Spider-Man: Far From Home | Full Reaction

Coming right after Endgame, this felt like the perfect way to close out this incredible phase of the MCU. I loved how they honored the fallen Avengers, especially Tony Stark. His presence was everywhere, from the murals on the walls to the way Happy and Peter talked about him. It really hit me how much the world was struggling to move on without him, just like Peter was. His loss was a central part of this entire story, and that made everything feel so much more special and meaningful.

What I loved the most, though, was Peter's journey. It wasn't about him trying to replace Tony or live up to some impossible standard. It was about him realizing that he really didn't have to. Tony didn't love Peter because he saw another version of himself. He loved Peter for exactly who he was. And I absolutely loved when that realization hit Peter and we finally got to see him come into his own as Spider-Man. Trusting himself and his Peter-Tingle (which, why WHY was that the name given lol). This was such a perfect farewell to Phase 3, filled with so much heart, loss, and hope for what's next. See you all in Phase 4!

Spider-Man: Far From Home | Full Reaction

Comments

None of the shows are "awful" just not quite up to the quality expected from the MCU up to that point, even the "bad" ones are still fun watches.

Jake Follain

There are, I think, only TWO people in the MCU who get away with calling him by his first name. One was Director Pierce, from Winter Soldier, who called him Nick. The other one, you haven't met yet.

Cory Stanish

Captain Marvel is actually the reason Rotten Tomatoes doesn't allow people to review movies that haven't released yet. It got review-bombed with 58,000 negative reviews and had a 38% audience score months before the movie actually came out!

Cory Stanish

Spider-Man is pretty blessed among superheroes in the sense that he's had three different movie franchises and they're all good!

Cory Stanish

Yeah, If I remember right Rachel Zegler said the Prince was a stalker and sexually assaulted Snow White because he didn't have consent to kiss Snow White. Plus, Zegler had pro political views about Palestine while Gal Gadot had pro political views about Isreal, so yeah lots of drama. lol

McShades

She Hulk was horrible, I didn’t make it through Ep 1. She was good in the comics though

Richard

I'll definitely keep that in mind! I'll try to just go in with an open mind and if I like it, I like it. If not, then I'll be honest lol. But I can usually find the good in most things. It's kinda my blessing/curse in life 😭🤣

Kali Wali

I can see that! Excited to see the next one now! Also I looooved all the Iron Man tributes and Happy's pep talk, too. Probably my favorite parts of it all for sure.

Kali Wali

I can totally see why! I also struggled a bit with the peter tingle lol. Like it's fine that Aunt May calls it that, and even Happy. But Peter himself? Nah

Kali Wali

Yes! I'm excited to watch those for sure :)

Kali Wali

WHAT. No wonder haha. Did you see that the new Snow-White movie that is coming out didn't have a tour of any sort because both of the main leading actresses were just bad at talking to media?? It's always funny to me how much these poor actors can mess up and ruin a whole movie just because of what they say outside of the studio 😭🤣👀 "The joys of social media" for sure lol

Kali Wali

For sure! I've heard from a few that I need to make sure to watch those before jumping into the next Spider-Man MCU film, so I'm excited to do that. Also really looking forward to another spin on Spider-Man!

Kali Wali

Ahhh I didn't pick up on that! If I didn't miss it, that def would have been a huge giveaway!

Kali Wali

Yes! She-Hulk just kinda made my stomach hurt lol

Kali Wali

Yes, Peter's journey in this one was so good and wholesome! Again! I love how, even with all his powers, he still feels like such a regular high school kid just trying to figure things out. That balance between being brilliant and being relatable is what makes him such a great character. Tom Holland captures it perfectly! His energy, awkwardness, and the way he wears every single emotion on his sleeve just makes him soooo super relatable. I'm excited to finally check out the other Spider-Man movies, too! It'll be interesting to see how each version brings something different to the character. And WandaVision! I can't wait for that one, too. I've heard soo many good things and hype from when it first came out so I'm really looking forward to finally diving in espeeecially with everything I know about her up to this point!

Kali Wali

I am sooo surprised I haven't thought of that parallel yet between Peter and Atreus! I love that you brought it up because it makes so much sense. The way they both struggle under the weight of expectations and how easily that leaves them open to manipulation. YES! And yeah, Mysterio really does pull a huge Tyr move there haha. Stepping in when Peter is the most vulnerable and shaping the entire narrative to his own advantage. That "grandmaster of illusions" title really is so fitting for both of them! Not a stretch at all, to me. I see it and I think it's an awesome connection! And yes! That shift from Peter in Homecoming to this movie really hit me. The way this movie captures those emotions was done so well. Especially in the shadow of Endgame. The world is grieving, adapting, and trying to figure out what comes next. Just like Peter! I'm really excited to finally experience the Spider-Man movies! It's awesome hearing how each actor brings something unique to the Spider-Man role. I've loveeeeed Tom Holland's so much. But I'm excited to see how different Tobey Macguire's is in comparison! And seriously, that means so much to me. It was a bit difficult to start recording again with this one. I was a bit more on edge and teary haha. I mean, I cried at a high school kiss 🤣🤣🤣 But diving back into work really helped me this week. Grandma is still hanging in there, which I think is what is keeping me still sane right now :) The phone calls have been hard, but it's been really great talking about old memories from the good days. I really appreciate all the kindness and support more than I can say 💕

Kali Wali

Interesting that this one got flak too, because I loved it LOL. Mysterio is an interesting villain. The concept of not really knowing what's real is really well executed throughout this entire movie. The whole illusion sequence with Peter was INSANE. And the whole time I kept thinking about how truly terrified Peter must have been in that moment. But it was awesome seeing how he could defeat Mysterio by tapping into that Spidey-Sense! It was an awesome way to branch on his arc and come into his own! And ugh yes, I remember realizing through comments that Peter knew something was up because of that Spidey-Sense. It made that moment so much more heartbreaking.. Peter's powers literally trying to hold on to anything. I'm really excited for WandaVision! I appreciate the X-Men recommendations, too! I haven't seen them yet, but knowing they are important now down the road in the MCU has me definitely checking them out. Looking forward to it! See you then!

Kali Wali

Hahaha I can't help it. Every time a villain starts vocally villaining my brain just goes "Really? We're just saying the quiet part out loud now?" 🤣 And wow, very interesting take on Mysterio! This was my first introduction to Mysterio. he really makes you trust him at first and it makes his betrayal sting a bit more because of that. I hadn't really considered the real-life angle because I live under a rock when it comes to celebrity lives lol. But I can definitely see how that feeling of realizing someone isn't who you thought they were makes it even more unsettling. Adn yeah, if you're THAT good at pretending to be a good person, why not just be one instead? It makes him a very frustrating villain hahaha

Kali Wali

My advice is, try not to go in with too many expectations about which series are good or bad based on what you heard. I think opinions are more divided on some of them than the Internet would lead you to believe. Like there's a couple that everyone says aren't good that are my FAVORITES and there's one that everybody seems to love that I didn't think too highly of. For my money, I wouldn't describe any of them as "awful" to be honest. I will confess to being kinda bummed that you'll be skipping She-Hulk because it's easily one of my favorites but I'll survive :D

Cory Stanish

Of the three Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, this is probably my least favourite, but that's more due to just how good the other two are than anything wrong with this movie. I still really enjoy this one. The humour is great, and I love Happy's pep-talk to Peter. And of course, all the Iron Man tributes.

Malcolm Ferguson

spider sense is really one of spidermans most powerful and important abilities, dont really love them trivializing it so much. a few fun jokes is fine but at some point you gotta give it the respect.

rubberkidney

Just as a follow-up, it occurred to me that another thing that might have made Love and Thunder harder to connect with was, since you hadn't seen the first two Thor films and Jane Foster wasn't in Ragnarok, her return and story in Love and Thunder might not have hit the way it probably would now because you didn't know who she was and had no context for her or her arc (both as an individual and as Thor's love). I'd bet, because of that, her relationship with Thor probably seemed forced and confusing not having any previous experience with her and Thor as a couple. It was interesting to hear the other thing you didn't care for prior to your full MCU journey was She-Hulk. As it happens, I regrettably agree; it's one of the few post-Phase 3 MCU entries I didn't care for either, and as far as I can tell, nothing released afterwards has made it terribly necessary, anyway, so I think you're okay there if you choose not to revisit it. On the other hand, Moon Knight's unusually stand-alone too, but it's very good, so I'm very much looking forward to you getting to that one in due course. I hope you're doing okay today, all things considered. I know how hard it all must be for you, so just take care of you. We'll be here whenever you're ready. All my best.

Andy Jordan

I really hope your going to watch The Amzaing Spider-man 1 and 2, its no secret there are many different comic book itterations of Spider-man and i gotta say that The Amazing Spider-man movies go down the rabbit hole of my favourite version of Peter Parker and Spider-man and characters you havent seen yet.

Kristoffer Smedegaard

As for the dislike towards Captain Marvel, I think some of that is against the actress herself, she made some comments before the movie came out, something about white males shouldn't review her movies, or something like that, I don't remember exactly what she said, and then it turned into a fight with Marvel fans. I'm sure the whole thing was stupid and over exaggerated, but it seemed to turn a lot of fans against her personally. The joys of social media lol. I thought the movie was ok, her character's personality got a bit annoying sometimes but overall, I thought it was a decent Marvel Movie.

McShades

Would definitely start your prior Spidey films with the Tobey Maguire films and then movie on to the Andrew Garfield ones before No Way Home. Also Sam Raimi directed a few of those (including no way home) and he also gets to direct another different MCU film in phase 4 too. You'll always know Sam Raimi films because the guy from Raimi's Evil Dead Films (Bruce Campbell) makes cameos in almost all of them. Happy for your positive attitude about Phase 4 - they're certainly not all quite to the standard that Phase 3 set (imo) but to me, none of them are nearly as terrible as the internet likes to make out, I actually think there are a couple of real gems in there!

Matthew Murdick

I enjoyed your confusion about "Maria Hill" and "Fury." The first line of the movie is Maria calling Fury "Nick." Which should have been a dead give-away considering Fury saying everyone calling him Fury, even his mom in Captain Marvel. I hope this doesn't sound mean.

Doug Watson

I think you're right about both Captain Marvel and She-Hulk. Captain Marvel is a fun movie and Sam Jackson and Brie Larson are funny and great together. But She-Hulk is really bad; you're not missing anything there.

dhz8771

I do love Peter's journey in this one. Peter Parker/Spider-Man has always been my favorite Marvel character from the first time I picked up a comic book, and I love this MCU version. Other than being absolutely brilliant he's just an ordinary kid. Until he gained his powers. Even then he's still just an ordinary kid struggling with normal kid problems: first love, high school, bullies, etc. Tom Holland plays him so well. It's been a joy ever since he first appeared in Civil War. The MCU version is my favorite, but I like both of the Tobey MacGuire and Andrew Garfield iterations as well. And can't wait for you to dive into WandaVision!

Marty McGee

For those who haven't played God of War Ragnarok, maybe skip this first paragraph bc minor spoilers :) Okay, so on this second watch through, I couldn't help but see some parallels with Peter's story and that of Atreus! The father figure in Tony that he loves and respects, but is putting so much pressure onto himself to live up to. And then Mysterio, like 'Tyr' coming in when he's at his lowest, gaslighting and manipulating him. Using moments when Fury is pushing him away to step in and gain Peter's trust. And of course being the grandmaster of illusions lol. But then Peter finally realizing that he has his own story to tell and his own path to follow! Maybe I'm stretching a bit haha, but that's just how I saw it I love what you pointed out at the end with Peter's flip between the first movie and this one. Sometimes you want something so bad, that you're willing to sacrifice it all to get there. But when you finally do, it feels so unexpected and foreign that you don't know how to handle it. And it's just a whole new level of struggle. Very relatable. Also, this was definitely a great way to ease us down from Endgame. The world very much felt like it was recoiling from the aftermath. The confusion and uncertainty, and of course all the tributes to Tony Really excited to see you watch the original Spider-Man movies when the time is right! I've watched through 4/5 of them so far and have loved them! It's been really cool to see how each of the three actors gives their own special vibe to the character And of course, you and your grandma continue to be in my thoughts, and I wish you all the best. And I hope that you're doing as good as you can be

M1 Maz

Yeah I really enjoy this movie, but this was another one of those that actually gets quite a lot of flak, along with Captain Marvel. Mysterio is a really cool villain. In the comics, he is a very famous entertainer, that breaks bad, and uses his skill sets with illusions and becomes a criminal. Not knowing what's real, is such an interpreting prospect, and it's very well done when interacting with Spider-Man. You'll see more angles on Spider-Man as a character in the older movies, but one of his greatest abilities is his Spidey-Sense, as coined in the comics. (Much better than Peter Tingle 😅) He can sense nearly any danger to him, and can respond with insane levels of reflexes. Even to the point of sensing danger before it even occurs. Peter grabbing Becks gun before it even fires is one of my favorite moments in the movie. In fact, a really sad tidbit about Peter back in Infinity War when he got snapped.... he was saying something is happening and as you may remember, it seemed to take him longer to fade to dust than anyone else. That wasn't just for the dramatic effect. His Spidey Sense felt that he was going to die, and his powers tried to hold on as long as he could. Super tragic that a kid was holding on, who knows how that must've felt in the moment. 😭 This is a really good ending chapter to Phase 3 I think. You are in for a really crazy time with Wandavision. Although, I will say another Marvel series that would be good to check out at some point would be the X-Men series. I know you are very busy watching so much already, but the Fox X-Men movies are a really important chapter in Marvel and I think you'd really enjoy them. (They also help with some context for things you will eventually see in the MCU, as Marvel is in the process of beginning to include much of the lore that the X-Men have, into Phase 6 and beyond) Anyways, super excited for Wandavision Kali! See you then!

Lorenzo Baxter

I like how you shake your head in disapproval every time a villain talks about doing evil things lol When you were talking about how much you liked Mysterio before the heel turn, it got me thinking. I think that traditionally, Mysterio has been kind of a wanker. Like a meme villain. But for this movie, they really upped his "evil threat" meter. He's angrier, more capable, more dangerous, and extremely insidious. His evil intentions are amplified by his betrayal; he makes you think he's a great guy, so it hurts all the more when you learn he's actually the opposite. So I wonder if this portrayal of him was inspired by unfortunate real life examples of celebrities being outed as terrible human beings who have done evil things. In the year 2025, I think that's happened to most people at least once. You're forced to confront a terrible truth that somebody you looked up to is actually a huge piece of shit, and the sting of that betrayal. It makes you wonder... if you were so good at ACTING like a good human being, why couldn't you have just been a good human being?

Dude Longcouch

Damn this movie had some amazing cgi in those mysterio illusion scenes. Hope you're looking forward to WandaVision Kali i for one loved it I still remember watching the new episodes every week in 2021 fresh after lockdown those were the days haha.

Seth

100%! This was my first movie with him, but I've seen him in a few other movie covers that have been recommended or talked about before. He did such a good job at seeming so charming at first, but then BAM. He's actually insane lol.

Kali Wali

I'm doing alright, thank you 💕 I hope you've been well this week too!

Kali Wali

Hope you are doing well!

The Dingo

"Spidey-Sense" is actually a comic book thing. :) Damn, I forgot to add that "Bitch Please, you've been to space" was totally improvised by Samual L. Jackson.

John A

Jacob Gyllenhaal did a phenomenal job in his role. His acting performances are top-notch!

Jonathan

Haha, I totally get that. I had no clue about Mysterio's comic history, so I was completely taken in by him at first. He was so charming and kind!? And yeah, the "Peter Tingle" cracked me up lol. I guess "spidey sense" is more of a Tobey Maquire thing? Also the Skrulls at the end!? Totally didn't see that coming and now it kind of makes sense that Fury seemed so.. flustered? I just chalked it up to him being completely mind blown and trying to recover after the Blip like everyone else. But nah, he was chilling in some VR beach vacation while the Skrulls handled everyday work for him back on Earth lol. I'm really looking forward to diving into the OG Spider-Man movies and seeing how they compare. It'll be fun to experience different takes on the character and his world. And thank you for the heads-up on WandaVision! I was wondering how I should pace it and was thinking two a week like my previous shows- so it's good to hear that it will work for this one! Thank you!

Kali Wali

Tom Holland really was the best choice for Spidey! He brings sooo much heart into the role. And you're definitely correct about secret identities in the MCU. Most of the big heroes never really had to hide who they were, but for Peter, it makes so much sense when he's just a high school kid trying to juggle it all. That's honesty what makes part of his whole journey so compelling, for sure! I can't wait to finally watch WandaVision, too! Elizabeth Olsen has done an incredible job so far as Wanda and the fact that she was the first to get a major award nomination for a Marvel project really speaks volumes to how incredible her performance must have been! I didn't know that 👀 And you know me and my theories haha. Can't wait to see what Wanda Vision is all about!

Kali Wali

I've heard it's great! I can't wait to finally watch it!

Kali Wali

That means a lot- Thank you so much for your kind words earlier today and now and for keeping my grandmother in your thoughts. It's been a tough time, I think that's why I'm a bit more quick to tears in this one than usual hehe. But sharing and connecting with people like you has really helped keep me feeling a bit more normal during these times. I really appreciate the patience and support more than I can say! I love your perspective on Phase 4 and 5. It stinks to know there is a huge shift in everyone's experience going forward, but I agree that a lot of the criticism most likely comes from high expectations coming out of this Saga. I mean, it was incredible all the way through! I'm up for seeing Marvel try new things. And while not everything lands for everyone, I'm excited to form my own opinions about it all and continue following these characters that I've grown to love so much. I might have to give Love and Thunder another shot but will most likely be doing so off-camera. I liked parts of it, but really struggled with the overall tone. But hearing your take on it has me really curious to revisit it. Thank you for everything :)

Kali Wali

I didn't look at it this way until you mentioned it, but yes! I see it now. And definitely- Having Favreau there at the bookends of this amazing Saga does feel right. ✨

Kali Wali

Omg yes. Such a great scene, but also really feeling Iron Man's loss there. 😭

Kali Wali

Sometimes, I'm jealous you get to go into these movies knowing nothing. I already knew that Mysterio was a villain in the comics but during the marketing of this film (trailers and breakdowns) people were still a little unsure if he was being a villain or not. I had a feeling he would be. When you said "I like this guy" all I could think, was I couldn't wait till the reveal to see the shock and confusion on your face. Also the "Peter Tingle" is "Spidey Sense". Some people hated they did that in this iteration of Spider Man. I found it funny. Overall, it was very entertaining movie and since I know that actor's work that played Mysterio from a lot of different movies, I really enjoyed him in the role. The Skrulls playing Fury and Hill threw me for a loop at the end of the movie though I must admit. When you get to the original Spider Man movies and also the Amazing Spider Man movies you will notice the differences from them and MCU Spider Man. I look forward to that when you decide to watch them. I don't know how you plan to do WandaVision, but the episodes aren't long and just so you know they released the 1st 2 on the same day. I'm here for whatever you decide but you might consider doing 2 at a time on one video. Just a thought. Obviously, you can ignore that idea lol.

John A

Aww man, I hope you feel better soon!

Kali Wali

LOL 🤣😂

Kali Wali

Glad you enjoyed this one! Tom Holland really nailed this role. It’s kind of funny how few of the MCU characters actually have “secret identities”, I mean everyone knew who Captain America and Iron Man and Black Widow etc were. Probably much more important to keep your identity secret when you’re still in high school! VERY excited for you to jump into WandaVision. As I’ve mentioned Elizabeth Olsen is my favorite actress and she was the first person ever nominated for a major acting award for a Marvel project for this show. Also looking forward to watching that big beautiful brain of yours trying to unravel the mystery!

Richard

i love to watch reactors watching wanda vision lol. Its quite an experience.

Phil Tilly

Surprised but happy to see this post, given what you're going through right now, Kali. Again, do take your time, and do what you need to do. Sending you good thoughts. As for Spidey, I will simply reiterate what I'm sure others have said before, that you will need to watch the 5 Sam Raimi and Marc Webb (perfect name there) Spider-Man films before No Way Home. As for heading into the post-Endgame, Phase 4/Phase 5 MCU, I must say it's an overall better experience than others say. The high bar of Phase 3 notwithstanding, I think it's just more different on balance than anything we've seen before, and I think there were some entries in Phases 4 and 5 that some didn't like not because they were bad, but because it wasn't what they expected. There were also some off-camera issues that made Marvel Studios have to readjust on the fly, so it can seem more scattered, but its new saga here is intentionally trying to cover a wider ground, and I think most of the installments in Phases 4 and 5 are good to strong, plus there are plenty of entries in it that are well-acknowledged successes/high points, such as WandaVision, Loki, Shang-Chi, No Way Home, Guardians 3, Moon Knight, Hawkeye and Black Panther 2 (for which Angela Bassett was deservedly nominated for an Oscar for her performance, I might add, and it was considered a bit of an upset that she didn't win). And I know you mentioned initially not liking Love and Thunder, but I might give it a second shot; if forced to choose, I know I'm in a minority, but I actually prefer Love and Thunder to Ragnarok (and I liked Ragnarok very much). I thought it was better at juggling the comedy vs. the drama/darkness. That's just me, but I bet I'm not alone. So them's my thoughts, but ultimately, right now, my thoughts are still with you and your family as you're going through this sad chapter. Your grandmother is in my thoughts, and thank you for telling us about her and what she meant to you. As always, take good care, and be well, Kali.

Andy Jordan

Sitting down to watch this reaction, and it’s going to be great. I have a tingle about it 🙃

David Olden

Eventhough Peter learns to live as himself, by far my favourite moment was Happy watching Peter design his new suit and by his expression how much it did remind him of Tony building his. Which is kind of a 4th Wall Moment - Happy never watched Tony build the Iron Man suit, but as Jon Favreau the director of the first Iron Man, he did. Favreau being at the bookends of the Infinity Saga just feels so right.

KJ Gould

When Peter broke down after knowing he can’t be the next iron man hurt

C. J. Ramirez

Omg perfect timing. Home with a cold and was wondering what to watch tonight ❤️
