End of Year update #2!

I hope you all had a good week, and welcome to another Sunday night update! While events are still unfolding as we have what, 6 weeks left in 20205, the end of year recap is in full swing now. I've gotten Jan, Feb and a chunk of March written, and that adds up to about 26 minutes of video so far. I think the most surprising aspect of this so far has been how the video has essentially turned into a mini-doc on the ill-fated, possibly money laundering scam MMA promotion, the GFL. I think most of us had forgotten they exist by now, but yeah they were a much bigger part of 2025 than i remembered, despite you know, not hosting a single fight. So its been fun diving into that whole mess all over again.

One thing I've noticed in writing these end of year videos, which might seem weird for an MMA focused wrap of the year, is that i think the least enjoyable part is actually talking about the UFC pay per views. I mean that's where some of the most interesting stuff can happen, but 2025 has been well, not great in that aspect. Case in point, UFC 322, it had its moments alright, but probably the funniest part of the whole thing for me was when Dillon Danis started some drama in the crowd and got his shit wrecked by a man named John Pork while Sean O'Malley streamed it all and made fun of Danis' shoes. That may have been more entertaining than the main event to be honest. I just find it a lot more fun to talk about goofy shit like that, or some random ass sport like world championship Tyre wrestling or whatever freakshow Fight Circus put on than it is to break down a PPV that had one good fight and 4 mid ones.

So yeah, work is coming along well, and I have a bunch of time off coming up in early December, which means some extra time to work on this, and hopefully get it done a little earlier than usual.

Also, now that 322 is over, can we just take a moment to appreciate the WMMA GOAT

Some may say it was a boring performance, but was it? Or was it was a 5-0 shut out of one of the best strawweights of all time by the greatest female fighter to ever set foot in the octagon?? I believe you know the answer to this. And if you don't, then you will when the November segment of the EOY video rolls around. EVERYONE WILL SEE THE LIGHT!!!

I also finally saw The Smashing Machine this weekend, and... i have thoughts. Many thoughts. I might actually just do a review video for Patreon otherwise ill be here typing all night.
