Alien (1979 | Theatrical Cut) | Full Reaction

I went into this fully bracing for the worst. Pretty sure you can literally hear and feel the terror in my voice during my intro hahaha. But I actually ended up coming out of it with a whole new perspective and appreciation for sci-fi horror! The way the movie used sound, atmosphere, and those wide, unsettling visuals without actually really showing too much.. It kept me on the edge of my seat in a really fun, suspenseful way.

I'm not going to lie. I was lowkey mad at you all for letting this win the closely tied poll 🀣 But now I'm thankful to you guys for holding my hand and forcing me to get this film under my belt. I actually really enjoyed it! And the best part? No nightmares like The Last of Us did to me lol. So I think I'm getting better with the horror genre! Or at least this kind for now. We'll see if that holds up this spooky season πŸ‘€

wow YOU did it! I'm one of the "senior" Patreon members here who had the absolute blessing of sitting in a darkened theater with my pops the week it was released. Can you imagine, being 12 years old, at their first "R" rated movie to have this thrown at you. The thing you have to remember about that era, is that movie hype was almost non existent. Info about upcoming movies was a scarce thing. As far as I knew, this was gonna build on that other little space movie called Star Wars , that came out a year and a half earlier. What I got was still to this day the scariest movie I have ever seen. So pat yourself on the back, its no small feat. You should LOVE Aliens, can't wait for that reaction!

The company sent the Synthetic. My mom took me to see this movie. I was very young & remember a few things. Even at the age I was. When you finished watching these films. Check out the new show Akien: Earth. The show takes place 2 years before this movie.

Yes! I'd love to watch Aliens next! And I hear a lot of people mentioning the extended edition, so I'll do that as well ✨

I loooove that you named your cat after Jonesy! I just got a tuxedo cat this year and we named him Remy. Someone on an instagram post of him mentioned that tuxedo cats are just orange tabby's in a suit and I feel like that is a VERY accurate description haha

Great Reaction! Hopefully you can watch the sequel "Aliens" sometime soon, its a great film. If possible would you consider watching the extended edition of that film?

Mikey

When i was a kid my family loved this movie so much (and the sequel ALIENS even more) we named our first cat Jonesy. Our Jonesy was a tuxedo cat but he was also a survivor and adventurer!

Ok so there is a directors cut. Where we learn what happened to the guy that went after the cat and the captain of the ship. But I'm not sure if we should tell you or not. Just in case you might ever want to go back and watch the directors cut a year or two from now. Could it be considered a spoiler? Although I'm sure someone on the youtubes will probably say it anyway. :)

I’ve seen this film so many times, it and its sequel are my all time favorites. Also when it had its 45 year anniversary in theaters, I had to see it, one of the best experiences ever.

Kali this was amazing. As a millennial who came to the Alien franchise after seeing a lot of other sci-fi, I feel like this is the closest I’ve gotten to experiencing what a theater-goer in 1979 experienced. You’re the GOAT!

Ah yes, the movie where nobody listens to the only competent person on the ship, so they all die and she and her cat are the lone survivors. 10/10 So Kali, now that you've seen Alien, here's a crazy fun fact for you. In the Alien universe, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation is the name of the company that owns the Nostromo, the ship in this movie. But they also appeared in another franchise you know - the pilot episode of Firefly. Their logo is clearly visible in the first scene of the first episode - you can see it on the targeting overlay on the stationary gun that Mal uses to shoot down the ship in the Battle of Serenity Valley. This was a fun little easter egg that Joss Whedon included, because he co-wrote the script for 1997's Alien: Resurrection. So technically, Firefly and Alien take place in the same universe, if you go in for that sort of thing :p

You have now been introduced to the "Face Hugger", "Chest Burster", and "Xenomorph" versions of the alien, which is what they are typically called. The Xenomorph is the full size alien, and "morph" is referring to the fact that the creature takes on some features of the host that it gestates in, which is why it's sort of the size and shape of a man. If the creature gestated in a different type of host, it would come out looking very different. There's are 3 sequels, 3 prequels, and 2 crossover movies with the Predator franchise, making a total of 9 Alien movies, along with a prequel TV show that's in production. The original "Alien" and "Aliens" sequel are worth reacting to, the others can be skipped. The movies in timeline order: 1 - Prometheus (2012) 2 - Alien: Covenant (2017) 3 - Alien: Earth - TV Series (2025) 4 - Alien (1979) 5 - Alien: Romulus (2024) 6 - Aliens (1986) 7 - Alien 3 (1992) 8 - Alien Resurrection (1997) 9 - Alien vs. Predator (2004) 10 - Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)
