Life of a College Grad - Part 4

As October dragged on Molly did remember that she really should be applying for some jobs. Weekdays were pretty boring since Dakota had to work. Her mom was good about making sure she had a warm fresh breakfast, but even she had to work too in order to put food on the table. So with some of her day (she still had to scroll instagram for a few hours) she started to look at jobs once more. It was boring work, and she found herself subconsciously sticking her hand into something while she clicked around online. It was bags of chips most often, but sometimes boxes of crackers, or containers of cookies. Munch, munch, much. At least it kept her occupied while she did the most boring thing in the world.

Molly was looking forward to Thanksgiving. After being home nearly six months, and hanging out with Dakota now for about four, Molly’s appearance was looking quite different. At the end of summer she still looked thin, just with a bit of a belly. Now though, as she came down stairs mid day to check on the Thanksgiving meal for the day, she was looking much softer. Her belly had grown from a starter into full on potbelly. There were no more abs, instead there was a nice inch or more thick layer of fat all the way down to her waist. Her growth had even started to push out sideways, blessing Molly with a pair of small love handles and some thicker thighs. Looking at her now it would be hard to tell that she was ever as thin as she once was. Nonetheless, she was excited about Thanksgiving.

Her mom always cooked on Thanksgiving, normally just for her and her younger sister. With her sister at school, Molly asked if Dakota could come for Thanksgiving this year. She knew her friend could never pass up a meal. Janice was delighted by this, and did her best to make sure this was her best thanksgiving meal yet, as she wanted to impress their guest.

“Smells great mom.” Molly said, saddling up into the kitchen, taking a look at everything cooking and steaming away.

“When will your friend Dakota get here?” Her mom asked, not taking her attention off the food.

“I told her 12:30 for a 1pm meal.” Molly replied.

“Good. It might be more like 1:30, but I whipped up a few snacks for you girls in the living room.” Molly was immediately intrigued by snacks and saunted off to the living room to investigate. She found the coffee table loaded with goodies. Chips and dip, pigs in a blanket, some salsa and queso, and more. Molly helped herself, and before she knew it the doorbell rang. She looked at her phone and realized 30 minutes had passed. It had to be Dakota, so she went to go answer the door. There was Dakota on the other side, wearing a festive sweater that hugged her large curves.

Walking past the kitchen Dakota couldn’t help but poke her head in. “Hi Janice.” She greeted the busy mom, as she continued to follow Molly to the living room.

“My mom put out some snacks since Thanksgiving dinner will be a little late to the table.” Molly informed her friend.

“Sweet!” Dakota replied. “I was gonna offer to help your mom, but snacks are even better.” The two of them devoured everything on the table in the hour leading up to their meal, and once everything was ready they joined Janice in the dining room.

Getting their first real look at the feast, both hungry girls were stunned seeing the whole thing in all of its splendor. There was a large turkey in the middle of course, but a very large bowl of fluffy looking potatoes sat next to it. Ceramic dishes of all sorts encircled the turkey, but Molly was most excited for the stuffing. There was a basket full of rolls, along with plenty of butter and cranberry sauce.

The girls sat down without hesitation, and they all started to pass the dishes around, both Molly and Dakota not ashamed to load up their plates. A pleasant conversation was sparked, one that started with Molly’s mom asking her how the job hunt was going. “Obviously not well.” She huffed. “I’ve had a few interviews but no offers so far. At least I’m getting called back, unlike when I was looking over the summer. It’s just really competitive out there I guess.”

“And how about you Dakota? How are you liking your job?” She asked the only employed college grad at the table.

“Oh it’s great, I can see myself there for a long time. It’s kinda like a second family.” She replied.

“That sounds delightful.” She turned her attention back towards Molly. “Maybe you can apply there hun? “

Molly laughed. “You don’t think I would have tried. They rarely have openings. Koda is the first person they have hired in five years.”

“Well you know, I just worry about you going to work for some scummy place. I hope you hold out until you find somewhere good. You know you’re welcome here as long as you need it.” Molly was pleased by the sentiment, but she wanted to get her future started sooner than later. Though she had to admit it though she had it pretty sweet here. Free rent and plenty of free food. “And you’re welcome to come over any time too Dakota dear. You two are always going out. Would it kill you to have a night in once in a while?”

Both girls giggled as they started to refill their plates since there was still plenty left. Janice called it after her first plate, but the girls each went back for seconds and then thirds. Everything was perfectly cooked, and neither of them had ever had a better or more filling Thanksgiving meal before. There was still more on the table, but Janice reminded them to save some room for dessert, so they quit while they still had a little room.

“So I made an apple pie for Molly, because I know that’s her favorite.” Janice said as she came back into the dinning room holding a few new plates. “But I didn’t know what you like Dakota, so I made a pecan and pumpkin. I tried to go traditional.” She smiled as she put the pies down and started to slice them, cutting off a big slice of apple for Molly.

“I’m more of a chocolate cream pie gal, but I won’t say no to any of those.” Dakota replied.

“A slice of all three then?” Janice rhetorically asked as she started to stack all the slices on a plate. “A girl after my own heart.”

Molly, not wanting to be left out, chirped up. “Hey, I want to try those too.” She whined.

“Not a problem dear.” Her mother said, cutting her slices of the other pies as well. The gluttonous girls ate their pies, finishing their meal once and for all. Molly's belly doubled in size from how much she had packed away. It would shrink down in time and distribute all those new calories across her body, a practice that had been happening for months now. All in all it was a great Thanksgiving.
