What a start to the season! There was absolutely no time to breathe or ease back in. Just pure chaos, fear, and grief from the first frame until the last. Tigh stepping up brought such a weird tension. I immediately wanted that familiar comfort of Adama back on the screen. But he is clearly not Adama, and he knows that, but he's trying his best. I felt myself judging him one moment and feeling for him the next..
With everyone stranded on Kobol while Adama fights for his life on the ship, it gave this episode a split tension. Two storylines about survival. I could feel the desperation in both places at once and it made everything feel even more fragile.
There is already a sinking feeling after this episode. That things are never going to go back to the way they were in Season 1. This first episode set such a deeper, darker, and brutally raw tone that I wasn't quite expecting. But I'm here for it! See you all in episode 2!
