on because it really feels like a THOR movie vs. a THOR + awkward love interest movie lol. I love your point about the "Big Three" and how their third movies all force them to strip away the things that have defined them. Iron Man without his suits, Cap without his shield, and Thor without Mjolnir! It makes all of their arcs feel truly earned. And like Iron Man said in Spider-Man: Homecoming, "If you're nothing without the suit, then you shouldn't have it." and that goes for any of them- a shield, a hammer, etc. I totally respect your view on Hela, also! Sometimes, it's entertaining to have a villain who is just pure power, confident, and unapologetically evil. I do see why she feels very slighted by Odin and that helps fuel her.. But I love that she feels like a pure force of nature in this film. And yesss Cate Blanchett played such an amazing Hela! It was awesome seeing her go from royal, beautiful, and powerful Elf to dark, twisty, and powerful God! Super hyped for the next two!! But I'm also starting to sense a... "wait, pump the brakes" as we get closer to finishing the "golden age of MCU" lol

Kali Wali

Yes! Someone else mentioned this mindset of Hulk and it makes a lot of sense. Seeing things from his point of view, where he's constantly being suppressed, feared and sadly even discarded by Banner really makes his child-like frustration and mentality hit harder and make more sense. So with this, it also makes sense that Sakaar would feel like home to him. He was loved by the Grandmaster. But sadly, he was also being used as a weapon and being controlled in a way.. Which makes me even sadder that even during those two years he wasn't truly free from that either even though he thought he was. I'm not really sure what my bigger issue with Hulk is. I think I fell in love with Edward Norton's hulk and now all I get is disappointment.. I feel like they changed him completely from his origin and didn't bother to make another movie explaining why he changed or who he really is to the viewers. But, I totally get why Hulk is one of your favorites! It's really sad that the MCU hasn't been able to fully explore his character due to the rights issues.. With your explanation there seems like so much more depth in his duality. And I think I would also enjoy his arc more if they allowed for him to have another movie with his growth and development instead of sneaking it into other films that aren't focused on him. I'll definitely be checking out Hulk Vs and Planet Hulk. After your deep dive into him, I feel like I need to understand him more and get over my Edward Norton phase officially with some true back story and much needed depth! Appreciate it!

Kali Wali

I did notice Galadriel's actress, but not Skurge! This is one of those examples where I mention something to you all in my head but it never makes it out in words because I thought I already said it out loud 🤣😭 But yes, very awesome seeing Galadriel in this role! She did an amazing job at playing such a completely different character!

Kali Wali

I love your take on this! Chris Hemsworth's range is very underrated. He can do epic, drama, and nail comedy without it feeling out of place! And hahahah that "Oh, s***" moment from Anthony Hopkins was golden. So quick but perfectly delivered. He played an awesome "Odin turned Loki"! I really appreciate your insight on Hulk's behavior! I hadn't thought about it from a DID perspective, but that honestly makes a lot of sense. The way he communicates and his emotional responses to tiny things... It all tracks with him being in a much more childlike state of mind, despite all of his power. That adds another layer to his character that I really hadn't considered before! I'm not sure what my beef with Hulk is. Could be that I'm still sad that Edward Norton isn't our Hulk anymore, or it could be that he doesn't really have a movie to himself again explaining things, so I try to fill in the gaps? But this helps me out a lot with his mentality and trying to understand him more. Odin's arc is so fascinating! I love that you pointed out how he just decided one day that he was done with conquest, but Hela continued to push because that's all she has ever known. I can 100% see how she would feel betrayed. It makes their dynamic so much more tragic looking at it. And yeah, Odin's parenting?? Not a great track record haha. I do love that in the end he just accepts Loki fully.. That did bring me a lot of peace and you can see on Loki's face that it brought peace to him, too. It's also SO true that once Odin and Thor stop trying to force Loki to be something else that he actually starts growing and coming into his own. Still, of course, in a very Loki way. But progress is progress haha! I loved the comedy and emotional balance of this one. It's awesome how much it changed my perception of Thor as a character. And yes, I'm super excited for Black Panther! See you then!

Kali Wali

I noticed Hela! But not Skurge!! Thank you for pointing out.. How did I miss it haha

Kali Wali

Crazy that we are over halfway through Phase 3 now!

Kali Wali

👀👀👀

Kali Wali

"Thanos is coming. Thanos is coming!" 😰

JESSEMLR1

I watched this movie for the first time like 2 weeks ago, and the whole time I was looking at Hela like "wow who's this beautiful woman playing the villain?", and finally got to the credits and went "WAIT that was Cate Blanchett this whole time???" LOL

M1 Maz

Unfortunately, Natalie Portman didn't want to come back because she didn't enjoy working on Thor: The Dark World. The "mutual dumping" line was a quick way to explain Jane not being here. The visions that Wanda gave to Thor in Avengers: Age of Ultron was supposed to be the setup to this movie. It was originally gonna be more serious and dark but because of the mixed reactions to the previous Thor movies, Marvel changed it to make Thor more of a funnier character with some Guardians of the Galaxy vibes sprinkled in there. Even though they wanted Thor to be more of a Shakespearean fantasy with the first 2 movies, I think this was a good way to evolve the character. This is a comic book version of the Norse Myths so go all out on the Sci-Fi comic book tone. That's what I love about Marvel's version of Thor and Norse Mythology. They have their fantasy elements but also have Sci-Fi mixed into it. It's really interesting to have someone this out of the loop of the MCU to come into it years after the hype died down. To have someone not following the majority opinion and having their own. Analyzing the movies and bringing up things that I never would have thought about. Saying positive things about certain movies or scenes that, at the time they came out, would get negative feedback. Movies like Thor: The Dark World and Guardians 2 got some flack at release but Kali actually talking about things she enjoyed. Saying good things about Jane when everyone else thought she wasn't a good character and was glad she left. It's really nice to have someone like Kali giving every movie a chance to shine. I know it's still ways off but I do wonder how you're gonna handle Phase 4. That's when they start introducing the shows on Disney Plus. Some movies in Phase 4 & 5 do require watching the shows to understand the rest of the MCU story but I guess we'll have to wait till we get there. Can't wait to the next reaction 😄

ChrisAm13

A lot of comments on this one and I admit I'm to lazy to read them all lol, but since you didn't say much about The Hulk I wanted to reiterate that since Universal refused to play nice with the MCU and they couldn't make another Hulk solo movie that this was another part of his arc in the story telling. Basically, Banner being the Hulk for 2 years + put the Hulk's age around 3 years old and his mannerisms were like he was around that age, throwing tantrums and the way he talked and such. I know Chris Hemsworth wanted something a bit fresher if he was going to continue playing Thor and I love the way it was handled personally. The "He's a friend from work" line was improvised by a kid that was on set for the Make a Wish foundation. Such a funny line and I love that story of where it came from. Last thing I will mention is even though you hated that planet, a lot of the color schemes and designs were pulled straight from the comics in the Steve Ditko era. He was quit the comic book artist, and they honored that. I'm sure there is more but it looks like there are plenty of MCU fans here that wrote most of what I was going to say already. Again, my favorite Thor movie, personally I loved that they loosened up on the seriousness and allowed Chris Hemsworth show a bit more range in his acting. As always, absolutely love your reactions and I am having a great time going through the MCU again with your fresh eyes.

Lastboyscout73

I was a little surprised she didn't mention or possible recognize? that Hela was Galadriel and Skurge was Eomer from LOTR since she just watched them. They look really different though but you beat me to the punch of saying it first lol.

Lastboyscout73

Kali, others covered much of what I was going to add but just a fun through line is that Tonsberg, Norway has been seen a few times thus far: first in Thor where Odin saved the town from the frost giants, and then again in Captain America when the Red Skull finds the Tesseract hidden in the Yggdrasil carving. Looking forward to your reaction to Black Panther and the rest of Phase 3!

Ian Forbes

Is anyone else getting the pre-infinity war jitters? We are close now.

Phil Tilly

As you know, my first introduction to Norse mythology was through the God of War games, before watching these Thor movies. So it was really cool to see this movie's take on Ragnarok and all the parallels and differences between this and GoW! Seeing so many familiar names (Sutr, Fenrir, etc) but in a completely different light. I also felt the same as you that I wished for a little more time to breathe after Odin's death to mourn him. Especially after the beautiful funeral that his wife got in the last movie, with that amazing music. But like you said, in not doing that, it definitely made Thor's exile and the Cyberpunk planet feel a lot more suffocating I really ended up loving the humor in this movie haha. The humor in the previous two was fine, but also a bit... much at times lol, with how cringey / awkward some of it was. But this one completely embraced the over-the-top comedy, and at least for me, it landed well! Also, someone in the studio was definitely giving out bonuses for how many butt jokes could be squeezed into one movie LOL Even though this is a Thor movie, I love how much more insight we got into Hulk / Banner's struggles. I've been kinda waiting ever since Ultron for a bit more color added to Hulk's story, and this one definitely gave it to me! Also love that this ended up really feeling like a first time watch for you! Without having the context and backstory of all these characters, I can totally see most of this movie not making any sense to you the first time through haha Also, Cate Blanchett as Hela.... oh my. What more is there to say LOL

M1 Maz

Just finished this great reaction! I do have a couple of things to say. First and foremost, my personal belief with them not focusing that much on Odin's death or even talk about Jane that much is strictly due to the actors. The MCU has had some pretty notable A-list actors, but friend minor character specifically within door story, Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins must have cost them a lot of money. Also, with the direction of this movie (which was a surprise to everyone.) It seems like the MCU wanted to change the public perspective of Thor movies altogether. Hence why those characters weren't as prominent as they should have been moving forward with his story. My second Point has to be about each of the big three Avengers and their respective trilogies. In Iron Man 3, Tony was forced to get rid of all of his suit collection and his Mansion which kind of defined an aspect of his character. For Captain America's third film, Steve was prompted it to give up the shield. Now in Thor's third movie, he had Mjolnir taken away from him, stripping him of that former identity forcing him to forge a new one for himself. It's amazing how all three of these characters have been tried and tested within their respective worlds. Third thing (hot take), I really like Hela as a villain. But not for the reasons that people tend to like villains nowadays. I really do love when the media I'm consuming has a deeper message and means something, but sometimes I really just want to have fun and not think too much. And this movie does that for me in every single way. It's just a bunch of fun, and the villain has no deeper purpose other than being a villain. Consuming so much media has me yearning for that feeling again. That feeling where the good guys are just really good and the bad guys are simply bad. It makes me appreciate this character a bit more and the grand scheme of the MCU. I'm really glad you enjoyed this movie, and I can't wait for the next 2 back to back BANGERS you have coming up!!

iameNeRG (Rodney Gant)

The Thing about Hulk himself he has the capacity of a 8 year old child. The reason why Hulk has been suppressing Banner is because Banner has been doing that to him and he doesn’t have the maturity to understand why, all Hulk can piece together is that Banner always tries to keep him away and even tries to get rid of him completely, he’d rather kill himself than deal to keep Hulk from living. At Sakaar he felt accepted and not a monster that’s feared or weaponized that’s aimed towards the bad guy. Hulk is my favorite superhero besides Spider-man but since the MCU doesn’t have the rights to make another solo movie he hasn’t had much opportunity for his character and the duality to be fully explored so I can understand that his character can feel conflicting and frustrating. Animated Films like Hulk Vs or Planet Hulk do a good job giving depth to Hulk as a character. I do hope you consider checking out any or other of the marvel animated series or solo films before the MCU because as much good as the MCU has done there are some characters who are held to the standard they should be

Justin Garlington

This is my favorite Thor movie, I think even top 3 MCU movies. I also might have a huge crush on Cate Blanchett. She is so gorgeus and beautiful and funny and smart and I am down bad for her PLS IMPALE ME WITH YOUR KNIVES MY QUEEN

BigBrain69

OMG now I can't unhear Mr. Krabs when Surtur is talking, why did I read this

BigBrain69

I like that there's 2 actors from The Lord of The Rings in this. Cate Blanchett and Karl Urban.

Doug Watson

Yeah Taika Waititis takes on Thor definitely are polarizing in the MCU. But one thing I love in this is seeing Chris Hemsworths range. He can go full Shakespearean drama, and then he also is actually really comedically gifted. Possibly my favorite joke in this movie was Anthony Hopkins, playing Loki, who is playing Odin, just saying the really quick "Oh shit" at seeing Thor 😂 Now I get that Hulk was frustrating in this film, but the way he acts, and this is very possible in real life cases of DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) is that the alters can vary in age or maturity. And Hulk comes off as very childlike, despite how strong and powerful he is, here he seems very mentally immature, even in how he speaks with very few words. I get Odins unceremonious death is kind of sad. But at the same time, I do love how before he died, he basically figured out what was important to him. How his disapproval of Loki doesn't matter as much as his love for him. He doesn't even berate him for putting him under a spell, he basically just said "Yeah that was a good one, Loki" and that he loves him. I love how you talked about Odin as a character. How in his past, he absolutely could've been considered a bad guy. Like full stop villain category. And in real life mythology, and as you've seen in games like God of War.... yeah Odin is not traditionally a good person at all. But in the MCU, it's a really cool idea that with the thousands of years he's been alive, he's had so much time to change and grow. And one day he just woke up and decided enough was enough. It's understandable how to Hela, it's a betrayal, since that life of conquest is all she knew. Not great parenting on Odins part which seems to be a pattern 😭 Also really quick note about Loki. I love how Loki has been having these expectations placed on him by everyone to be better in the past, and probably out of spite, he just refused to change. But when Odin dies, he is just fully accepting of who Loki is, without any words about how he needs to be better. And once Thor does kind of the same thing, (in a much more dickish way 😅) only then does Loki actually make change. Yeah he's still such an ass about doing the right thing with the glory hogging, but hey, you can do the right thing for the wrong reasons 😆 I really did enjoy this movie though. Despite the comedy, it also had some pretty powerful dramatic moments that takes Thor in an interesting direction. Cannot wait for Black Panther! Absolutely adore that film, see you then Kali! 🙌

Lorenzo Baxter

By the way, I don't know if you recognized them, but the actors for Hela and Skurge were both in Lord of the Rings. Hela was Galadriel, and Skurge was Eomer (Eowyn's brother).

Malcolm Ferguson

Yes that too 😊

KJ Gould

The actor playing Thor at the theater is Luke Hemsworth, Chris big brother.

Rippan

O'boy Infinity War getting close!

Rippan

Enjoy when you can!! I really loved this one's humor and Thor arc!

Kali Wali

That makes soooooooooo much more sense that "Grandmaster" would be brothers with the "Collector" same vibes for sure haha. And the Matt Damon playing Loki in the play sent me hahaha hilarious

Kali Wali

Thank you so much! Very awesome that you're loving the MCU journey here with me! Hope you enjoy it when you get around to it ✨

Kali Wali

Absolutely agree with you. I felt the same way about Odin's death, and I was hit so hard by that, that I completely forgot to mention the Warriors Three's deaths being brushed over as well. They were way too quick and simple for such huge characters in the first and second movies. The death writing in this was honestly awful.. But the humor, Thor arc and Odin's backstory was enough to keep me loving it. Just really wish that the deaths weren't done that way..

Kali Wali

Aww, sounds good! See you in Black Panther! ✨

Kali Wali

Omg that's awesome!! Going back now I'll have to see if I can hear it! I haven't seen 'Point Break' yet but that is hilarious and a total Tony move lol.

Kali Wali

Matt Damon playing Loki in the 'play' had me dying hahahaha. I love that they had him for that role 🤣😭 It just made it so much funnier lol Thor's transformation in this movie made me appreciate him soooo much more! I totally see why he wasn't as popular before. I love norse mythology and I struggled to keep him on my Top 5 for so long. But you may or may not be surprised at the changes I've made to my Top 5 already (You'll see in the intro of next one! hehe) Now he has soooo much more depth and personality. The humor balanced everything so perfectly without taking away from his awesome arc, too. The Valkyrie trivia is super interesting! I had a feeling there was more to her past and the flashback was so intense. It makes a lot of sense now that she'd abandon her oath after losing someone so important to her.. And I knew that blonde valkyrie had to be that person.. I love that the comics dive even deeper into it all. Really makes me want to read them eventually. Thank you so much for the infinity stone recap! I'm going to start a google document so I can keep better track and I'll be using this as a template hahah. I know that it's going to most likely play a huuuuge role at some point with how much they are brought up and how much of the fan base is like 'PAY ATTENTION' haha. Thank you!

Kali Wali

I won’t spoil anything obviously, but there were a few times you made an observation about one thing or another and I thought “uh oh”. But I will let you experience all of it and be right here watching

Jim

I know! It's crazy that we're more than halfway through Phase 3 now 👀😭

Cant believe we are at Ragnarok already, feels like it was last week you started the MCU! Looking forward to watching this evening.

Great reaction! Glad you saw Matt Damon so quickly - some people don't recognize him right away. You've now seen all 7 actors from the Martian in the MCU. :) And yes: this movie completely redefined Thor in the MCU. We finally see Thor really become a leader. As for the humor, it added a lot I think, and it really was important because before this movie Thor was probably the least liked Avenger for a lot of people. Some trivia: when you see the flashback when Valkyrie fought Hela, the woman who died right in front of her was named Brunehilda, and while I don't know if Marvel ever confirmed it, my understanding is that the two of them were married and her death if why she abandoned her oath. As for her name - they never tell us. In the comics, Brunehilda is an Asgardian superhero known as Valkyrie; the Tess Thompson version in the movie is a newly created character specifically for the movie(I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) You were wondering about the locations of the Infinity Stones so I wanted to recap for you because it's a lot to keep track of: 1. The Space Stone (the Tesseract; last seen on Asgard) 2. The Mind Stone (from Loki's scepter, and is part of Vision on Earth) 3. The Power Stone (the Orb; last seen on Xandar in the possession of the Nova Corps - 1st Guardians movie) 4. The Reality Stone (the Aether; last seen when the Asgardians left it with the Collector on Knowhere in the end credit scene of Thor: The Dark World) 5. The Time Stone (the Eye of Agamatto, currently on Earth and guarded by Doctor Strange) There is one more that you haven't seen yet and I won't tell you where it is or what it's called or who has it. That is for you to discover! One more movie to go before you get to Infinity War. I. Cannot. Wait.

So fun fact, the voice of Surtur is Clancy Brown, the captain of the guard in Shawshank Redemption. He is also the voice of Mr. Krabs in Spongebob. And 'Point Break' is a movie. Tony calls Thor that because he looks like Patrick Swayze in that movie.

Well i knew this moment would come and it wont be the last in your MCU journey but i skip that. Not a fan of Waititi and this movie was the first really bad one imho in the MCU. I wish everyone who likes it a really good time. We will see us for Black Panther again Kali. Also not a big fan of that one but out of respect for Chadwick im ok with it. Take care and have a great time you all.

I love this movie, but one thing that always rubbed me the wrong way is how they treated the Warriors Three. I mean, these guys have been consistently present throughout the Thor movies, and they just killed them off like they were nothing. It really came across like "We don't know what to do with these characters. Let's just kill them off." Like... if you couldn't think of anything to do with them, you could have just not put them in the movie. Say they were off doing something else or something... Aside from that though, I do love this movie. It's probably one of my favourite Marvel movies.

So excited to get into this one later today!! I love that I get to re-experience all these movies again through your perspective. I've watched them many times before, but I always look forward to your reacts. 100% hooked. Keep up the great work.

I loved the little cameos of actors in this. Sam Neil playing Oden in the play. Karl Urban as Scurge. Matt Damon bizarrely as Loki 🤣 BTW Jeff Goldblum's "Grandmaster" character is I believe meant to be the brother of Benicio del Toro's "Collector" character.

Heading to work, looking forward to watching after!
