Bye Bye Blues

A popular American song published in 1925, "Bye Bye Blues" is a well-known standard in both popular and jazz music. It has been recorded by numerous artists over the years, but the most well-known recording is the one made in 1952 by Les Paul and Mary Ford. Their version was released on the album "Bye Bye Blues" and reached number five on the Billboard magazine Best Selling Popular Albums chart. Cab Calloway and his orchestra brought their signature swing and showmanship to the song in 1941, delivering a vibrant and energetic rendition. Jeff Beck, though he never recorded it in the studio, famously performed "Bye Bye Blues" live with Imelda May, showcasing his brilliance! The song has also been featured in several films, including the 1989 film "Bye Bye Blues", the 1957 film "The Joker is Wild", and the 2005 film "The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio".

This guitar arrangement draws inspiration from Cab Calloway's version. It opens with a bass line intro, leading into the main theme. The transcribed solos, adapted for guitar with minor adjustments, are based on Calloway's recording. While the original solos are more extensive, this arrangement has two choruses of the saxophone solo, one chorus of the trumpet solo, and one chorus of the vibraphone solo. Following the solos, the full orchestra section, with its distinctive arrangement and rhythmic breaks, is featured before a final reprise of the theme.
