I wrote a song about a random D&D monster

I originally filmed this with the goal of releasing it a solid month ago but it took until now to actually finish editing it!

Anyway, this one is a bit of an experiment — I'm always trying to find new ways to promote music on YouTube without having to make an entire music video, since I don't always have the time and resources to do that, which ends up creating these huge gaps between my music releases... even though recording and releasing music really doesn't take that long! It's really just promoting it that ends up swallowing so much time.

People also sometimes ask me about my songwriting process, so this offers a pretty direct look! The vast majority of my original music is written collaboratively with Blake in this way. We just sit on the couch with a guitar and a laptop and mumble at each other until something sounds right.

Heart of Ice is on Spotify here!

I know Blake used "he/him" pronouns to refer to the perspective character while writing it (and I believe I responded in kind once he did), but I am a woman singing a romantic song about a woman, so I think it is perfectly valid to consider it a canon WLW song! I can tell you that it was intentional in my mind to use she/her pronouns for the Frost Giant, although I didn't think the gender of the singer was important enough to the song content to discuss it explicitly with Blake while we were writing. I think it's neat that any listener can gender the perspective character however they like (similar to my Ruby of the Sea song, for example) so we can all feel validated in wanting a colossal woman to love us 😂

I adore that even the dice gods enjoyed "He Sees Roght Through Me".

Fantastic! I love seeing the collaboration. Funny on the too-close oozes.
