The Falcon and the Winter Soldier | Episode 4: The Whole World Is Watching | Full Reaction

This episode was honestly hard to watch at times, but in a good way. It was intense emotionally, morally, and even visually. And the ending left me absolutely stunned. Seeing the shield used that way... and stained that way. I hope Steve isn't watching the news today...

Walker's descent has been building for some time now. Slowly, barely noticeable. But this moment it fully snapped. Watching him justify violence in the name of justice was absolutely disgusting. And yet tragically believable. He's trying to live up to something he was never fully prepared or ready for.

And Sam's empathy during all of this has surprised me. His conversation with Karli was such a real moment. She's not wrong about the problems, but her methods are dark. And Bucky.. You can still feel how fragile his recovery is, but he's fighting with everything he has to stay grounded as everything around him spirals. And I admire the heck out of him for that.

This episode asked some huge questions. About power, legacy, justice, and who gets to decide what is right. I can't wait to finish out the series with you all next week. This show has been incredibly deep.

One of my favorite emotional parts of this show was the flashback where Bucky gained some sense of relief knowing he was finally free from HYDRA’s Winter Soldier programming. I give mad props to Sebastian Stan for his performance. I legit wanted to cry with him. I also have mad respect for Sam having a reasonable conversation with Karli. He’s one of those people who learns as he goes along. Perspective is definitely of his key qualities. He may not always have the answers, but he does listen. That’s clearly a huge contrast from what John was doing. He thinks Bucky has it easy with the serum, but Bucky himself never wanted that either. At least Lemar was being more reasonable. Also, while Sam would prefer to avoid conflict he’s also not scared to fight John if needed. Zemo has an extreme way of thinking, but we can agree that the serum is dangerous especially when whoever has it also has a dark mindset. Like Dr. Erskine said, good becomes great while bad becomes worse. They tested John’s speed, endurance, and IQ, but they forgot about his heart. That’s what Dr. Erskine banked on when he picked Steve.

I for one was pretty sad about Lemar dying he was a good guy. He was clearly right about the "power makes a person more of themselves" part as we John is a good guy he mentions how the medals of honour aren't worth it because he had to kill for it but the serum amplified his anger and he ended up killing that terrorist when he wasn't the one that killed Lemar just out of anger. It's just a pretty sad situation to see John spiral like this I have been a John defender/fan since this show came out but he definitely messed up Sam's conversation with Karli like you mentioned it could've gone differently and there was a chance she would've stopped. I guess the years of PTSD and Lemar dying was it for John all of it built up and the serum just made it way worse. This episode is probably my favourite of the season because of how much happened. See you next week for the next 2 episodes!!

The shield covered in blood is one of those chilling images that really sticks with you. I think you are really hitting on what makes this show interesting. I think the show honors Steve, who obviously would never. But it also shows that being Captain America is not just the person who holds the shield, but being the person that always tries to do what it is right, both when it is easy to see what is right and when it is not. Glad you are covering both episode 5 and 6 next week. Note, both episodes have important post-credit scenes.
