Daily Update 4/16

I finished the Alpha of MH today. Did some testing to be super transparent. I did not do the 12 hours+ that it probably needs of testing to find every bug and possible crash. Though I did play through the entire available story, and do all available side quests and positions with no issues. So good enough? TBH won't know until you all get your hands on it and find those pesky bugs so I can smash them.

What else did I do today?

I finished writing the rough draft script for chapter 9 of Her fall. For those of you who do not know yet the order of operations that I do with Her Fall chapters is like this:

Chapter bulletpoints - Essentially sum up the chapter in 100ish words

Rough Draft Script - Write a paragraph or so for each scene describing the convo going on/things that happen in the scene.

Full Script - Write every line of dialogue, using pseudocode so that I can just copy and paste it in directly when I have the images done. Also helps for knowing what renders/animations to get as I can just throw it up on my second/third monitor and follow along.

Get the Renders and Animations - Should be obvious...

Organize, rename, and compress renders and animations - See above....

Add the Animations to the code - Do I need to say it...?

Code the Screens - When talking about Renpy a screen is what the player sees in front of the main image. So things like arrows or speed up slow downs, or all of that essentially the UI.

Make the audio files - Just go through the script see what areas need audio and what files will be needed, go to the correct girl folder, listen to a couple thousands of options till I find something that sounds alright. Toss in some other sexy time effects for taste, save that as a new audio file, add it to the code.

Code the Game itself - Basically once I have all the stuff before this part done. I just need to tell the game hey show this image while saying this dialogue, and playing this audio file, and bring up this screen with it which connects to this other image rinse and repeat till complete.

Bug Test - I generally play through the entire update clicking every variant of every button if time allows.

Build the distributions - Thats the part you download.

Upload the distributions - Thats how you get them!

That's quite literally the entire process that I go through. Why Did I make this? a couple of reasons. I am tired. If you read this posts you know how I get when I am tired....
Also just for the people that didn't know and are actually curious... Now you know.
But that is also why when I know I will be crunched on time I will forgo the audio as that generally takes up to 2 days to get done. whereas getting all the renders and animations for an entire chapter only takes 2 days. So... given the choice I give way more fucks about being able to see something then hearing some sexy noises... but yea.

So what will be included in the next update of Her Fall since I said we will be making the releases a bit smaller going forward so we can make the chapters longer?

Well judging from what I have written so far on the rough draft. I have 10 scenes for each route typed out. I would say I can probably do Scenes 1-4 on route A, and Scenes 1-3 for route B. So 7 Scenes in total which NGL thats not bad as that is still more content then most of the older chapters lol. I mean all of them before chapter 7 anyways. Chapter 7 was decently large, 8 is BY FAR the largest chapter I have done so far. I mean chapter 7 is I would say just over half the size of chapter 8. And chapter 6 was what? 60% the size of chapter 7? The largest chapter before chapter 7 was chapter 3 though. I would say this update will be about the length of chapter 3. So all in all a decently long chapter overall but as there are 2 routes to it, it will not feel as long. Which Is why I always was saying make sure you have 2 saves to experience both routes. But that's all for today. I am going to pass out.

Tomorrow I will either A. Be doing the full script write. B. Do the audio files for chapter 8 full release. Or C. Honestly may just take a day off? I have had 3 games I have downloaded that I have been waiting weeks to play and just have not allowed myself any time to game for myself just been wake up, work, eat, work, sleep, repeat. So one of the 3 I guess I won't know until I wake up.
