Ok, a very clear win for WW2 Armour-Penetration... I wonder if I can finagle the Conqueror as a WW2 tank and pit against some WW2-adjacent from the Soviets. Come to think of it, the ASU-85 has an 85mm gun which is at least similar to that of the T34-85. Bit of research necessary I think.

Anyway, we're back on track after doing a bit of schedule serpentine to fit BAOR in. That broadly means we're round to the Brits hitting the Company Challenge. This will be weird because Chap and I are currently fighting a PBEM on the Company Challenge Map (it's not going well).

The SLR-GPMG section level organisation of the Brits should present a very different experience to that of the US and Soviets... how much difference it makes we'll have to see.

Beyond that in the world of the Company Challenge I'm wondering if the current setup has run it's course. It's gotten very formulaic again. It' been suggested that encounter battles (ie. meeting engagements) would be a better reflection of unit capabilities, given that they're more fluid than what is essentially a pre-set attack-defend scenario.

How to actually do that is another question- I doubt CM's AI is up to it, so it'd be a matter of either PBEMing (and spending months on each battle) or coming up with a way to hotseat things. There's been a bit of work done in and adjacent to Fight Club to play CM in a more distributed way-

this is pretty good, but very time consuming so some streamlining would be necessary. I think what could work is getting you guys to submit plans for both sides, then match them up at random, play them out in the hotseat and come back for decision points. We'll see.

Anyway, this week's poll is back to the moderns- Armour Pen won last time so it's a choice between Infantry Firepower and Arty/CAS. Obviously everything is probably going to be BAOR flavoured.
