This movie had a darker, more chaotic energy to it compared to the first! The dinosaurs felt less like marvels of science and more like ticking time bombs ready to go off at any minute. I guess as a viewer, we also carry that same PTSD that Dr. Chaos had throughout this entire film. I wanted to reach through the screen and shake everyone and yell "TURN BACK. Don't go to the island, again!?" lol

Ludlow was an immediate slimy antagonist. I felt a mix of frustration and dread every time he spoke. He just doesn't get it or see anything other than dollar signs. At least his father had a vision. A dream. Ludlow just sees profit.

And after looking back at Roland. I connected with him much more than I thought I would. Despite being a hunter, he wasn't driven by cruelty. Not really. And his final line about losing the taste for hunting after losing his friend was deeper than I first realized. He was the one person on Ludlow's entire team that actually seemed to see the dinosaurs for what they truly are: wild, majestic, and never meant to be caged.

The first half of this movie was intense, suspenseful, and serious. But once the freighter crashed into San Diego harbor, and the Trex was left to just casually stroll into the suburbs like it was on a coffee run, I lost it hahaha. It almost felt like a satire of itself, and I absolutely loved it for that! It was chaotic, ridiculous and completely broke away from the tone of the rest of the movie. It felt almost like Spielberg just said, "You know what? Let's go full Godzilla for a bit." And honestly? I respect that.

Overall, I loved this film for what it was. A branch into the next one! It raised so many important questions about the future of Jurassic Park and the dinosaurs that have been allowed to roam free for the past 4 years without any intervention. None of these questions were cleaned up with easy answers. And that makes me wonder what happens next??? See you all there!
