2024-04-04 15:04:10 +0000 UTCIt’s ok. And yes 100% BTS are the best at singing Live. And it’s so true, they cannot sing live every line and dance like they do. So it’s normal to stop at some points and do the dance move. Or like in “Set me free” in the recorded version he has that autotune on his voice to make it sound in a specific way. It makes sense to let the track sing that part as he live cannot do that sound. So it’s for art purposes too. Stray Kids also sing live and stop at certain parts and let the track sing so they can do the dancing, or it’s changed by autotune…and they are also heavily criticised for it. So i totally understand. But i need to be honest that BTS live skills are amazing! 💜

2024-03-21 07:31:02 +0000 UTCYou mentioned the lift as his signature move. He's only done it in "Lie" and "Set Me Free Pt 2," and both those songs have a similar theme of breaking out, seeking freedom and release. There are some other dance steps that Jimin carried from "Lie" to "SMFP2" as well, perhaps to reinforce the similar themes? To me though, "Lie" portrays him at a point of desperation, whereas "SMFP2" portrays him at a point of determination. He's matured between the two songs, and while he's still seeking to find his own way, the despair of his youth has been replaced with assuredness. Instead of begging for release, he knows he will find it, and that it will come from himself.

2024-03-21 06:12:05 +0000 UTCThis song is a masterpiece if you think about it. It's about his internal struggles with himself and how he felt in past. He said he shared it with their producers and together they made this song portraying his feelings, he even wrote most of the lyrics according to RM and is a composer on the track. I love the classical arrangment in the beginning and the spanish guitar that repeats cyclically like he's trapped in the lie. Even the music itself is a lie because it's in a minor chord the whole time, except in the chorus where it suddenly turns into a major chord when he sings "caught in a lie". It's a tequnique called textpainting and is constructed to make the lie seem as something positive and rattle the listener. And in the dance and his singing you can feel the desperation while trying to escape this lie. You can see him reaching up to sky multiple times as if pleading with a higher power to save him and he collapses a couple of times as if he can't bear the weight anymore. I love how he is able to express his feelings so well that the audience can feel it with him (JK even said that JImin is the best at dancing when it comes to selfexpression).

2024-03-20 15:00:08 +0000 UTCAbout his singing while dancing: You can notice at which parts he isn't singing in this because we just hear the backing track which is quieter than his mic and it's necessary because some of his movements (like his little jumps) aren't possible to do while maintaining a stable voice. What I like about BTS is that they never lipsync, they just let the backing track play and don't even pretend they're singing by not moving their lips because there are parts in songs that are impossible to sing live while doing their choreography. Except earlier at specific music shows, where artist are forced by the broadcasting stations to lipsync because the broadcasters want a perfect sound (and they don't even do that anymore because broadcasters just let them do what they want nowadays; there was even a staff that said when BTS comes on it's always stressful and so much work for the sound guys because they have to coordinate the live singing). But you will notice it in those situations because the audio is noticably perfect, without the normal imperfections you can hear in life singing (and I don't mean breathing sounds because those get prerecorded by the broadcast station as well). BTS is also notoriously bad at it, especially RM an V, to the point that we have a joke in the fandom that the only thing BTS is bad at is lipsyncing. In Kpop it's incredibly common for idols to never sing live or do it rarely, there are often even leaks around award show season, where staff leaks the soundplans for the groups and it was only BTS and Mamamoo that were singing live, all others were lipsyncing. (sorry for reposting and no paragraphs I struggle with patreon)

2024-03-20 14:50:11 +0000 UTCI hate it to be honest…like why do they use autotune, why do they lip sync some parts….Do they even understand what work goes into a performance? They surely do not. If they did, they would shut up. They are just amazing. 💜

2024-03-20 13:32:59 +0000 UTCAuto tune is just another tool to shape sound, much like guitar pedals. It’s here and not going anywhere so people need to really stop with looking down on it when it’s used for creative purposes. Anyway, rant out of the way, Jimin is an amazing performer. He leaves it all on stage.
