I quite liked it. I once wrote a story trying to capture my ideabout it as well. Not so much sentient fat as much as sentient digestion. I went a similar way where awareness was dim, and distinct at first, and dreamlike. But as time goes on the awareness grows sharper but the sense of identity starts to break down. I quite like the insideous nature of that.
