Rick and Dan argue and Rick quits the show. Dan regains his composure and interviews Jacob the Carpetbagger. Enjoy!

I would love to hear Jacob and Adam the Woo on the podcast together someday

Waiting for my drive into work tomorrow to listen to this one. Gives me something to look forward to :) OK finished up. Tbh I think a break is needed. Maybe a month or so? That way Rick can find his own path. I’d love to see another odd place get going again. Dan can continue doing what he’s doing. Then the two can join back after they regroup. Maybe do a podcast with Rick once/twice a month? Just my thoughts :)

(kid after listening to parents fight) "Are Mom and Dad getting a divorce?" Dan and Rick, I concur with a lot of the thoughts here. It's obvious you both care about each other a lot. And no, everyone is not the same or will do the same thing - we're all different and that's what makes us individuals. I love you both for what you bring to us Patrons, in your own unique way. I won't comment on the disagreement cuz I think that honestly is between you too, but Rick I really do hope you take some of these suggestions and consider them deeply. I think you know we all appreciate you, and we just want you to succeed and also know you have more to offer than just Cocktail Hour. You're such an extremely interesting person with lots of your own great stories and humor. I'd love some more another odd place or story time with Rick. ❤️ Be patient, you'll get there!! - Steph

Agreed. I think Rick should focus more on stuff like "Shopping with Rick", "Another Odd Place". Youtube is incredibly competitive and to be honest right now his channel makes him feel like a vlogger and those are a dime a million. What could help him grow is making actual content. Live streams imo aren't really content. Edited stuff is what sets a filmmaker apart from a youtuber. IMO it is the biggest thing that made Dan's content appeal to me. It feels professionally made and has just the right amount of humor in it. I would also say Cocktail Hour is worthless on youtube and will honestly probably hurt your algorithm because if you do it enough and get no views your channel won't be recommend and neither will your videos. Its why I know of at least 3 channels with 100K subs that had to make a second channel for their other stuff because views and viewer engagement was so poor their content wasn't getting recommend to people. Rick if your reading this, you REALLY REALLY need to move Cocktail hour over to Twitch. Not only is that platform now for everything including video games but there is a sub option which allows people to actually sub to your channel for $4.99 a month and you get half. People also get a free sub every month if they Amazon Prime since they own Twitch. They also have built in stuff for donations, and more. I think Cocktail hour can work but not on youtube. I would use that for your edited videos and Twitch for your livestreams.

I guess my biggest question is what actually is Rick's goal on media? I mean he has the fan base already. Maybe not the cash. Are Dan's comments harsh? Yes. But they're also right. I'm personally not a fan of cocktail hour but it serves it's purpose as like a twice a week check in for fans, its just it doesn't provide anything other than that. Rick's best talent is he can make even the most mundane things like shopping and eating soap absolutely hilarious. There's so much potential for comedic content, whether it's on his channel or Dan's. I just hope things get better.

I found the drama quite entertaining. Hopefully you'll both continue to work together, it just wouldn't be the same show without the both of you.

Costanza

Ditto. It was a downer. I’m glad I got off. I’m not perfect. I could create more. Although the unable to spell iris would hope I wouldn’t. Then craw into fetal position and stfu.

Well said

“Thanks for the oysters.” Over the years of watching Dan’s content, on my happiest and darkest moments of my life. Though the thousands of hours of content and listening to it ALL including EVERY episode of the podcast at least 50+ times (no I’m not bullshitting either) some things with Rick have become apparent. Dan has a fallowing because his work genuinely touches people and is well done. Rick has none of that. The problem is Rick dose not put in the effort Toto his channel to warrant a fallowing at all. His content is boring-repudiative-annoying-poorly made and just genuinely bad. He just plus on the podcast and expects money and views but in order for the “pay though exposure” to work he needs to put out well rounded content. He dose not then blames Dan and argues over the most trivial things. Rick begged for fans for months then they went to savers. Rick did nothing real to fallow up. Just keeps sipping cocktails live on YouTube and expecting money to fall at his feet. It dose not work that way. Then he gets mad about not having respect or being the butt of a joke. Meanwhile Rick has a whole fucking stupid website about adult diapers. Yet is surprised by jokes. Rick dose not understand exposure. Some people don’t like it, and if you don’t then don’t do the show. But if he really wanted money or views he would put the pipe he found at that motel and edit some real-interesting videos. But every time someone provides ideas or criticism he either ignores it or says “that’s how you think.” Yeah but Dan is right. Rick surrounds him self with people that agree so he is in his own eco chamber. And is never wrong. Meanwhile anyone that disagrees is just seen by him as some enemy and is ignored. Not only is that wrong but it is a fallacy. I’ve criticized Dan in the past, Rick is not free from that. Genuine criticism is a gift and Rick needs to accept it if he wants to get what he wants. I’ve actually been listening to the old episodes of the podcast recently and it always boils down to the same things. Rick needs to get a grip. I know he’s not leaving but he needs a real reality check. Because his boomer self still dose not understand something. I’m gonna end it here because it’s long but for fuck sakes Rick do something with your platform. And I have a song suggestion Chemicals by rosemary fairweather Also would love to be a guest if that ever happens again on here ❤️

I am hoping that my comment doesn't get me banned because I do enjoy your content. But I'm very disappointed that I was excited to hear carpet bagger on your show but finally turned it off after 25 minutes of you berating Rick and others that have disagreed with you. It must have been pretty uncomfortable for Jacob to sit there. Rick tried several times to want to just move on but you had to make an example of him. This is probably the only Podcast of yours that I have ever not listened to all the way through. What a downer.

I do think Rick has a point. I don’t think he does as much as Dan does but Rick does contribute to almost every podcast and ADR. I also think Dan likes to antagonize Rick. I love you both and I love to listen to you together!

Tina Stanbaugh

Not going to post much today, because this was a depressing podcast. Felt bad for Jacob having to sit through that.

I discovered Jake through Dan's videos a few years ago when he came to Baltimore and they went to Ripley's together. He's always such an enthusiastic, earnest, and positive guy no matter where he goes, and he really chooses some fantastic places to go check out.

Dani Russo

Also, I just recently started watching the Carpetbagger and enjoy his videos and was a good discussion, you should have him back again with Rick
