The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (Extended Edition) | Full Reaction

This trilogy, for all its grand spectacle and quiet moments of wonder, was a true homecoming! A chance to sit and dwell once more in the world of hobbits and heroes, of adventure and sacrifice, where even the smallest person can change the entire course of history.

Thank you all so much for joining me in this adventure. As fellow travelers, it's been such an honor to reminisce and deep dive with you all through the world of Tolkien. Even though our time in the Hobbit films has ended, the road still winds on! The pages of Tolkien's books await us to dive deeper into the words that started it all! Until then, may your hearts be light, your spirits unburdened, and may we always remember that even the smallest act of kindness can shine bright in the darkest night ✨

This is an awesome idea to do a Q&A video on here for Patreon members quarterly! I really love it and will think about beginning that the end of this month/the beginning of March ✨ I really need to make a letterbox account! I was planning to start it last week, but you know how life got for me haha. So I'll be trying to sit down and finally get one started over the weekend for you all :) It won't be very full. I've only seen a handful of shows/movies so far, but it'll also help everyone make suggestions and know what I've seen so far!

Kali, I sure hope you're ok . . .

The original trilogy and these Hobbit movies, especially, really highlight the power that temptation and greed can hold over people. I could tell from your face how you felt about the squabble between the Dwarves, Elves, and men over the loot in the mountain. That it finally took a glimpse at a world ending enemy to put aside the petty differences and materialistic pursuits to unite. There's a lot of parallels with human history too. Thorin's final words really are so true For this movie basically being one giant battle, there were still a lot of great meaningful moments. And what stands out for me, is how significant of an impact that someone like a hobbit can have. Someone so small, and one that could be easily considered insignificant. But through his hope, and through his unwavering belief in Thorin, he finally got through to his heart, and snapped him out of his delusion. The ripple from a pebble in a pond that turns into a tsunami. A tsunami that rids the world of darkness I love the end credits so much! Between the song and its lyrics, and the drawings of all the characters, it feels like a fond farewell to this world after six movies. Enjoy the books!! May they bring you some peace among the chaos of this move, when you finally have some time to sit down and get cozy with them

Honestly, never thought about rewatching these but I did it because I enjoy your reactions. The entire 3rd movie to me was just a battle from almost start to finish. When you mentioned you would share your thoughts on the books in video form it made me think. You ever consider maybe doing a monthly or quarterly question and answer type video? Also, with film suggestions, I know there is a website out there called letterbox you can go through and choose the films you already seen, but something like that could give people an idea of what films to also suggest that you haven't seen? Not sure what you're planning on tackling next but that might help populate some polls of movie suggestions. I'm sure you will share with us what your plans are but I thought I would throw that out there.

Wow, even your little write ups are a joy to read to preface a great reaction.

The end credit song (The Last Goodbye) is written & performed by Billy Boyd, also known as Pippin :) The lyrics are lines straight from the books.

Thorin going out the way that he did is tough especially since the only thing that could have saved him in that situation was the Mithril shirt he gave to Bilbo..If he kept the shirt and wore it for himself he would have survived :(

John Smith

I love these movies. Have watched them many times. Comparison is the thief of joy and I am glad the negativity didn't ruin your experience. I agree that the second one is the best film of the 3, but all of them are enjoyable. The cast is excellent.

I'm glad you enjoyed this trilogy. I've felt that when these movies first ran they got a lot of undeserved feelings of disgruntlement and/or apathy. While LotR will always be my favorie between the two trilogies, I thought everything with the entirity of PJ's efforts in both were superior to most other fantasy genre movies that I had seen. There is another PJ oriented production about legends regarding Rohan - it is animated, so it is definitely different, but worth a watch, especially after you finish Tolkien's books and dive into the appendices a bit. Have a great read of (still) one of the greatest fantasy stories ever written, the stories that inspired nearly every other good one in the same genre.

I’m guessing 50,000 subscribers after you post Endgame.

Richard

What a multi-tasker! Can’t believe you had any energy for this after moving. But apparently you are a petite little cutie-patootie of a powerhouse 😂

Richard

I enjoyed watching these movies again. This has been an epic journey! Watching it with your reactions brought back the same feelings from the time I watched it for the first time. Thank you for watching The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. I'm glad you enjoyed watching them! Will you also be reacting to The Ring of Power series? Game of Thrones is another good watch if you're looking for another story in the same genre. It's one of the greatest epic TV series. But it's a very dark fantasy story that can also be hard to watch at times.
