It's been a long time, long time

"It's been a long time, long time" was composed back in 1945 right after  World War II and it was about a post war lovers reunion. The best known version was played by trumpeter and band leader Harry James, and the  song stayed on top of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart for 22 weeks. After that it still remained very popular and even became a jazz standard sung and played by many, such as: Perry Como, Peggy Lee, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, and even Tom  Jones. The song was also used in two movies; Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: The First Avenger.

Here I did a transcription of the entire orchestrated piece by Harry James. It might be a bit challenging to play at first just because there are almost no repeating parts and there are a lot of chords to memorize, but with practice it will get easier.

The intro and first chorus are in the key of G major, the second chorus  is in B major (remember! 5 sharps) and the last part, which includes the solo, is in the keys of E major and A major.

If you would like to play this over the original song you will need to put the capo on the first fret.

It's been a long time, long time
