Huge Holy 18

The next day, I was taking a day off.
The quests were secured by commoner adventurers other than me, so there were no quests that I could accept.
Being off duty, I was entrusted with the task of cooking and cleaning.
Because of that, I got up early in the morning again today and boiled some water before the employee brought in the ingredients.
At the same time as yesterday, the usual receptionist brought the ingredients.
The other side greeted me with an awkward “Good morning…”
I exchanged greetings without worrying about it, started preparing the ingredients, and asked.
“Excuse me. Just to be sure, there is something I would like to confirm.”
“Y-yes. What would it be?”
“First of all, the cafeteria and other facilities are free, the supplies are free, and borrowing weapons are also free… Does that mean that support is only for nobles?”
“No! There is absolutely no problem if everyone uses it!!... Why would you think that?”
As expected, the receptionist apologized and honestly said that, probably because we are in a place where no one could see.
“There are constant troubles between the commoners and the nobles. Especially in the dining room…”
“I see. it's okay for commoners to use a facility, but only the archives.”
Suddenly, the receptionist seemed to remember and raised her face.
“There's absolutely no problem with borrowing low-rank weapons! Rather, they're just covered in dust because they aren’t being used by anyone.”
“Aah. I see, I guess the nobles have excellent weapon craftsmen make them themselves.”
“That's right... I heard Josiah-san doesn't even have a wand. What do you think?”
Did Christoph tell you about my weapon situation?
Still, why are you asking about my weapon even though subjugation quests haven't come in?.
“By the way, what kind of weapons do you have?”
“Yes. Wands are available in certified lengths of small, medium and large. We also have low-ranked magic crystals available in three different sizes. Ah! We also have grimoires.”
A grimoire huh?. It's something that a magic circle user can't even ask for.
If I were to compare it to the world I used to live in, it would be a [Smartphone].
The main body of the grimoire would be the smartphone itself. The magic circle formula written in the grimoire is the apps.
Install your favorite apps on your smartphone and enjoy.
Write your favorite formula on the main body of the grimoire, pour in magic power and easily activate magic.
Also, although it is called a grimoire, it is not made of paper, but of the isekai mineral [Mithril], which is also used to make guild cards.
It’s something that everyone has heard of, [Mithril] is.
The people in the world I used to live in must have thought that it would be expensive, but surprisingly, surprisingly. Unexpectedly it’s not. Mithril is a major mineral in isekai.
It’s just that the value changes depending on whether the quality is good or bad, and even commoners can obtain Mithril if it is of poor quality.
The mithril used to make guild cards is also cheap and of poor quality, so they can be easily issued.
…There is a technique formula I want to try with a grimoire, so maybe I’ll just borrow as much as I can?
☆
“Next, attack.”
[Waon!]
After the commoner adventurers all left for a quest, I borrowed a grimoire and completed it――a dog familiar spirit.
The best part about this is that this technique formula incorporates the grimoire as a storage medium.
The [Familiar] spell, which creates a familiar spirit, is the one and only common magic that can be learned even by people that have elements other than light.
The downside is that it does not allow for complex commands.
I also simplified the formula and was finally able to increase the number of commands to two or three, but two or three was the limit for a magic circle that could be deployed immediately.
However, grimoires are different.
There is a lot more space to write.
I like that the material used for the main body of the grimoire is mithril. Even though the quality is poor, you can put in a simple program in there, that is about the same as a simple smartphone.
In the future, by incorporating pseudo-AI programs, I can increase the number of things it can do, such as identifying individuals and objects, making judgments, fighting, assisting, and so on, it can even reach the level of android that mankind has dreamed of.
...To be honest though, this is just a hobby.
Wherever it is, magic circles are outdated. It won’t be acknowledged, so it's just pointless.
I just wanted to establish proof that the technique formula was correct.
My technique formula was proven because the familiar spirit responded properly in the test run.
This is just a preliminary step to what's next.
“Yosh, next, I'm going to make a washing machine.”
――――
(T/N: magic books (魔導書). Should I translate it as ‘grimoire’ or ‘spellbooks’ instead? Well, I ended up translating it to ‘grimoire.’
Familiar spirit (使い魔) (Tsukaima). Translated as ‘familiar’ but this fiction already has ‘familiar’ in katakana, so I’ll use ‘familiar spirit’ instead.
Technique formula (術式) (Jutsushiki). I sometimes translate it as ‘technique’ sometimes as ‘formula’ depending on the context. The ‘technique’ part (jutsu) can be translated as ‘magic’, or ‘skill’, but ‘spell’ would be more accurate. But I decided on using this because ‘spell’ just seems weird and inaccurate to me.
If you have any advice on alternate translations or something, please let me know.)
