RJ Ramblings

Hey everybody.

I'm writing this a little early, on my phone in a hotel room, because I don't know if I'm going to have time to write it tomorrow.

Earlier today, an electric fire started in my attic. The breaker tripped and everything shut off. Then when I turned the breaker back on, there was a buzzing noise and the smell of ozone. I turned it back off quick, but shortly after I smelled smoke and went outside and saw smoke coming from the top of the house.

We got everybody outside, and got the dogs and the turtle outside, then I grabbed my pc as well, just in case.

The firefighters showed up pretty fast and they were able to put the fire out with minimal damage. They had to tear down the ceiling in my living room, which is a big mess now. Since the electricity can't be turned back on, and it's summer in Texas, we can't sleep at the house right now either.

We're meeting an electrician at the house in the morning to see what needs to be done. I have no idea how long it's going to take before we're able to live in the house again. I'm hoping just a day or two, but I really don't know.

I dont believe any of my belongings were damaged and me, my partner, my roommate, and all our pets are okay. It could have definitely been a lot worse.

But I won't be able to do anything game-related until we get the wiring fixed and I can go back home.

I am hoping this won't impact the release of Update 12, but it could. We have been testing pretty hard and the update is looking good, but I need to be able to use my computer to actually make the changes, and at the moment I can't. Hopefully just a day or two and I'll be able to go back home and it won't delay anything. If not, I may hook my computer up in the hotel room, or we may go stay with my partners family for a while.

I don't know what I had scheduled as far as bonus images or custom images for this week (my schedule is all on my computer), but all of that will likely have to be postponed.

I know you all will be understanding about this. It was pretty traumatizing. The house catching fire is one of my biggest fears - I was just talking about that to some of my friends last week - and it happened today. We're very fortunate that we were home, and that we were awake, and that I noticed the smoke very quickly, and that the firemen got there fast. It could have been so, so much worse.
