This movie was incredible! Up until now, my only 'courtroom drama experience' was binge-watching random Judge Judy clips on YouTube back in college. So, diving into A Few Good Men felt like a whole new world to me. I think I might actually be hooked on courtroom dramas now lol
The characters were all so layered. Watching Kaffee grow from a cocky young lawyer who treated everything like a game into someone willing to face the toughest questions head-on was so satisfying. And then there's Col. Jessup. Jack Nicholson felt like this force of nature that left hurricanes in his wake. Every scene felt like a storm gathering strength, and when it all finally broke and the truth came crashing out, it was actually electric!
This story makes you wrestle with questions about loyalty, truth, and the line between following orders and doing what's right. And even though it's set in the military, those questions started to feel universally human. Feeling the weight of justice crash down like that left me feeling like I'd just ridden an emotional ethical rollercoaster.
I'll take your courtroom drama recommendations now, please and thank you! π

π I watched this on YouTube TV and I didn't realize there would be small moments where the screen goes blank for 'Ad Breaks' sigh lol. Unfortunately by the time I started watching, it was too late to turn back since this is a 'blind reaction'. I won't use YouTube TV in the future and learned my lesson! For all their talk of honour, not one of those Gitmo Marines seems to have any - it's honestly more like they're in a cult. I'm not an American, but as I understand from what I've read about US military code, both officers and enlisted personnel are *required* to refuse to follow illegal orders - so everyone who followed Colonel Jessop's order all the way down the chain of command was committing a crime. Seems pretty clear that a large proportion (if not all) of the entire unit deserves to be dishonourably discharged, if not thrown in jail
