Starring Bill Skarsgård as the menacing Count Orlok, Lily-Rose Depp as the doomed Ellen, Nicholas Hoult as the ambitious Thomas Hutter, and Willem Dafoe as the eccentric Professor Von Franz, this film is a gothic masterpiece dripping with atmosphere, dread, and Eggers' signature visual style.
Plot: In the 1830s, estate agent Thomas Hutter travels to Transylvania for a fateful meeting with Count Orlok, a prospective client. In his absence, Hutter's new bride, Ellen, is left under the care of their friends, Friedrich and Anna Harding. Plagued by horrific visions and an increasing sense of dread, Ellen soon encounters an evil force that's far beyond her control.

That opening song is iconic. Every time I get this "warm and cozy, let's settle in for some fun" feeling. I was a huge fan of 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' and saw it at the cinema 3 times... probably because it came out when I was 15 and I totally fell for the added overly dramatic, romantic destiny plotline. This film depicts the relationship in a much more... realistic(?) way, i.e. friggin gross. I love it.
