Avengers: Infinity War | Full Reaction

Here it is!! The one we've all been anticipating! And even though you all warned me about this one, it still hit me like a freight train. I knew going in that Thanos was most likely going to be the central figure. But what I wasn't prepared for was how personal his journey would feel. His warped philosophy of sacrifice and the way he dismantled the Avengers so easily left me stunned. I feared him the entire time.

Emotionally, this movie felt different from anything I've seen in the MCU so far. Even Civil War. Watching our heroes lose, one by one, was painful. Thor's arc, full of hatred and pain, only to miss the kill shot was a stun. Wanda's sacrifice, ripping apart the man she loved, only for it to be undone in the blink of an eye felt raw and cruel. But nothing could have prepared me for Peter Parker's " I don't wanna go"... The silence after the snap and seeing the lingering dust of people we have looked up to and loved fade into nothingness was.. like nothing I've ever seen before. A superhero movie where the superheroes lose???? How.

Where do the Avengers go from here? What did Dr. Strange see and is this all part of a bigger plan? Was Thor's final blow supposed to land differently? Was that our 1 in 14 million shot? Can this even be undone? All questions that I need answered before I can sleep well again...

Avengers: Infinity War | Full Reaction

Comments

I cannot.. I cannot imagine this world 😭🤣👀

Kali Wali

Just imagine that you just watched this movie, but having to wait for Endgame

Matt Fong

Wanted to wait to watch this until you uploaded end game so I can binge lol. But yeah... I watched this in theatres and I'll never forget when the credits rolled. The whole theatre was deathly quiet for like 15 seconds and the silence was broken by a couple girls starting to sob.

Tacosareneat

The reason i loved Infinity War more than any other marvel movie, is because the heroes lost, completly straying away from what a normal superhero movie is, and my favourite chracter in the MCU Thanos, is just magnificent Josh Brolin killed it. A villian being the main character is such a good difference! I love the last scene and i love that Thanos does not flaunt his victory like most villians would, he just sits down sighs of relief and stares at the sunset (or sunrise idk).

Kristoffer Smedegaard

Friends, I shared this on YouTube: our planet produces more than enough food, it’s the corruption and inequality in the distribution and sharing of it that is the problem. Wiping out half the population does absolutely nothing to solve that. The amount of food wasted and thrown away in just one day in the U.S. is horrifying

Richard

Amazing reaction! :) I remember watching this in the cinema back when it first came out. It was incredibly scary after the snap. Everyone was completely silent. The whole time people were reacting to things like Gamora's sacrifice or Quill punching Thanos, but as soon as people started disappearing from the snap, no one made a peep until the credits rolled. Fortunately, you don't have to wait too long to see the next Avengers movie, but at the time we all felt hollow knowing that we wouldn't get a resolution to this any time soon. Imagine having to wait a full year before knowing what will happen! There were so many theories about what the name of the next movie would be, because it wasn't revealed to be called "Endgame" for quite a while, but everyone guessed it since Dr. Strange says "We're in the Endgame now". Tony actually says it in Age of Ultron as well saying "That up there, that's the Endgame" (referring to the Chitauri invasion in the first movie). It was such a surreal and almost depressing time to be an MCU fan because a lot of our beloved heroes were dead and even though we knew there'd have to be some sort of resolution, it felt hopeless. It was such a bold move from Marvel and it was incredible. Can't wait to see your Endgame reaction Kali!

Corey Shaw

Unfortunately, that would violate the first law of thermodynamics. What Thanos did wasn't magic.

Matt Rowland

I've only seen two movies where the crowd was completely silent when they walked out of the theater: this film and American Sniper. We were in absolute stunned disbelief. My wife was cried out, her face - like many others including mine - was completely tear-soaked and beet red. We were all complete strangers walking out of that theater, but we all just had that shared experience of watching something that shook us to our souls. This film is by far the best in the MCU. Sometimes we need things like this to remind us that heroes don't always win.

Matt Rowland

True :(

Kali Wali

Oh wow! That's awesome

Kali Wali

I need to check out this deleted scene. I'm still currently in the phase where I'm scared to google anything haha. So I'll add it to a sticky note for later. It makes a lot of sense that Hulk wasn't just "scared" of Thanos but actually fed up with being treated like a tool for battle. I totally get that internal battle between him and Banner, but I always wish that the MCU would branch on it more.. I get why they made the choice to keep the tone more consistent, but I really wish that Hulk's development would stop being put on the backburner. It makes his character feel so frustrating for me and I spent a lot of Phase 2 and the beginning of Phase 3 disliking Hulk because I never understood him. Thanks to awesome Hulk fans here explaining cut scenes or more development on him from the comics, I see him differently. But without you all, I would still dislike him.

Kali Wali

Loki, Heimdall, and Gamora did not die from the snap. Even if there was a way to reverse the snap, it wouldn’t bring any of them back.

Braxton Ritchie

I don't think I noticed this before but the first MCU movie was Ironman in 2008 and Infinity War was 2018, ten years later. At the very start of the movie when the logo appears for Marvel Studios the IO in Studios glows red representing that 10 year anniversary.

Andrew Roach

There’s a deleted scene where Hulk explains why he keeps refusing to come out. He basically says to Banner “Banner only ever wants Hulk to fight” Banner doesn’t understand why he’s upset about it. They were also supposed to resolve their issues by the end and bust out of the HulkBuster Armor, but they decided to cut that scene out as that triumphant moment would’ve clashed with the bleak ending, unfortunately it’s another sacrifice of Hulk/Banner’s Character development.

Justin Garlington

You are welcome!!! So glad you decided to start reacting to movies. I am on this ride/journey with you forever! Yes, these marvel movies really make you stop and think, about Everything. Hope the move is going well. I know you said you were a minimalist and hopefully that is helping. Congratulations 🎉 again

P T

To me the only one that was trash was Secret Invasion. Even Marvel is trying to forget that one. Otherwise I believe what Jonathan said, they all have their strong and weak points but overall they are pretty good.

John A

Yeah the end credit scenes are tricky because we would have to sit silently for the entire credits for the time to sync up with it so I usually just edit it. My first edit kept a lot of it in, but then on YouTube it blocked it completely because there was too much shown. So I had to edit it down more. I can tell Infinity War is already going to be a tricky one for my editors next week lol. Sorry about that. I'm not sure of another way to do it. I guess next time I can just leave the scene on for a bit without audio to let you all sync up to it and then blur it like I normally do. Sorry about that!

Kali Wali

Nooooo poor Quill 😂🤣😭

Kali Wali

This is SO true! 🤣

Kali Wali

Ugh yes, Thanos's logic is so twisted, but if you think about it hard enough you can actually understand it even if it is horrific. It's crazy how something so dark can have a polarizing effect on people's views and make them question the bigger picture of life and resources.

Kali Wali

Thank you! I've always loved writing and enjoyed English in high school and college, but I never pursued it further beyond that!

Kali Wali

I totally don't blame you, at all!!

Kali Wali

Moving has been sooo hectic. But I've been enjoying seeing everyone's messages before I call it a night on here haha. So thank you for your response! I'm really excited to share the new space once I am all settled in. I'm hoping that by Monday night we will be settled into the new space, but I'm running out of steam already so we will see hehe. And thank you so much for the compliment on my reactions! Sometimes I feel so absorbed in every detail that I'm worried I'm not speaking my mind enough so it's great to hear that you can still feel my emotions even without explaining them sometimes :) I can definitely see how seeing this movie in IMAX was an out-of-body experience and a moment that will stay with you forever! I'm so jealous.. Also, awesome note on Thor and one I didn't think about. He was totally laser-focused on revenge this entire film, so that makes complete sense! And thank you for the heads-up about the end credit scenes! I'm bracing myself for Endgame already.. I can't wait to experience it in a couple weeks. But I'm also so much more hesitant going into another Avengers film after the heartbreak of this one. I'm sure my expectations will be flipped upside down in the best way possible!

Kali Wali

I'm so jealous that you got to see this in IMAX with friends! The silence and shock.. This movie was so brilliant, but cut like a fiery knife. I think I'll hold off for now about the post-snap off-camera victims! Just in case since there may be spoilers. This whole journey has been so amazing I'd hate to spoil anything now haha. And thank you for the heads up on Loki! I've been wondering, but also really looking forward to seeing how everything ties together as we move into the rest of Phase 3!! I can't wait to see what's coming next. This entire Phase has been so incredible. Tough, raw, dark... But incredible! Thank you for being here for it all!

Kali Wali

Stunned zombies.. Ugh. That is exactly how this movie leaves you feeling! If I wasn't a reactor, I wouldn't have said another word for the rest of the night. And the thought of looking at those smiling, unsuspecting faces coming in? That seriously gives me chills. Like they were walking into something no one ever expected or was ready for. You're also very right- Thanos tells us exactly what he is going to do the whole movie. And I believed him from the start. But somehow, it still doesn't prepare you for the actual snap. We're so conditioned to believe that the hero will come in and save everyone at the last minute... And that moment never came. And THAT is what makes this such an unforgettable experience, for sure.

Kali Wali

Your summary was perfect- This was their first true loss that wasn't just personal but actually universe-altering. They also didn't just lose... They never stood a chance once Thanos entered the picture. And that realization was crushing. Thanos may think he is noble, but you can really see how much he enjoys the true power. He didn't have to kill all the dwarves and leave Eitri's hands completely useless. He didn't need to be so cruel to Nebula and that look in his eyes during the torture was painful and disturbing to watch. He sacrificed Gamora, but it was almost like a transaction to him. He felt pain, sure. But it never stopped him. He wanted this power. He wanted this evil and that's what makes him so terrifying. Your theatre experience seriously gives me chills. I have loved reading similar theatre experiences throughout this community's comments! I'm so jealous.. The idea of so many people sitting, staring, frozen and walking out in a daze- that's unreal. I can't even imagine how brutal a year long wait must have been before Endgame, too! At least you had tiny slivers of hope to hold onto, even if they weren't enough to erase the pain completely. Peter's dusting... Ugh. That seriously wrecked me. Seeing how much it still hits you just shows how powerful it really was. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for being here on my journey through the MCU! See you in Ant-Man ( A much needed distraction from everything that happened in this one )

Kali Wali

WOW I love this comparison to the Reapers! I can totally see the parallel theme of "salvation through extinction" with Thanos and approaching life purely as an equation is a seriously terrifying concept because, on some level, the logic is there... But it completely removes the choices that make life worth living. The soul. The imperfections. You're so right that 'humanity is perfectly imperfect' and that right there is why Thanos' entire argument crumbles. He didn't ask. He decided. And that is not salvation, that is only control. And yesss, one of the absolute best parts of this movie was watching everyone finally interact and meet!! The Guardians with the Avengers was so amazing haha. And all of the banter was much needed and everything I could have ever hoped for. "Wait. What master do you serve?" 😂🤣 Thor honestly won me over so much in this one, too! I'm so glad I bumped him back up on my Top list because now he totally deserves that spot 100%. He has literally lost everything, but in that he has found his true strength and STILL continues to hold his head up high for the greater good. So awesome that the MCU really is a Universe where if you sit down and watch them in order, each movie just hits so differently and in a completely new way. They really did such an amazing job at showing how each decision and consequence builds over time for each character. And then Infinity War comes and BAM, all of the past choices come crashing down on The Avengers in a horrifying way.. I can't wait for Endgame just because I need to know where we go from here. But I can't lie that I kind of hate this movie and it's taking me a bit to pull out of the 'funk' I've felt after sitting down with this one. The MCU feels so different to me right now. So bleak and hopeless. I still can't believe that Thanos won. Also really excited to see what you think about Endgame since you haven't seen it yet, either!! But first, another Antman which is a huuuuge blessing after the darkness of Infinity War lol.

Kali Wali

Wow, I honestly didn't think about this? TRUE

Kali Wali

Hahaha I love it too. It's never anything else other than Rabbit 🤣

Kali Wali

LOL he doesn't need to return, he's done enough 🤣😂

Kali Wali

Thank you SO much for sharing your theatre experience!! I could seriously feel every bit of what you went through because I 100% felt all of it too. If I wasn't a reactor, I probably wouldn't have spoken another word for the rest of the night. I'm not gonna lie that this one left me feeling a bit depressed (But in a good way? Haha- As in, that 'hard movie' depression that makes you realize just how great it was, but you hate it at the same time lol). The drive home from the theatres must have felt like a crazy out-of-body experience just trying to process everything! Marvel really did something truly brilliant and different with this one. The humor was even great even though it was such a deep movie full of heartbreak. It helped me in the moment, but it didn't soften any of the blows in the end. And you're so right, the way that they build up these villains with motivations that make sense is totally a common theme in all of Phase 3! It's so masterfully written. The idea that this could have played out differently if Thanos got the stones in another order??? A wild and crazy thought that has my mind running again lol. And thank you seriously! I'm so glad you enjoyed my reaction to this one. I know there is SO much hype for Infinity War and now I totally get why. I never want to hold back how I feel because these movies matter. They're stories that connect all of us, and I'd rather be fully in it than try to keep it together to "look cool" or whatever haha. Knowing that my reactions mean something to you the way these movies do to me? That's everything ✨ And hey, Cap still in that #1 spot?? Respect! Haha See you in Ant-Man and Wasp!

Kali Wali

Alright so apparently Thanos killed me for the good of the universe, but then I refreshed and it said he spared me. So I think I'm good 😂🤣😂🤣 I'm so jealous of the theatre experience you all had!!!! As a reactor, I had to share my thoughts with you all. But if I had seen this by myself, I wouldn't have spoken for the rest of the night.

Kali Wali

Wow, I really appreciate you sharing your experience through the MCU! Reading your story, I could seriously feel everything you went through. The waiting, hoping, analyzing every detail and agonizing over it just to hold onto some kind of answer. And I can't even imagine waiting a whole year just to get any sort of relief! Much respect to everyone that had to sit through this and WAIT for that long until Endgame! I'm so jealous of everyone that got to experience this in the theatre first. I felt so many emotions watching this that I can't imagine being in a crowded dark theatre with everyone around me just feeling that too. I totally get what you mean about HATING this movie, because I totally feel that too. But yes! Also loving it for the exact same reason haha. Infinity War is definitely Thanos' movie, and that is really what makes it so hate/love-able. Knowing that my reaction could bring back some first feelings for you is amazing! It's one of the many reasons I love doing these reactions for people and getting to share these moments with true fans like you, who just get it! Thank you for being an awesome part of this journey. AND thank you for the amazing mug that I could hardly sip out of this entire movie because it was just way too intense for sipping tea 😂🤣

Kali Wali

Your theatre story perfectly describes that collective shock that we all felt. it's wild to think about a room FULL of MCU fans sitting stunned in silence afterward. That's the power of truly great storytelling! Thanos being the "hero" of his own story makes him a great villain, and I really appreciate you resonating with my conflicted feelings about his motivations. This movie really forces us to deal with loss, consequences, and the weight of everything in the past that led to what it is in this movie. And you're so right.. It's a journey for fans just as much as it is for the characters!

Kali Wali

Kali, don't stop watching; none of the movies or TV shows are trash! Don't listen to him. Continue to watch. Each and every Marvel movie and TV show has a purpose. If you watch any other movie out of order going forward you will be confused.

Jonathan

Kali, Outstanding reaction!!! Question, why did the end credit scene keep skipping different times? I understand doing it on YouTube. But this is on Patreon. The full end credit scene should be viewed on Patreon, in its entirety, right?

Jonathan

It's all Peter Quills fault

BigBrain69

great movie. the best marvel movie in my opinion. in my humble opinion...watch end game and then stop. everything after it is kinda trash and dumping on what you've watched up to it

Cregg Riley

I was randomly thinking this movie is near 2 1/2 hours long and there's not a single spot where you can take a bathroom break in the movie theatre and not regret it.

Paul Walker

The struggle of understanding where Thanos was coming from but also despising the horror of it made him a great villain. There was a counterculture in the zeitgeist when this movie came out with people going around saying “Thanos was right”

Chris

Such an eloquent and articulate write-up! Were you an English major by any chance?

Richard

I guess I need to add that yes I believe Infinity War and Endgame are the only movies I ever openly cried at - big manly tears of course! When you finally wrap up this phase with Endgame, maybe in your concluding comments you could specifically talk about the writers and the directors? Such an amazing job.

Richard

Hi Kali, I know it's move day so you might not see this post but I was at work yesterday and didn't have a chance to write a proper one. First of all, can't wait to see your new space on camera, and also remember kitties need time to adjust to a new space. Also, your eyes are mesmerizing to watch - intently darting all over the screen taking it all in missing nothing, full of emotion. Wow. Yes this movie was epic to see on an IMAX screen. I've seen all the MCU movies opening week going back to Iron Man 2008. But for sure Infinity War and Endgame on a big screen is an out-of-body experience that you never fully recover from! One quick note on Thor: after he nailed Thanos with the axe, he was intent on his revenge and probably had no idea that Thanos already had all 6 stones. Just a quick note, Antman & Wasp and Captain Marvel both have end credit scenes that tie in directly with Infinity War so don't miss those. But here we are, a momentous moment in human existence is about to take place in a couple weeks when you see Endgame. Just throw way everything you think you know; every expectation you have will be completely turned on its head.

Richard

You are right Kali, how could it get better after this and Endgame but p4 fell for a different reasons. Disney lost over 3 billion dollars (only at the box office, let alone streaming) since p4 started and a big chunk of its fanbase due to a huge problem you find in all of Hollywood right now. Checking boxes and not focus on good stories, well written characters. At the end the maxim of a character or story can only be as smart as the writer stands firm and if you start to dissasemble modern Movies you will see them differently.

Curaitis

I remember being with many of my friends to see this movie in IMAX. Everyone was stunned silent. I remember the directors revealing some time later the other characters that were taken by the Snap off-camera. Idk if you wanna know those names because of spoilers but let me know if I'm wrong. There were so many theories of what was gonna happen in Endgame, I can't even begin to explain. In regards to Loki, you will get the right context for that show before the end of the Infinity Saga which consists of: Ant-Man & the Wasp, Captain Marvel, Endgame, & Spider-Man Far From Home. Looking forward to Ant-Man & the Wasp. Excellent reaction as always, Kali!!!

Paul Wright

I'm sure. Was kinda surprised this came out yesterday but thinking about it, you're gonna be pretty busy this weekend. I wouldn't have been surprised if you said you were gonna take a week off to move and settle in. We would have been ok with that and be here waiting for you, cheering you on ☺️

P T

I remember walking out of the theater with the people that I saw it with and we were like stunned zombies just filing out of the theater. We were not sure what we just saw. I remember looking at the smiling faces of the people coming in after us and thinking you have no idea what you are in for. The thing is they tell you exactly what is going to happen the whole movie. He is going to get the stones and wipe out half of the living beings in the universe. This was not some secret plot, yet it is still so shocking. And it is because, as you mention, super heroes do not lose in super hero movies. You watch these movies wondering how they are going to win, not if. But to see them lose and lose spectacularly is a move theater experience I will never forget. Great reaction and excited for you to experience what is ahead.

Joe

Ugh that's really eerie to think about. Like a 'treasure' from that planet that he destroys.

Kali Wali

Yes! I gotta agree the CGI modeling was great! And yesss.. The Avengers have been so shattered for a long time now and it's definitely a main factor in why they lost this one. The writing in this entire Phase has been amazing!

Kali Wali

Like always, this is an awesomely powerful take. Thank you for sharing your experiences into it all and how it has given you that different perspective than not many have. I really appreciate you bringing that insight into it all. I do agree that Infinity War has to be peak MCU. How could it get any better than THIS. What could possibly top it??? I kinda get why MCU 'fell' after this because how could it not? They pulled every stop in this film and it shows. It wasn't just another superhero movie where the good guys win.. it forced them to face real hard and irreversible loss. Your point about Thanos is really interesting, too. He isn't really a villain in the traditional sense but more of an antagonist drive by deep, dark trauma that makes him truly believe he has a logical solution no matter the cost. I'm sensing a very common and huge theme amongst all our villains so far in Phase 3. They are all born from loss, helplessness and trauma. It has made all of them so compelling. But Thanos' sheer power made his character truly terrifying. I can only imagine how much your work has shaped your worldview, and I definitely understand how it can be hard to compartmentalize what you've seen and the comfort of everyday life at home. It sounds like you've really carried those experiences with deep empathy rather than bitterness.. And that is something to be admired. And your last point about evil.. "Evil can sometimes look insane, and sometimes insanity can look evil" is powerful. The hardest part is recognizing the difference. Thank you again for your thoughts and for sharing a part of yourself in this discussion. Take care and see you in another mind-bending film hehe!

Kali Wali

Yes! Shows you just how complex Hulk/Banner really are. I kinda loved it even though it felt frustrating that Hulk couldn't be a part of the big fight. It just showed another layer to Hulk/Banner that felt important and deeper than it all. And haha the classic Tony lines get me every time. The comedy balance in this was yet again amazing!

Kali Wali

😭

Kali Wali

Absolutely agree. The weight of everything over the past years made this fall feel inevitable. But still so horrible and devastating. The Avengers began Phase 3 completely fractured.. They were fight both Thanos AND the consequences of everything that already happened. And it showed.. But I'm definitely still holding onto Doctor Strange's quote. This was the only way..

Kali Wali

Oh man... I know it's already going to be high up there. I never would have thought we'd see an Avengers movie where they actually lost... Wow

Kali Wali

Thank you!! It's been so crazy over here haha

Kali Wali

YES! I haven't seen Star Wars or Batman? Is that the Joker? But now with this kind of comparison I'm both nervous and so ready to! Thanos was terrifying. Truly. And this was his movie, not the Avenger's.

Kali Wali

Experiencing this in theatres must have been a once in a lifetime experience that you'll always remember! I completely agree that this movie changed EVERYTHING. It set a whole new standard, reshaped everything, and left a huge impact that I still feel in my soul. I've loved this MCU journey so much, but nothing could have prepared me for where we ended up! Thank you for being here enjoying my MCU reactions! Sharing this experience with MCU fans has been amazing & the closest I'll get to that theatre buzz! 😭🩷

Kali Wali

Yes this movie was stunning. Things got bad in Civil War and it ended on a low note. But this is the first real loss they all suffered together. The first loss that had universe altering consequences. Not only that, they didn't win at all once Thanos entered the game. Yeah Thanos believes he's being noble. And on some level he has a point about life and resources. But you can tell he also wants to do this. He's enjoying it. Look at his glee while torturing Nebula. Sure he gave up Gamorra, who he loved as much as he could love anyone, but he didn't care at all about anyone or anything else. The theater experience seeing this for the first time on opening day was like no other experience I've ever had. As others have said, the whole theater sat there in silence during the credits. There were sniffles and a few soft whispers, but it was like everyone was in shock. I don't think I even got up until the lights fully came on. It was a quiet walk past everyone lined up for the next showing too. I can only imagine what they thought seeing our reactions. LOL The wait for Endgame was excruciating. But there were at least rumors already at the time of the next Spiderman movie in the works. So there was a tiny ray of hope, plus whoever that was Nick Fury called. Comic fans knew who it was, but most people I'm sure were googling it the second they could. (Like I did LOL) Great reaction! And yeah the tears flowed freely through me. Especially when Peter disappeared.

Marty McGee

I can't help but draw the parallels between Thanos and the Reapers from Mass Effect. Yes they're very different. But also still carry that theme of "salvation through extinction". And in so many ways, their argument 'makes sense' like you said, and it's easy to see the gray area in a Thanos' viewpoint, that doesn't make him purely evil. But for him and the Reapers, everything is purely mathematical. The calculus as Thanos says. And where I see their 'perfect' moral argument falling apart, is that humanity (and all other living species) are flawed. We are perfectly imperfect. There's a lot more to what constitutes a happy life, than what Thanos can see. He made that decision for all life, he doesn't let the people decide. What would people on earth say? Would a starving man say yes to killing half the planet? Maybe? But my faith in the human spirit tells me most wouldn't. And that's ultimately the biggest failing I see in Thanos' view Now to look at some positives, one of my favorite things about this movie was seeing all of the different worlds of the MCU coming together and seeing all of our favorite heroes meeting each other! The Guardians finally integrated with the Avengers, Black Panther, Dr. Strange, and so many others. And set up for some great banter. Strange to Quill "Which master do you serve?" "What am I supposed to say? Jesus??" LOL Also Thor!! I really loved Thor in this movie, and he's definitely in my top 5 now thanks to the side of his character that we saw here (sorry Black Widow, you're off haha). Thor had always been pompous and arrogant to some degree. More so in the first film, sure, but even still in Ragnarok too. He always had a "I got this" vibe to him. But seeing him after losing everything, and still finding something to fight for, made him so human. His entrance to Wakanda was so epic that we needed three repeats of the Avengers theme to commemorate it hahaha I saw this movie in the theater, but I had barely kept up with the MCU at that point, so it really didn't hit me too hard. But watching this again a few weeks ago after methodically working through the MCU with you.... it hit like a truck. The weight of all the decisions and their consequences are so heavy because of how closely we've come to know these characters. I actually have still never watched Endgame lol, so I'm as in the dark as you are about what happens next. After having recently watched the next Antman film and Captain Marvel, I am soooo excited to watch Endgame this weekend!! Really enjoyed your reaction!! Thank you for taking us through this journey in the MCU with you

M1 Maz

Thanos is an idiot, he could have just doubled the resources. He just loves all the killing.

Doug Watson

Thank you sweet rabbit. I love that Thor calls him that.

Doug Watson

i dunno why i lol'd when it said thanos will return and u seemed mad lol. "Isnt he retired???"

Phil Tilly

That breath you took before your final comments, then the one after them said it all about how ready you were for this one. This one was hyped up in a major way when it was coming out, but nobody, NOBODY! was ready for what we seen in the theater. I will say the way they did this with little bits of humor in between big emotional moments helped but not enough. They've done this with all the marvel movies, interject humor into powerful emotional times but this one was unlike any other. Leaving the theater was strange and the drive home, about 15 minutes, and then sitting at home was indescribable. Just trying to process what I had seen 30 minutes earlier and theorizing what was coming next 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 Marvel also did a fantastic job of making you see both sides of the story and being sympathetic about the villians reasoning. They did it in several movies. Like you said, it was wrong but you could see the logic behind it. If Thanos had got the stones in any other order, this outcome would have, I think 🤔, been different 🤷‍♂️ One thing Marvel has done is set a precedence that no one is off limits. Every character is prone to die. They keep you on the edge on purpose. If you notice, 5 of the 6 original Avengers survived the snap, or least we think they do. Hawkeye was not in this one so don't know his fate. I've said it before, I've watched these movies so many times and know what's coming but I cry every time I watch these movies. That's one thing, of a few, about your reactions is that you cry and have real honest emotions and don't apologize for it and you shouldn't. I've seen others react to movies and apologize for there emotions. Takes away from the authenticity of their reaction imo. You are my #1 reactor, and it's not even close‼️‼️‼️‼️ I haven't done a rating of characters in awhile but Cap is still #1 As always, LOVED IT! On to Antman and the Wasp.

P T

Oh and yes, the theaters were quiet as a tomb. No talking, not laughing. Just the sound of silence and tears. No one said anything for the entire credits. For the entire walk out of the theater. For the entire walk to the car. For the entire drive home.

The Dingo

Ok get your tissues again. The writers have confirmed that when Groot said "I am Groot" as he died and looked at Rocket, he was actually saying... "Dad" If you would like to know if you survived the Snap, go to https://www.didthanoskill.me/ I'm sure I have more thoughts to share but I'm short on time, so I'll comment again later.

The Dingo

First for the real experience, wait 1 year to watch Endgame....no don't do that but know we had to and that at the time absolutely sucked. You will feel the urge to watch it right away but you have (as you know) 2 more movies to watch first. Here is my story so bear with me. At first I didn't get into the MCU. Some of the characters they were using were considered mostly B level Marvel characters and I was super into the X-Men growing up. I think if I remember right I decided to watch Iron Man a year or 2 later because I heard they were going to work towards and team up movie, The Avengers. I was blown away and got caught up as fast as I could. I watched every movie that came out, but at first I just rented them. I would watch each one a dozen times though at least. I went to them in theaters here and there but after Ant Man, I never missed another one out of theaters for a 1st watch again. Then I really got curious. I found a couple of YouTube channels that were devoted to this content and would explain everything that I didn't understand or have knowledge of because I didn't read the comics. I really couldn't get enough. You get the point. So, when Infinity War came out I was terrified something would get spoiled before I went and saw it. My days off are Mon/Tues so I would usually wait until then but not this time. I went to a late showing on Thursday night of opening weekend. The theater was completely sold out. I watched in stunned silence and disbelief as most of the people around me did. I was floored by Gamora's death because we all knew at the time there was a Guardians 3 coming, so it didn't make sense to me. By the end of the movie when people started dusting, especially the ones I knew had movies coming later my mind was spinning. Marvel has used mis-direction in so many things to throw people off of spoilers I worried that this was all real. When the credits started to roll, the entire theater sat there in stunned silence and shock. No one moved until after the post credit scene and even then, everyone sort of just shuffled out in shock. I hated this movie but I also loved it. I hated because of how it made me feel and watching you watch it for the 1st time I felt every emotion I did back then that I did before. This is Thanos's movie and for a long time I couldn't rewatch it (except the one time after I bought the Blu Ray) I was in denial and I just knew I had to be patient until the year was up and I could see Endgame. I absorbed every bit of material and breakdowns I could to try and find the answers but Marvel did there job and made it next to impossible to predict, at least for me. 14,000,000,605 possibilities, and only 1 will work. I can't imagine I will ever feel this experience again with any movie. Never have I felt that much raw emotion at the time and I was so irritated that I had to wait a full year to finish the story. You felt everything and I am so glad that 90% or more was not spoiled at all for you. It was great to watch it with you and your fresh eyes. (Btw, nice mug 👍)

Every villian is a hero of their own story in their own eyes.... your points about being conflicted about Thanos' intentions/motivations are spot on. This kind of confliction is exactly what makes the perfect "villian" to me. This is a REALLY tough movie to survive - I saw it in a theater a week after it was released, and I'm betting nearly half of that audience had already seen the movie at least once - yet in the showing I attended, not a single person in front of me got up during the credits. I can't say whether they were just waiting for a post credits scene or simply stunned, but I do know that it's the only time I've experienced an audience leave the theater en masse in nearly complete silence. It was just plain wild. You've made the investment of getting to know all of these characters, and investing in them. Now you've sufferred why all of that made this film so critical in importance for that investment. It's a true fan-hero journey for everyone. Congratulations. Keep going. <3

That's what I love about this whole saga. In trying to explain why the events of this movie happened, you can trace a path all the way back to the beginning. The Avengers failed here because they were divided in Civil War. The events of Civil War are a result of the events of Age of Ultron (The death of Zemo's family, and Tony's guilt leading him to think they should be put in check) and Winter Soldier (Steve losing his trust in Governments). Those events go back to the first Avengers movie (Tony's PTSD after seeing the alien army) and Cap's first movie (with the rise of Hydra). And of course, it all started with Tony announcing himself as Iron Man, causing him to be recruited by the Avengers.

watching a movie with you is like watching in emotionvision

Here we go!

Okay so this is going to be jumbled and I will try not to make this a 10 page essay lmao But Infinity War might be my favorite film in the MCU, and not for reasons most would think. If you know some stuff about literacy and writing, I want to go technical for a second. If you look up screentimes, Thanos actually has the most time in this movie, clocking in at 31 minutes. Normally, protagonists have the most screentime. And that's the thing. Thanos is the protagonist of this film. That doesn't neccesarily mean hero. But he is the one whom we observe going on a personal journey. We learn more about him as his story goes on, and by the end he is permanently changed by the experience. And the Avengers are there to stop him. Thanos is the main character of Infinity War and that is something that's so perfectly done. Thanos is my favorite part of Infinity War because.... well he isn't wrong 😅 There's lots of real life professors and philosophers (Malthus being the most notable) that beleive and spoke about over population and the need to control that because we won't have the resources to survive. He's such an interesting person because I would say he actually isn't selfish. Yes he has a goal, but he isn't sitting on his throne sending his lackeys to do it for him. He is the one going on this journey himself, his mission honestly seems like it takes a religious significance to him. Like the man is a full on zealot. But he respects the people when they stand in his way. Like he respects Tony, and one other thing I'll gush about in a second, is how he looks at Steve when he grabs the gauntlet. But Thanos just took me by storm, he didn't do a "good" thing, he did the neccesary thing in his eyes, and it's just wild how he carried himself. He wasn't arrogant, or narcissistic, or so blinded by his mission he didn't listen to anyone. He had conversations with the people he fought. He broke his own heart by sacrificing his daughter for this mission. (There's actually a really sad fan theory that at Vormir, the soul to be sacrificed wasn't Gamoras, but Thanos himself 😭) So some other smaller things that are super cool and noteworthy. For one, Steve in Wakanda. Captain America is my favorite superhero just as a whole, and there's even more reason here why he's amazing. In the final battle against Thanos with the 5 stones, all the people who ran to fight him and got knocked down or incapacitated, didn't get up again. Steve got blasted early, but he is the only person there that got back up and fought him again. When he grabbed Thanos gauntlet and held it, Thanos gave Steve a look, of shock, but I think also respect. He was shocked that a human had this strength, but also resilience. Of course, Cap has that in droves cause he can do this all day, but man I absolutely love that moment. Steve giving his all there, and even the villain noticed it. Tony and Thor had such a bad break here. Thor was on his last legs to recover all the loss he's suffered, and he failed here. Tony has been struggling since Civil War to hold on go his soul, after losing Steve, and the Avengers. But, all the guilt and fear comes right back, watching Peter die slowly. Tony loses himself, in the worst of ways. That vision he had of all his friends dead in Age of Ultron came true. And you just know Tony will blame himself completely. I could gush about this film all day, it's shocking how they have you almost rooting for the villain, not because you want him to succeed, but because of his conviction. I mean, Thanos worked hard for it and gave his all to do what he believed to be right. Anyways, I agree that Ant-Man and the Wasp is some much needed levity after this intense tragedy 😭 See you then Kali!

Lorenzo Baxter

It is my assumption that every planet Thanos would attack and kill half the population of he would also steal a child. So Maw and the diversity of other aliens around Thanos are his "children" whom he stole from the planets he slaughtered. Great reaction.

David Thompson

Kali OMG I just realized you have watched Infinity War!! You know how sometimes anticipation for something is almost 😉as good as the actual thing? You + Infinity War + Endgame has been in me for 2 months now. I know your tears will break my heart 😭. I know it's hard to believe but Endgame is even more epic, amazing, powerful, and emotional. Prepare to have whatever is left of your brain and heart blown to smithereens 😲😵‍💫 You can take it, you're strong.

Richard

The exceptionally careful motion-capture, CGI modeling and Josh Brolin's performance, to say nothing of the writing and direction, just makes Thanos in this one of the all-time great movie villains, easily. I also like how you pointed out the events of Civil War led to the failure of this. So Helmut Zemo, in trying to get simple vengeance on a small group of people, ensured the deaths of half the life in the entire universe.

JD Nevesytrof

It’s funny that you want to live vicariously through us, because the appeal of the reaction concept for me is to experience these movies again for the first time, through your eyes. I’ve seen this movie several times now on reaction channels, and each reactor has their own perspective that makes it feel new each time. Yours is empathic and thoughtful, especially talking about the themes. Also, don’t worry about knowing the names of future movies and shows, they might still surprise you.

Paul M

well loki did die but the show will explain what happened. if you watch it after endgame and wandavision with context.

Nyaja Jackson

Something I would love to see you react to at some point is the Daredevil show. Not only because they start to reference its events and characters in Phase 4, but also because it's just really, really good. I think it's easily one of the best things Marvel has put out (though this movie is pretty high up there too, lol).

Malcolm Ferguson

Infinity War was definitely peak MCU, literally. My two biggest points with the Movie is Heroes and Heroines have to lose from time to time (one of the biggest problems in modern Hollywood) because if you never lose there is no risk, tensionand its boring cause the audience already knows what will happen. That is one of the biggest problems with the MCU from p4 and onwards but i wont dig deeper into that now, maybe you will see it by yourself. The second one is that Thanos is not a Villain, he is an Antagonist and someone i can totally understand and in some form relate to (will come to that later) Imho Thanos is not selfish and he wasnt insane when he made the suggestion to his people to sacrifice half of their population so the other half can survive. You have a daughter, i have three kids and a wife. Wouldnt you die willingly so she can live!? Pretty sure you would. The Questions is more about how far would we all go if we would be in a similar Situation where our Technology, our knowledge and understanding cant solve a problem where the outcome is that our civilisation will go extinct? Selfishness comes from a drive of greed and ignorance or intolerance. He wasnt that at all. He thought this is the right way to prevent a similar fate to other civilsations what his own went through. Was he insane in that, yes, but you have to think about where he came from. Think about Gollum. He wasnt evil but the ring made him that. Thanos Ring was seeing his civilsation went extinct. Just a little insight into my life and why i can relate to him. I work in Country Development for nearly 30 years now (yes im an older white toxic man XD) and believe me i have seen things which would break most people. I dont talk about it with no one other than my colleagues cause i dont wanna give this burden to anyone. I live in Germany most of the year and coming back from those Countries and regions felt very strange cause of the brutal difference between here and there. My Job changed me a lot. I realized how much of a protected life i lived before these and how much ignorance and short sight was born out of that and i could see that in my friends, family and all the people around me. It wasnt there fault, it was just the life they knew and for a human their own problems are always the most relevant. No one is to blame. Shortly after that i stopped going out with my friends and family, i withdrew from my social life cause i couldnt stand what i saw. What i wanna say with all of that. I know for a fact that a lot of people i encountered due to my job would give their life to save their child, sister, brother, mother or father. I can understand that and i would never call them insane. I can see Thanos being in an unimagineable fear for seeing his Family, Friends and Civilisation die. If its clear that they tried everything to survive and nothing worked and the only thing that could save their species is mass suicide, wouldnt that be the right decision? I mean, do you think his People thought at the end "we will all die but atleast we didnt follow this insane Thanos." or maybe, just maybe they thought "If only we had done it." Who won, i know awkward wording, at the end, Thanos or the rest of his Species? And what would that kind of experience to to each of us? Seeing your loved ones die, seeing your whole Civilisation die. Wouldnt that drive us crazy? Would you not go nuts eeing you Daughter and Husband die, your Parents or In-laws? Your Friends? All of them. IOf you know that youzr suggestion could have saved some of them and now you are alone in the Universe, wouldnt that change you to an extent were you might think "i dont want anyone else to expereince that." Of course some of them would because they would might lose Friends and Family because of the finger snap but from Thanos point of view he thinks iots the right thing to do. That point in his motivation is clearly insane but it comes from this experience of seeing his whole life shattered. Thanos is no villain, he is not evil at the beginning of his Journey but the path he followed made him one. Thats it. I have to think about my comments to the Matrix and the Hobbit. Atleast the Matrix one might be a bit more complex cause living in a simulation is a complex topic. Anyway, huge love to you and your family Kali. Take care dear. One last thing that came to my mind. Evil can sometimes look insane and sometimes insanity can look evil. Its the difficulty to see the difference which is important.

Curaitis

Hulk coming to the realization that he could be vulnerable and possibly dead and dealing with that fear brought an interesting and welcome angle to his story. Classic Tony making it all about him, “Dude, you're embarrassing me in front of the wizard.”

Richard

no spidey in top 8?

rubberkidney

So many factors played into the outcome. The Avengers torn apart from Civil War. Vision becoming more human and more vulnerable. Banner at odds with the Hulk. Thor still reeling from losing his home, family and people through Ragnarok. Peter Quill's series of devestating heart breaks regarding his mother, adoptive father and now his true love. And yet we can only hope Doctor Strange is right: this was the only way.

KJ Gould

So I've maintained that this was the "Empire Strikes Back" for a newer generation and I feel like its legacy will bear that out in time.

JD Nevesytrof

I'm in the same boat, got about 7 hours of work left then another hour commute to get home. Gonna be a very long day.

Christopher Larimer

Now my day can be perfectly balanced when I watch this after work.

Ian Forbes

As a comic book fan seeing the snap in the theaters brought to life still felt like a gut punch even though I knew it was coming. Nothing but hearing gasps and the nooooos when the movie ended. Curious to see where this is rated on the list after you are done with end game.

TheJoeKerr

Happy Moving Day!!!

P T

Getting ready to watch I'm gonna enjoy it. I know. Nothing prepares you for this movie. Just imagine walking out of a theater after this and thinking, what do I do now.

P T

I remember the night of the premiere. Leaving that theater, everybody was in shock as to what had happened. Dead silence. In my opinion it took just one movie to catapult Thanos into legendary level of villains like the likes of Darth Vader, The Joker etc. I can't wait to watch later on with you!

JESSEMLR1

I will be watching this late tonight or tomorrow morning and will share my thoughts after. Just reading your comment breaks my heart for you.

The Dingo

I knew this reaction would come out now! I am 2 hours into my shift with 9 more to go, and I cannot wait to get home! Kali, this movie is a true spectacle. Getting to experience this in theaters with the rest of the world was an event to behold. I am not prepared to go through this emotional journey again with your emotions attached this time around lol. This movie changed the course of how people would view Marvel and superhero movies (in general) for the foreseeable future. It changed everything. I really can't believe that we are already here. I am so grateful and so proud of you for taking this journey! Of course, it is far from over, but I just want to show my appreciation. It has truly been an honor. Thank you

iameNeRG (Rodney Gant)

I can't wait to watch this 😁

FigLeaf Bicarbonate

I still remember when we saw this on opening day with a full theater of ~400 people... not a sound as the credits ran. Everyone was like... wtf? We all knew Thanos was coming but still expected a Avengers movie. But no, this was a Thanos movie. Luckily for you, you don't have to wait another year for EndGame.

Rippan

The tone of this the entire time was so dark and ominous.. Thanos is SO powerful. All I felt was fear and pain this entire movie lol. So well written and done!

Kali Wali

I will be watching at 3. looking forward to every laugh and moment of heartbreak

Jim

Oh no. I have not watched it yet but i already feel bad for you 😅 this and next ones are very emotional.

Slow Shadow

I get why everyone has been freaking out now about Thanos. I kinda figured he'd be coming. But not like this...

Kali Wali

Ahh I'll fix the description! But I can't fix what I say in the video.. Definitely thought it was 4 haha, sorry

Kali Wali

"Thanos will return"

Rippan

not to split hairs, but it's one in fourteen million :-/
