Its popularity soon spread outside Latin America and it was performed by many artists: Celia Cruz, Julio Iglesias, Gipsy Kings, Ray Coniff, Roberto Torres and Plácido Domingo and others...
A massive Gypsy Kings hit Bamboléo is actually a version of this song. It borrowed some verses from the Caballo Viejo but the theme and the chorus are different.
With this arrangement, in a simple manner, I presented three main melodies from the song: the theme which appears at the beginning and at the end, verse and chorus. Each part is played two times. The song is in the key of D minor (F major) and it consists of a very simple harmony of only three chords Dm, A7 and Gm.
