It's not that we like you or anything... B-b-baka! -- First Donation Post

Today is the day shy schoolgirls work up the courage to give Senpai their handmade chocolate, the day that boys wait in anticipation or cold indifference. Valentine's Day is celebrated all over (much of) the world, and we chose today for our first donation post, in recognition of all the love (and monetary support) that you, our Patrons, have shown us.

AniDB is a labor of love for all of our staff, and of all our contributing users. When our free hosting ran out, we were very concerned about the future of AniDB. However, the overflowing level of appreciation and support by the community has warmed our chilled hearts and gave everyone new hope. Thank you for your chocolate; Senpai has noticed you!

Among the many features we have, AniDB's character database tracks everyone's favourite characters. As a present from us, here are the top 9 waifu/husbando of AniDB with a birthday of February 14th, Valentine's Day. Please make sure your waifu/husbando knows that they're YOUR favorite Valentine!

You can check out these characters on the site. They are the top-ranked waifu and husbando that were born on Valentine's Day. From left to right:

P.S. - Owing to everyone's support, not only were we able to save AniDB, but we were also able to upgrade some of our older hardware. One of our most expensive cron-jobs (server background tasks) used to take 4 hours to complete; it now it runs in 12 minutes. Thank you all for your support!

As a general comment, if you have a question that would need follow-up, the AniDB forum thread would be a better place to look, as that's monitored more closely. See response here: https://anidb.net/post436431

It's great hearing that the cron-jobs will now take less time. Does that mean that you'll run them more often, perhaps? I'd love it if the timeline were updated more frequently :)
