Fight Club Update #6: Fisting for Glory

Good evening Gang!

We have arrived at update number six! And yes the above picture is related. I somehow found a way to work this reference into the video and I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself about it. I've made some big progress in this last week and as such I'm pretty confident in saying that we're coming close to the end. The video is now almost an hour and a half long, about an hour and ten minutes of that has accompanying video (though some of it needs finessing), and script wise, we crossed the 11k words mark this morning. There's still a bit left to write, but I can see in my head where its going, what points I have left to hit, and more importantly the end goal is in sight now!

So one thing that I'm moderately concerned with (and it wont affect you guys lol), is how in the name of fuck I'm getting this thing on YouTube. This may legitimately be one that's too hot for YT. There's one particular copyright claim that means i cant use a piece of music that is basically going to completely spoil and entire segment, cause the segment is based around the song, so removing the song removes half of the joke. Then there's the violence, I have no fucking clue how King of The Streets gets away with showing what they show on YouTube and can still stay monetized. I honestly am incredulous they haven't been shut down at this point. But even if i can use their fights and somehow stay monetized, KOTS themselves are as brutal with their copyright claims as the UFC are. So I'll have to get creative to try and get this on YT and still A) keep monetization and B) show literally any KOTS footage without them claiming it.

Honestly I feel like this one may be a bit too much for the censors, and I may have to bite the bullet and leave it un-monetized.

Shoutout to Street Beefs tho,they didn't give a toss how much footage of theirs I used lol. But yeah, none of these problems will affect you guys so who cares! This will be one of the most butchered for YT versions I ever have to do, so Patrons really will be eating well with this one.Or well, maybe not well, cause, you know, you'll have to watch all the eye gouging and shit.

Also can I just say, the more KOTS I watch the more I am convinced combat sports were a mistake. I think I may switch genres completely to Toy reviews or turn into a drama slop channel or something after this because I feel like these last few weeks I've overdosed on soccer kicks, headbutts and eye gouging. I've legitimately been having nightmares about this stuff. And holy shit, I guess you should always do your research before asking someone for an interview, but when it comes to people involved with KOTS that goes doubly so. I had asked one KOTS fighter for an interview, only to see he had a litany of anti-Jewish posts on his insta stories. Thank Christ for the un-send message feature. This was one of the main reasons i had trepidation about covering KOTS, its just riddled with terminally shitty people, but nothing worth doing was ever easy I guess. As I said last week though, this really is a video of 2 halves. While there is still humour in the second half, its still probably some of the more serious work I've done in recent memory, so I guess prepare accordingly.

But, as I say, we're on track now to get this thing done soon. I would say its pretty likely I'll hit the mark of releasing on the 26th of Oct!

Look outside is, like last weeks pick, a 2D pixel art horror title, but this one is far more turn based RPG as opposed to the Survival Horror of Yuppie Psycho.

Look Outside sees you trapped in an apartment building, unable to leave or even look outside, due to an unexplained cosmic event that is turning anyone who dares look at the sky into all manner of Lovecraftian nightmares. This game has some of the best choice and consequence moments I've played in a a game in years. There were times I had to make a choice that not only did i feel genuinely bad about, but also left me wondering for days afterwards was it the right one. The art is phenomenal too, some of the pixel art monstrosities you'll encounter are genuinely creepy, nightmarish amalgamations dripping with so many eyeballs even Jon Jones couldn't poke them all.

While I did have issues with the game (sometimes your objectives aren't clear, you can softlock yourself into fail states), its a game that genuinely gets under your skin and is highly recommended if you're a fan of Lovecraftian horror, or just good RPGs.
