Hello everyone! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I wish you all the best of health and joyous guitar playing!
Your support means the world to me - thank you for being a Patron.
This time I chose to cover the iconic melody Mo' Better Blues from the homonymous movie. The song was composed and performed by the great jazz players Branford Marsalis and his Quartet, featuring Terence Blanchard on trumpet.
The original song is in the key of G but I transposed it to E major. It's not your standard 12 bar blues. This one has 8 bars, and the harmony is the same for all 7 choruses.
In the arrangement I put two themes at the beginning and at the end which leaves three choruses for the solo in the middle. The second chorus of the solo is a transcription of the Branford Marsalis saxophone solo.
With this cover I'll open a new series of videos featuring only blues music on guitar. There are so many great blues compositions and ideas; and I have been wanting to focus special attention on this for so long that I finally decided to stop wanting and start doing 😉
Hope you like it!
All the best!
Ivan
