I absolutely LOVED these films. The scope of what I saw feels so massive, heavy, and strangely intimidating all at the same time. This 'part two' was such a huge shift into something darker and far more tragic than I expected.
I left feeling very unsettled by the path Paul chose. Watching his arc from a hesitant outsider to a commanding, almost godlike figure was intense. Thrilling, but terrifying. The moment that he chose to fully embrace the prophecy, I felt like a wave hit me. It didn't feel victorious. Just... inevitable.
Chani turned into the heart and soul of the film for me. Her heartbreak and grounding presence added so much humanity to the film. Her final scene with Paul left me shattered. It felt like a betrayal of love for the sake of destiny.
And that's what I'm left questioning: the cost of destiny. There were no heroes here. Just people trying to survive inside of myths that are much larger than them.
Now I need to know... Will there be a Dune: Part Three!?! Thank all for joining me in these adventures. I won't be forgetting it anytime soon and this soundtrack will be my mantra for a bit!
