Winter Bryndis

It's been snowing allll day here in Denver, and we might not get another big snowfall this year — so I figured it was a great time to do a last-minute photoshoot!

I've been putting the finishing touches on the "Solstice Vale" PDF, which is all about Bryndis' home kingdom of Tirianor, located in the mountains. So she seemed like the right character to place in a snowy landscape! (Plus red hair always looks so good in a snowy setting!)

As you can see, the snow was really coming down as we were shooting. To be honest, I wish it had been more of a gentle snowfall, instead of all these wild diagonal lines 😂 But when you work with nature as a collaborator, you take what you're given!

Folks on Patreon were very concerned about my warmth during this shoot, but don't worry: I was wearing insulated base layers and was shooting approximately 50 feet from my house, so I was back inside before I even got chilly!

The diagonal lines add to ~the drama~

Heather Hofshi

Nobody noticed me except a guy clearing off his car across the street, who didn't say anything! 😂

Ginny Di

And that right there is exactly why I didn't like the effect. 😂 Because it's too much, it looks fake! And not only fake, but like... poorly-executed fake!

Ginny Di

That turned out soooo good!!! Great shoot, hope you enjoyed and were able to take full advantage of it!

I like the diagonal snow lines. I always find it fascinating the different effects small elements like that can have. Like large, floofy, gently-falling flakes would give the pics a more magical vibe, whereas the streaking snow makes it feel a bit more bleak, grim, like, "Winter's finally here. Crap." Also, if no one's said it (or even if someone else has, I suppose) Bryndis and Kiliren soooo deserve a game of Star Crossed. Hrm. Now I'm thinking, play a game of Star Crossed within a game of one-on-one D&D. Set up the tower and intersperse the Star Crossed scenes with your D&D encounters and challenges. And if someone knocks over the tower while rolling dice, that wraps up the romantic arc. (After the battle, Bryndis lies bleeding on the ground, all her heals spent, and Kiliren, weeping over her fallen, bloody protector, confesses her true feelings.)

Spectacular!!!!!

So... did the neighbor come out and ask, "So.... what's up?" Or did team distraction work? :D

Geoff Gilbert

What?! Lol. At first I was like "Well, the photoshopped snow is a bit too much" then i read the text. Well done.

ChatN

Thankfully, I was well insulated from them, so I also do not know how cold the metal parts got lol

Ginny Di

I've been having so much fun writing her and Kiliren's character sheets (which are in my shop now as a bundle!) and the Solstice Vale PDF (which... should come out today? 🤞) I had a story in my head, but it always goes through changes when I put it onto paper.

Ginny Di

I know how warm a good cloak can be, but I do not want to think of how cold the metal parts got.

Graves

Gosh. These look great! I’m so happy we’re getting to see more of Bryndis. I’ve wanted to know more since last year’s calendar.

Danny Faust

Awesome photos Ginny

Ramona Wanders

Looking good, really great outfit. And the drama of the diagonal snow works too :)

Jesper Fledelius-Gehrke

You should be on the next reboot of Game of Thrones!

Nathanial

The vibes in these photos are so powerful. I love Bryndis so much. Like damn. So good. Also, women in armor make me swoon. Thank you for posting the photos. :D

Shallie Dragon

There's something about snow that makes a fantasy scene immediately seem more magical

So amazing!!! I love Bryndis and these turned out brilliant!

Amanda Llewellyn

Is it warm enough? I'm feeling cold just by seeing it XD

Patty

I took it as an excuse to cook and really warm up the kitchen.

Max Brannan

This is incredible!

Chris Codina

Hey I ain’t complaining! I’m a huge fan! Actually found your insta from GoT stuff in the way back when. Literally watching ASOIAF lore right now for inspiration for my setting guide.

Scabbers

Since I didn't have anywhere to go, I got to gaze at it through the window and feel cozy and aesthetic! 😂 Makes it easy to love the snow, but I know not everyone has that privilege.

Ginny Di

haha!! I told Josh, "everyone is gonna make the Arya comparison because of the cloak and the setting" 😂

Ginny Di

Always love a strong woman with a sword. :D

Michael Brost

"we might not get another big snowfall this year" Nice jinx!

Kalcheus

YEAH!! Bryndis is quickly becoming a favorite! SO COOL!

Jason Megatron Burrows

I’M! OB! SESSED!

Annika

Very convincing character.

Jeremy Webster

As another snowed in Denverite, I am impressed by your ability to make something great out of it.

Max Brannan

Absolutely stunning! Bryndis is definitely my fave! I can't wait to read about the Vale.

Bennett Hobson

Great pictures! Thanks Ginny Di.

Patrick Maloney

Hmmm… it’s giving Arya with the cloak. Love it! Looking forward to the setting her PDF. Got a blank spot on my homebrew map I’d love some inspiration for

Scabbers

That is really quite striking.
