Cola Flavour: Part One

Below you will find a document dump on a bunch of things cola-related. There are various formulas I've found in books, plus a bunch of articles on cocaine in cola, specifically Coca-Cola, though many other companies use cocaine in their beverages, it was good for sales and no laws were preventing it. If you've ever heard that Coca-Cola denies cocaine was in their soda, this should convince you otherwise. And there are many more news clippings like this, but often just a paragraph or two of people and reporters talking about the "soda habit" and how Coca-Cola has a peculiar allure to people. And yes, there was a cola company that put cocaine in their soda called the Speed Ball Company (Washington DC)

The cola formulas listed here are a great starting point, though some are on rather large scales suitable for commercial production. I will be providing a formula sheet with the next video using a reasonable batch size so you can experiment.

And the ad free video is linked above and it goes to an external viewer. The Patreon upload features don't include subtitles and are a bit limited; however for some reason, when I try to embed this video, it puts it in a vertical format. I will be on YouTube tomorrow.

Citrus and cinnamon seems odd, but it works so well in so many things.

I accidentally found a great entry-point for tasting cola as a "spiced citrus-based" beverage: Haribo Happy Cola gummy candies. The flavor formulation they use leans so extremely towards lemon and cinnamon/cassia that the notes are easy to pick out, but the essence of cola-ness is still there. Worth $2 for a bag if anyone's never had them

If you are in the US, look up Durkee Caramel color, it should work well.
