Reporting in Post-Tour

Beloved Patrons,

Karan here. It has now been a month since we returned from the life-changing experience that was Raj Against the Machine tour. We were extremely grateful to have met so many of you along with many equally passionate supporters of the band. So surreal was the experience that when asked, I often describe the tour as a “month-long movie”.

With great pride, I’d like to tell you that 10 out of the 15 shows we played were sold out! Not only is that an incredible feat for a band that went on tour for the first time, it is in many ways validation and proof-of-concept for all that we have worked on for the past couple of years with your help.

I’m currently working on a tour documentary which includes a lot of live footage, all the wild things that happened during the tour (eg. a proposal on stage in between Ari Ari, us getting trapped in the middle of a hurricane in Russia and carrying all our gear to the van in knee-deep sea water etc.) and some interesting stories about Bloodywood’s early days.

Given an opportunity, I would bombard you with a thousand stories (like I have since the day I came back to Archy and some of my friends) but right now, I’d like to tell you about the stories that really mattered - your stories:

At every show we tried as much as we could to spend time talking to the people who came out to see us. Many of them had stories to tell us about how they discovered us, what they thought of the show, but most importantly - how the music we played helped them overcome their problems. The stories that followed were heartbreaking - loss of siblings, parents dealing with depressed children who were victims of molestation, army horror stories that left deep mental scars. Needless to say, there were countless tears. There were hugs that lasted for several minutes. There was consolation. And then there was the real MVP - courage. These were the most “human” moments of our tour. They weren’t joyous, but they were the most beautiful experiences I have ever had.

As someone who has been doing this for a while, I can tell you with absolute conviction - there is no greater redemption for an artist than knowing that their work helped someone overcome adversity. I cannot thank you enough for supporting us so that we could experience this feeling of fulfillment.

We’re expecting to be done with the documentary within the next 3 weeks. Once out, you’ll have an exclusive premiere before it is released.

I'll update you guys with some great news (and some not so great stuff) in a few days depending on how it pans out.

Tons of love,

Karan

Had the absolute pleasure of photographing you guys in Bristol, one of the hardest gigs ive done. Not work load wise but trying to photo you guys whilst bawling my eyes out when you played Jee. Veerey. not sure Jayant caught fully what i said to him after the gig (still real loud) but that song literally made me reverse away from the edge of a cliff. So may i say to all in Bloodywood, you are the reason for me still being here and for that my children thank you eternally

Met you in Manchester, it was awesome the amount of time you gave your fans, including me. You guys are special and hope to see you all again soon.
