The Falcon and the Winter Soldier | Episode 6: One World, One People | Full Reaction

Sam becoming Captain America on his terms was UP THERE with powerful moments I've seen in the MCU. Not just because of the suit and shield (although🔥) but because of his speech. He held up a mirror to power and challenged everyone to be better. Lead with empathy. See and feel the people they represent.

Even John Walker's arc, messy and insane as it was, said something about ego and entitlement and what happens when we chase after symbols without really understanding. I still don't trust him, but I get why he is the way he is.

The Flag Smashers' storyline was a bit all over the place for me, honestly. But I felt Karli's pain and fire. They made the entire story what it really was- One World, One People. Flawed, brave, broken and healing people. It asked all of the hard questions and didn't try to wrap them up in neat little bows. They exposed it for what it is. And that's what made this entire series so beautiful.

See you all in SPIDER-MAN films next as I take a break from the MCU timeline for a bit! Thank you everyone for joining me in this adventure so far!! Y'all are truly amazing and I hope you stick around for more on this detour! 💛

Great idea watching all the spiderman movies before you continue the MCU journey. I know there are a lot of TV shows in the multiversal phase of the MCU. Disney asked Kevin Feige to make a lot of streaming content for Disney+. As a result, many people experienced fatigue because they had to watch a lot of TV shows and movies to keep up. I heard Kevin Feige is going to cool it on the TV shows for the Mutant phase of the MCU. Also, there were a lot of people that did not like the female superheroes. Personally, I enjoyed She Hulk, Ms. Marvel and Echo quite a bit. I think you will as well.

This may be a bit late, but I think you may have misunderstood the timeline of the serum a bit. The serum was first invented by Dr. Erskin in Germany when he first unintentionally created Red Skull. It was then used for the second time on Steve Rodgers, but due to Erskin's assassination and the loss of the last serum vial, the formula was lost, and they spent the next couple decades trying to recreate the formula using Steve's blood they took from him before his sacrifice in WW2. Then after Steve was lost, the SSR became Shield, and Hydra formed inside it. This is when scientists like Dr. Zola would have been recruited, and this was also about the time that the Korean War was beginning and when Isaiah Bradley and his fellow Black troops were being experimented on with versions of the serum derived from Cap's blood, though "tetanus shots." Finally, of course, the serum worked again with Isaiah Bradley, but the US government, or Hydra, or honestly both, ended up locking Isaiah Bradley up in prison for, if you remember, the same thing Steve did in the 40s: disobeying orders to save prisoners behind enemy lines. And finally, of course, there in prison, he was experimented on for another 30 years. So all in all, Steve really couldn't have done anything about Isaiah Bradley, but America did use his blood to experiment on him, so it is his legacy too by virtue of blood or by the flag he carries on his chest.

Anthony Mackie practiced his speech over the phone for hours with the show’s creator and head writer Malcolm Spellman. They wanted to make sure it was properly executed on scene. This leads up to Anthony Mackie having his own Captain America movie called Brave New World. It was previously titled New World Order. It was recently added to Disney Plus, but you still got a ways to go. I won’t specify how, but this show is also connected to Thunderbolts which recently made it to digital. Again you’re not quite there yet, but despite the recent strikes heavily delaying production it turned out to be a great film too. But the time you’re caught up you’ll find it on Disney Plus as well. In the meantime this is pretty much a given, but Ayo and the Dora Milaje will return in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Great reaction, as usual, Kali! (I almost typed "Karli" just then, and then did a double take when realizing that your name is only one letter off! 🤔) And, as usual, I needed some tissues at the end. My dad and my cousin always cried so easily that they joked about being hired out as funeral mourners, and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree... 😭

You know, I really wish that people would talk about this show a lot more than the other shows. And this is not to speak ill of the other shows, but I connected with this one a lot more than most of them. Since Captain America was my favorite Avenger, I have always been more invested into his part of the universe, and seeing Sam and Bucky grow in the way that they have has been the best thing. Dealing with their issues with their own lives and even with each other has been so awesome. I feel like everything in this series has stayed true to each of these characters, and the conversation of racism and government cover-ups has been right on point. It does feel weird watching people react to the show because when I first saw it, I understood immediately why Sam gave up the shield. Before the show gave me the context, I could feel where it was going. Which is why the Isaiah Bradley conversation/standpoint stuck with me a lot. This series also helped me realize something that I would have never really thought about. I don't think I personally would have been able to take up the shield and probably would have done the same thing in Sam's shoes, but the thing that Sam came to realize that helped me was about the irony of his right to fight. When he said that we built this country and he had a right to fight for it because of that (pain and sacrifice), it really changed the way that I looked at all of this. Because of history, I do feel a way towards America and the way that my people are treated, and I always thought that if I were to fight it would strictly be for my people and not for the country itself. The series helped me realize that that does not have to be true. I can fight for both. The last point I would like to bring up is about Walker himself. This one is a weird one because of my personal feelings with Walker. I have seen the actor in prior things to this role, which has made me really appreciate him, and honestly, I love his father ,Kurt Russell (who plays Starlord's biological father, Ego in Guardians2). With that being said, I am fully aware that Walker is definitely an unhinged character, but I was able to see his willingness to try to be the best that he could be. He started off his humble as he could, but the ego was too much. I felt like the series itself was panning too much to his comic book character, which is more ass to the villain role when they wanted to play him up as an anti-hero. I couldn't take the villainous parts as serious because of the editing. It just felt like they were trying to hammer down the point, "Hey, this guy is DARK." That didn't quite work for me, so I was glad for him to have turned heel in the last episode. You could see from the beginning that he had some good in him. I also loved the fight in episode 5, leading into him working with them in the last episode because I feel that it is the perfect portrayal of how males work. Guys can literally get into a physical fight with each other and somehow become friends after the fact. It's like a weird dynamic that has yet to be addressed when it comes to male friendships. And this is not to say that Bucky and John are now friends. But that heel turn just doesn't feel as weird the more I think about it when I compare it to my real-life friendships. Wow, this is long, lol. Either way, thank you so much, Kali, for another great series reaction!!!🙏🏾🙏🏾 I am excited for the Spider-Man moviesssss!!!! The Sam Raimi trilogy is the BEST, haha!!! Hope you have a wonderful night! I will see you in the next one
