Aliens (1986- Theatrical Version) | Full Reaction

I have to tell you all, I was not expecting to be this eager to dive back into the Alien sequel this soon after the first one! I guess that says everything you need to know about how much I've surprisingly enjoyed these films 😅

Aliens had a completely different energy compared to the slow horror and suffocating nightmare fuel of Alien. This one just blew the doors open with action, atmosphere, and a whole squad of characters that I found myself actually getting a bit attached to. I loved how each Marine had their own quirky traits, but that also made it much harder to watch when they were thrown into absolute terror.

And Ripley! She continues to be such an absolute powerhouse. Watching her arc go from ptsd riddled survivor to fearless protector was incredibly satisfying! During those final scenes I was practically vibrating!

I love how this sequel still manages to honor the original while worldbuilding and raising the stakes to massive levels. I really enjoyed it just as much as Alien! Thank you all for joining me (and sorry about your ears, again... 🤣🔥)

Thank you so much for your support here even after already watching my journey through Star Wars and the Alien franchise! It makes me really happy to be called a 'top 5 favorite' on YouTube especially since I still feel very new in this space haha I'll definitely be checking out more Alien films in the future! I really surprised myself with enjoying these two films haha. And omg poor Newt in this one! 🙀 I looooved when Ripley went straight up mama bear on the queen hahaha

So i did come here to support you more and watch this ahead of time and it was so worth it! You are officially one of my top 5 reactors on YouTube now. Getting to this point in your reaction adventure truly made me wanted to support you after your Star Wars reactions. So I don't know if anyone has told you, so I'm gonna tell you now, you might as go through the other Alien franchises, in reaction time or your own time but I leave it up to you. Another thing is one other Creature franchise that you have to react to and that is Predator! ( please please please...no spoilers cause it will lead up to a certain event that's all I will say)....Anyways I'm enjoying your journey...keep up the great work and I'll ttys! PS. I felt your motherly instincts in this movie trust me. <3

This is a breath of fresh air after feeling like I royally screwed up my first reaction to this haha. But I really enjoyed it a lot! Glad it's not all bad that I chose the 'wrong' version for the first watch :)

Kali Wali

Alright! I signed up especially to watch along with the theatrical cut because most reactors skip to the special edition and don't experience the movie the way audiences did first time My definitive edition would contain elements of both versions but for a first watch I prefer this streamlined edit

LOL I've never watched South Park 😅

Kali Wali

There's a Southpark episode where Cartman quotes Newt saying "They mostly come at night, mostly" lol

Never knew that about Carrie Henn, that's very interesting. Good for her. Reminds me of the woman who played Casey's mom in the movie "Scream." It's a much smaller role, obviously, but it's the only credit she has on IMDB. She showed up and delivered one of the most iconic horror movie screams of all time, then just dipped. Legendary.

Fantastic reaction to one of the best sequel's of all time, Kali! Other commenters have already expanded on many plot points and upon the differences between the theatrical and extended editions, so I'll try to be *reasonably* brief... for me, that is. So, Kali, you bought into the "androids are always evil" dogma, eh? 😉 When Bishop volunteered to go outside and manually align the antenna, the look of confusion on your face was priceless! The writers obviously set up the trope perfectly and then shocked us by showing Bishop to be as heroic and self-sacrificing as any human. Bishop described his programmed ethics as follows: "It is impossible for me to harm, or by omission of action, allow to be harmed, a human being." Those of us who are science fiction nerds recognize that line as a paraphrase of the first of Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics: "A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm." Asimov was one of the most prolific authors of the 20th century, in almost all genres, and his Robot series of short stories and novels are among my favorites in all of science fiction. A few other commenters have already stated an opinion with which I thoroughly agree: Carter Burke is one of the slimiest villains in the history of cinema! You obviously agree, Kali. Once it's clear that Burke let the face-huggers loose with Ripley and Newt, you're response was, "Okay, it's time to throw him out the airlock!" (Gee, do ya think that Battlestar Galatica has shaped your reaction to bad guys? ) A few minutes later, Hudson says, "I say we grease this rat-@#$% son of a #$%^@ right now!" Double thumbs up from Kali! 👍🏻👍🏻 Once Newt was separated from Ripley, I began to worry for you! I knew it was about to get very real for poor mama Kali! 😦 You actually brought tears to my eyes when you said, "I would do the same thing for my daughter." 🥹 I have absolutely zero doubt that that is the case! And as Ripley geared up for her mission, you finally gave us the line we had been waiting the whole movie for: "Let's go, Ripley!" 😁 FYI, when the queen disconnects her disgustingly gigantic ovipositor and starts to chase Ripley, I always hear Ian Malcom's voice: "Mommy's very angry!" 🦖 When I think of quotable movies, my mind immediately goes to comedies like Airplane! or Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This film, however, is one of *the* most quotable action flicks! * Ripley: "Did IQs just drop sharply while I was away?" * Hudson: "Hey, Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?" Vasquez: "No. Have you?" * Hudson: "Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen." * Gorman: "Look, we can't have any firing in there. [...]" Frost: "What the hell are we supposed to use, man, harsh language?" * Burke: "This installation has a substantial dollar value attached to it." Riply: "They can *bill* me!" * Hudson: "Maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked, pal!" * Hudson: "Game over, man! Game over!" * Hudson: "Seventeen days? Hey, man, I don't wanna rain on your parade, but we're not gonna last seventeen hours!" * Newt: "Ripley, she doesn't have bad dreams because she's just a piece of plastic." * Burke: "Ripley, you know, I expected more from you. I thought you'd be smarter than this." Ripley: "Well, I'm happy to disappoint you." * Bishop: "I may be synthetic, but I'm not stupid." * Ripley: "I can handle myself." Hicks: "Yeah, I noticed..." * Ripley: "You know, Burke, I don't know which species is worse. You don't see them ****ing each over for a ******* percentage!" * And, of course, the piece de resistance: "Get away from her, you bitch!" Oh, the emotional payoff! I *literally* was pumping my fists in the air, even though I've seen this film at least a dozen times! Also, no one has mentioned Carrie Henn, the young actor who played Newt so brilliantly. She had no acting experience prior to Aliens, and she chose not to pursue it as a career after making the film. One of the best one-off performances in cinema history! BTW, I have to admit that my twisted mind enjoyed watching you start to giggle and relax after the false ending... 😈 But I'm also glad you noticed that Newt called her "Mommy!" at the end. 🥹 Great job as always, Kali! I'm *so* glad you were able to enjoy these two icons of the genre. Now you can watch all of the sequels, although I personally would skip Aliens 3 (1992) and Alien Resurrection (1997). Then you can watch Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Predator franchise. And *then* you'll be prepared to watch the Aliens versus Predator films! (Yes, really!) So much scary and/or action-packed sci-fi in your future! 😉
