Join us for Narrative Telephone!

Hello friends!

I’m excited to announce our next Patreon event: Ginny Di Narrative Telephone! Special thanks to LivSmyth on Discord for the suggestion.

If you are unfamiliar with the concept, this project is inspired by Critical Role’s socially distant show. One person begins by telling a short story. They then send their video to the next participant, who is only allowed to watch it once. The second person then retells the story to the best of their ability, and sends their video to the next person... and so on until everyone has told their version.

How will it work?

For our version, I will be filling the role of the storyteller by telling stories about the NPCs you already know and love! I’ll record the initial story and send it to Sarah/MiskatonicEmber. Sarah will then schedule a video call with the next person on the list and play the story for them — ONLY ONCE. Then, she will record the participant telling their version. That new version will be played for the second person in line and so on! (We’ll be doing this through video calls to ensure that we get all the responses in a timely manner — since unlike the cast of Critical Role, this isn’t your job!)

The final results of the story will be revealed on a livestream!

Depending on the number of participants, the plan is to record multiple short stories and run multiple telephone groups! If we have more sign ups than we can reasonably accommodate, participants will be selected randomly. Anyone not initially selected will be placed on a waitlist in case someone needs to drop out (plus, we might do more of these in the future, and we’ll give priority to anyone who wasn’t picked for the first one.)

To participate, you will need:

• A webcam and microphone or a phone with a decent camera and microphone for recording
• A quiet place to record without too much background noise or chaos
• A relatively decent internet connection to record over Zoom or similar

By participating, you’re agreeing that it’s okay to record you and share your image with other patrons. I may also use small parts of these videos on public social media to promote the cool things our community does! You’re also agreeing to make your best effort to coordinate a time with Sarah to record your part on a reasonable timeline. I know life can get hectic, but with this many people involved, it’s important that everyone be as available as possible!

Approximate filming deadline: April 25

We’ll be debuting the final product towards the end of April in a livestream (and of course you’ll be able to watch the VOD if you can’t make it live!)
