Going forward I'll be posting an monthly overview highlighting some of the books & media I've been adding to the CARI Scans & Media Archive! I've uploaded 23 items so far this March, including selections from 2006 issues of one of my favorite design magazines, VM&SD (Visual Merchandising & Store Design). Highlights:
The Supermodern Wardrobe (2002) is an incredible collection of high-tech, experimental, and futuristic fashion from around the turn of the millennium.
SPA-DE (Space Design) Vols. 7 & 14 are part of a wonderful series showcasing architectural and interiors projects, from the 2000s-2010s, some really wild design in these.
The Magic of Neon (1986) is a collection of vibrant neon designs in interiors, signage, and art, from the 1970s & 1980s.
Fifties Style: Then & Now (1988) is a fun overview of the 1950's design revival in the 1980s, including styles like Googie & Lounge kitsch.
Latin American Graphic Design (2008) is an expansive survey of graphic design in Latin America in the 2000s; it's been a very valuable resource for styles like Vectorbloom, UrBling, Vectorheart, and many others prominent at the time.
The Internet Case Study Book (2010) contains a wide range of website designs in the 2000s, along with descriptions of their functionality & intent.
