Second shoot day: Check!

We just got home from our second of three filming days for "The Wave-Soaked Maiden" music video! This one was mostly narrative-driven, basically just a cinematic version of the story that we're telling in the song.

Josh gamely took on the leading role in this part, playing the foolhardy sailor who fails to keep his promise to the mermaid. (And oh my god, he's so handsome, what the fuck!!!!!) My fishy friends Leah and Morgan played the mermaid's sisters, and at one point even towed Josh's little boat into position for a drone shot!! We also had help from Sam and my parents, and of course Nate of SHIELDS Productions shot the unbelievably soft and beautiful footage. Someone hire this man to shoot a period drama, I swear to god.

We were filming at a nearby reservoir and knew that, since it was a Saturday, it would be full of families boating, fishing, and swimming just as soon as we hit reasonable hours, so we started filming at 6am to make sure we had plenty of time with a relatively empty lake. (We did bemuse a few kayakers, though.) I didn't love the 4:15am alarm clock, but holy shit, that sunrise was worth it.

It was cold as absolute balls in the water and I shivered for about thirty minutes straight after getting out of the water, but I'm reviewing the footage now and I have NO REGRETS! We have our final filming day tomorrow, a rowdy tavern scene with a bunch of extras, and then I'll have two days to finish the edit before the album launches on Wednesday. Wish me luck!!
