Hi All,
I've uploaded a total of 40 items to the archive in August & September, spanning a wide variety of fields from graphic design, packaging, interiors, architecture, illustration and logos. In total, there's now about ~620 books & magazine issues currently in the archive! If you have any issues accessing the archive, which is on Google Drive, please let me know and I'll be able to help!
Highlights:
IdN Magazine (various years) - Found an archive of this incredible graphic design magazine from Hong Kong in the CalArts Library, will be scanning many more in the future. Captures a wide variety of graphic designers and styles prominent in the 2000s and 2010s.
Casino Design (1999) - This is a really fun collection of extravagant hotels and casinos from the peak of that 'theme xtreme' era in the 1990s. Goes beyond just Las Vegas, showcasing examples from all over the US and world.
Collage with Photoshop (1995) and Fresh Ideas in Photoshop (1999) -- These are both a showcase of graphic designers and artists who were early adopters of Photoshop and other similar programs in the 90s; a great overview of their work, ranging from the 'Renaissance Revival/Whimsigothic overlays & effects' look, to the more surreal saturated Factory Pomo/Frasurbane of Glenn Mitsui and Steve Lyons.
17th Annual BDA (Broadcast Design Awards) International Design Awards (1996) - This is a really interesting one! It collects various TV bumpers, branding, collateral, print materials, interstitials, etc. that you can't really find anywhere else or may have never even been archived elsewhere. I'll be scanning a few more of these I found in the CalArts library soon (15th and 16th editions).
Spectacular Homes of Florida: An Exclusive Showcase of Florida's Finest Designers (2006) - Recently been diving more into the '2000s Tuscan' style; fascinated with how those excessive interiors cobbled together a bunch of different influences beyond just 'McMansion-ized' Tuscan. Animal prints, "Old World Luxury" style melange, a smorgasbord of faux finishes, and 'Thomas Kinkade if he did Italian villages' paintings galore.
Thank you again for your continued support!
