Consulting about community

Hello everyone, I have something I’d like to ask you all.

I’ll admit that I’m not very good at managing my community. I used to make animations in Thailand’s Stickman community. Back then, I went by the name Topkillgrean.

It was really fun. On that site, everyone would create their own characters based on the storyline, where everyone was a fighter in some Thaistickman faction or something like that.

At one point, I made a 5-episode animation. The length gradually increased from 5 minutes up to 19 minutes. It took me a total of 4 years to finish all 5 episodes.

Because it was stickman work, the production time wasn’t too long per episode, so I often used my friends’ characters as supporting characters. It felt like we were making something like Avengers: Endgame together.

Looking back, I feel like I want to do something like that again. A place where everyone creates characters based on the same story setting, helping to form pieces of that world together. But I don’t know how to start.

At first, I thought about creating a Facebook group for this. But I didn’t want it to end up with everyone just posting their own work and then leaving, with each piece being standalone and not really contributing to anything bigger. So I never decided to start something like that, and I don’t know how to begin.

Thanks, everyone. I actually already have a Discord server, but I'm not very good at managing a community when the chat blows up because I'm not available to chat with fans in real-time. Plus, there's the issue of it being in English, which I'm not proficient in. Anyway, I think it would be better if I had a comic that tells the story of the characters and the world I've created. I'm starting to feel that animation isn't fast enough or able to tell a story in enough depth to build a community. With that in mind, I want to hurry and finish the opening intro so I can start on the comic.

with the current examples so far, maybe something similar to what Cartoon Network did in their CN Real Era. a city where everyones OCs exist between being actors for their respective media.

I think with the stickman example has another element to it. in that example, There was a clear theme and possibly setting. Stickman characters with fighting as a theme, likely within a similar setting. I would like to see definite rules for the world. like what kinda OCs can be there. what's there, how do things work? It could help to develop a solid setting, something people can imagine and create things for.
