The Falcon and the Winter Soldier | Episode 1: New World Order | Full Reaction

I've been very excited to get back to the current MCU timeline and this episode didn't sugarcoat any of it. The action in the opening had that classic MCU thrilling feel. It was awesome watching Falcon do what he does best, but beneath that something felt out of place. Seeing Sam wrestle with the legacy of Captain America's shield was intense. It's clear he respects the heck out of Steve. But he doesn't feel ready to stand in his shoes. And that tension felt super real.

Then we have Bucky. His loneliness, guilt, and attempts to make things right. The scene with Yori and realizing what was really happening hit like a ton of bricks. It made me realize that Bucky still carries so much heaviness with him. He has to deal with all of it, but where do you even start?

The introduction of the Flag Smashers was intriguing. I definitely want to know more about why they believe the Blip was better. A strange, yet complex idea that shows just how twisted and fractured the world is now.

I'm ready to see more after this deeply real first episode into Falcon and Bucky's lives. This is clearly going to be a series about legacy, identity, and navigating a world that doesn't always see your worth. And I'm very curious, yet a little heartbroken, to see where that story goes.

I love what you said about Bucky! There is something really poignant about the idea of him reconnecting with that original 1940's self. Like he is trying to reclaim a part of him that wasn't forged by pain. He 100% deserves this healing arc and I'm here for it! And yeah, the Flag Smashers.. I get that they were going for a morally gray area there, but I'm with you. The core problem isn't population; it's the systems that hoard and waste. It's honestly a really deep real-world parallel that almost hurts to look at. Especially when you think about how much good could be done with what we already have. Really looking forward to more of this show! I think I'm going to enjoy it.

Really looking forward to this series as you continue through it! I love off the bat how we get to see these characters, through the format of a TV series, with more time to breathe, and explore backstories. To really dive into their guilt, apprehensions and traumas. As someone who's very empathic like you, I really felt the weight of those right away in this episode. Grounded. That's definitely the perfect way to describe this start, and I really love the series for that. And for showing that the blip had so many consequences even beyond what we initially thought. And like you said, instead of brushing those away, it faces them head on And yeah, crazy weather yesterday! Had a very small tornado touch down while I was at work, and all the group chats were blowing up with "Tornado! Tornado!". Glad it wasn't anything worse for you! And now with that system passed, it seems like the craziest heat wave is coming LOL

"clap clap clap" Awesome job Kali. Your intro really set the stage well in summarizing what had happened, where we are now, and specifically where these characters are. One of the challenges in bringing movie characters to the TV screen is: will the new writers/directors be able to convincingly portray them as we knew them in the films? It would be ruined if they came across as different people, even in subtle ways. I thought they did a really good job with that aspect. The best outcome for Bucky in my view would be he somehow kinda gets back his 1940s persona, just with the added super soldier serum and the "lived in" face showing the emotional burden he carries. I strongly disagree with the Flag Smashers' whole premise. The problem on this particular planet is not a shortage of resources but the total corruption, greed, and mismanagement on how they are shared and distributed. Just the amount of food that is thrown away in one day in the U.S. is horrifying. Killing 50% of the population does nothing to solve that. Looking forward to seeing the rest of this with you. I'll do my best to be patient as you work through the TV series, Shang-Chi, Eternals, etc on your way to Wanda's next adventure in Doctor Strange 2 lol. Seeing things through your perspective always gives me new angles and insights to chew on so it's all great.
