The Day the World Stood Stoopid

 Dr. Grace was looking over the patient in the ER. His name was Tony. “What seems to be the problem Tony?” 

“Well I used to be really, ugh, umm what's the word, ummmm Big brain, but now I'm uhhh, little brain.” 

“Do you mean smart and dumb?” 

“Yes?” Tony kind of cocked his head to the side. 

“Interesting let's look you over.” Dr. Grace took her stethoscope and started to check his breathing. 

“What do you do for a living?” She asked 

“I fired,” 

“What did you used to do?” Tony took his hand and lifted it up into the air like it was taking off. 

“You were a, um rocket?” Tony and Grace kind of laughed. 

“No one rocket help lady.” Grace shook her head and tried to calm herself down. 

“No, I mean you worked with Rockets. You are a Rocket scientist?” 

Tony bopped his nose with his index finger and crossed his eyes and looked at his finger he started to giggle. Grace pushed his hand down as it was blocking her from getting a good sound of his chest. 

“When would you say you became, uh, not as uh, not dumb?” She shook her head trying to clear it, it seemed to be getting more difficult to think. 

“Sister, bring over friend person. He dumb dumb too.” 

“And you two did what together?” 

“Nothing, not a thing, no ting ding ling bing ding. Heh bell.” Tony laughed as his speech just turned into a bunch of noises. 

Grace tried to concentrate but found things difficult. Like her head seemed to be emptying more and more with every passing second, first she couldn't think of the word smart, then she called Tony a rocket, and found it funny. She seemed to be affected. She cleared her throat. “I'm going to get, uh, help person. To um, help.” She went to the phone in the room and dialed the nurse at the front desk. “I need this room, uh locky, Lock, Lock.” It was so difficult to come up with words. 

The nurse on the other end of the line started giggling, “Lock is such a silly willy sounding word.” he giggled some more. 

Grace's heart plunged. So hard to think, but she knew what was going on, The virus had already spread. She turned on the TV. The channel had been set to cartoons. She quickly flipped to the news. 

“Noooooo!” Tony Screamed “I want cartoon!” 

The news anchors were on top of the desks looking like they were about to wrestle, one of their feet slipped off the desktop and they fell to the floor, The other just laughed and laughed. 

“This is it.” Grace thought, “The day the world became not smart.” and she giggled to herself.
