How We Are Now

Dear friends,

It's been such a long time.  I know many of you may have wondered if you'd ever hear from us again.  And, to be honest, I wasn't sure that you would. But it turns out that we do have some more stories to tell.

This episode is the update I have been hoping to share with you for a while now.  In part, the long delay is due to... life.  Our plates have been full, with hard times as well as wonderful ones.

The other factor has been  my daughter's growing need for privacy.   She's almost 16 now.  And she wants to decide what stories get told, and to whom.  For now, that means her mom isn't sharing much.  But there are a few things that she has given me permission to share, and you can here them in this latest episode.  (Plus a glimpse of what is to come on the podcast. )

Episode XXXIII: How We are Now

Thank you for all your support, all these years.  It means so much to us. And thanks for putting up with such a long wait!

Warmest wishes,

Marlo

Aww, thank you, Alexandra. That feels really good to hear. (It can be give myself credit sometimes, but I do work hard to be the best mom i can.) Sending you a big mama hug, with all my love.

Thanks for thinking of us. That means a lot. <3

I was so happy to hear your new episode and that your daughter is doing well. I definitely missed hearing from you, but things change, especially when someone’s growing up. Sending love from Scotland. Lorna.

It's so wonderful to hear you and your daughter's voices again. It's like a long-lost friend who's back in town briefly. Her voice - so grown up! I sometimes go back to older episodes and it's always wild. I totally get her wanting some control of her identity though. I attend a support group for transgender and non-binary kids and their parents/families. I always tell people to check out your pod and your book.

So great to hear you're both thriving 💜 Please never forget how much of a wonderful parent you are, I'm sure I'm not the only trans person who wishes they could have had someone like you in their life.

Alexandra Lilly

I've been wondering regularly how you were doing. I'm so happy to hear from you!

I am so happy for your daughter that the blockers and estrogen are working. So happy it made me tear up. It's such a long journey, but I'm glad for her she's been getting that medical care. Cheers & Happy Holidays.

Laura Madge

Hehe, they'll always be our little girls, even when they're visiting us in aged care!

Nathan Jones

Aww, thank you for hanging in there with us! I certainly would understand if you thought we were done! (I wasn't sure myself, for a while there.) Perhaps you had a sixth-sense that I was busy working away on this latest episode? ;) And I'm so glad you liked the book!

Marlo Mack

Thank you, Daisy. And yes, we have had many good times. Feel VERY lucky to have a happy, healthy daughter. That's all I need for Christmas!

Marlo Mack

So happy to hear that your daughter is shining too! I feel so lucky that my kiddo is getting what she needs - and deserves. And yes, how can she my baby be almost sixteen?

Marlo Mack

Thank you so much.

Friday - literally three days ago - I was doing an end-of-the-year review of my Patreon subscriptions. I saw yours and thought “It’s been such a long time. Perhaps since publishing the book, they’ve decided to sunset the podcast.” I almost closed my pledge in order to keep everything neat and tidy. But then the thought popped up - but what if you’re wrong? What if she still is publishing episodes, it’s just on a very different type of schedule? Imagine my absolute DELIGHT when this episode popped up last night! I’m congratulating three-days-ago me for having such excellent forethought 😂 And with the possibility of more new episodes - I’m thrilled. And beyond thrilled to hear that your daughter is doing well and living the life she’s meant to live. Thank you for being who you are and doing the work you do. ❤️❤️❤️ PS - The book was wonderful 💝

On a family-filled and busy Christmas Day, I haven't had opportunity to listen to the podcast yet, but how lovely to see that it's there! So glad that you have had some wonderful times in the interim and sincerely hope those times have been in the majority and that the hard times will dim and fade as time goes on. You and your daughter have been such an inspiration to me as a parent and as a woman and the respect for your daughter's decisions are just as important a part of that as the wisdom and stories you have shared. Wishing you and your family a peaceful and joyful festive season.

Nearly sixteen?! How time flies! So good to hear from you again. And how wonderful that your kiddo is thriving and pleased with the effects of her estrogen. It really is a game changer, even for those who didn't get testosterone blockers in time. (My daughter didn't realise she was trans till she was 16, but getting the right hormones has really made her shine.)

Nathan Jones

Wow! What an unexpected, beautiful, heartwarming Christmas gift 🥹🎄🎁 such an affirming message about consent. Your daughter's news made me weep with happiness. Thank you so very much for sharing xx

Such a lovely surprise to hear from you and very happy to hear you are both well
