"At Last" is a song by the American blues and soul singer Etta James, released in 1960 as part of her debut album titled "At Last!". The song was originally composed by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren for the musical film "Sun Valley Serenade" in 1941. Etta James' rendition is widely regarded as one of the greatest love songs of all time and has been covered by numerous artists.
I created this arrangement for the electric guitar. It was much easier to capture the beauty of Etta James' phrases on the electric guitar than attempting it with fingerstyle. Almost all of these phrases are placed within the F major and F minor pentatonic scales. Although this is a straightforward blues, the form of it does not adhere to the standard 12-bar blues structure. Instead, it follows an AABA form, with each part consisting of 16 bars, including the intro.
After memorizing the piece, I suggest trying to play it in a very relaxed, laid-back manner, almost intentionally lagging behind the beat.
