Rimworld Update & Name Request!

Hi everyone. As many of you know I've been alluding to the next Rimworld series being close for the last few days. I've been taking my time with this one, in no small part because I'd like to try a different format with this particular series. I'm hoping to do a bit more editing and add more polish to the episodes, so I've wanted to do my research on mods and make sure every thing is set up well before we start.

Along with that, I've spent much more time working on the setting for this series. Trying something new as far as the pilot episode goes, with a far more 'crafted' beginning in terms of characters and their backstories. 

This wouldn't have been possible without your support here on Patreon, as it's given me more breathing room, financially speaking, to take time out from producing content to keep the Dapper Doubloons flowing into the war chest (War, spelt: R, E, N, T... >_>) so I could properly consider how to tell the story (and what the story was even going to be!) 

So I want to take a moment to really thank you all for your support. While I do love my work, and I enjoy what I'm already doing, if I can do something better I want to. I get really excited by the idea of trying new things and learning new skills, and so for me, trying something like this, where I'm able to flex my creative muscles in a bit of a more direct way, is a big deal. And I really don't think I'd have felt comfortable doing it if I didn't have that financial safety net. So thanks. You're all so incredibly awesome and I'm very grateful that you enjoy what I do enough to help me do more of it!

Now, with all that said, onto names:

This series will start with 5 characters who have recently escaped from a violent power struggle in their previous faction. Both the 5 starting colonists, and 5 of the characters from their previous colony are named and have parts in the backstory of the series, these characters are listed below. Throughout the series I'll be 'renaming' pawns by giving them new nicknames, as usual. But as these characters will have a set personality and a bit of backstory prior to beginning the series, I thought instead of randomly picking names from those on the Ferret Treats tier, I'd invite you to request the characters you're interested in based on their personality. If there's more than one person interested in a character, I'll pick from amongst those people randomly as usual.

While for the 5 starting colonists I'll only be looking for Patrons on the Ferret Treats tier (thanks again, by the way... Ares & Athena eat like horses, and Ares in particular has no problem devouring toys, too, so I've had to get plenty of rugged replacements T_T ) I'd like to open the naming of the remaining 5 'World' characters to all Patrons who are interested. So just let me know which character (if any) you'd be keen to have your name as a nickname (and if you want, you can suggest a reason why they got given that nickname by their friends, too!) and once the game starts properly I'll rename the characters :)

Strong willed, brave, and with a developed sense of ethics, Misaki is a natural leader.

Charles Black (21) – Apprentice Engineer (Major Construction / Minor Combat, Crafting)

(lover) Isabel Stark

Dependable and loyal, Charles is a practical person but sometimes struggles to make hard decisions because of his "save everyone" mentality.

Kei Reis (17) – Hydro Farm Assistant (Major Plants / Minor Animals, Cooking)

(sibling) Misaki Reis

(lover) Kirsty Eversong

An impulsive and sometimes reckless young man whose heart directs his actions as often as his brain.

Kirsty Eversong (17) - Artist (Major Social / Minor Animals, Art)

(lover) Kei Reiss

Kind and gentle, Kirsty's empathy makes her a strong binding force for those around her, but she struggles to ever put her needs above others.

Eric Anderson (18) – Research Assistant (Major Intellectual / Minor Medicine, Crafting)

Brilliantly intelligent, but withdrawn, Eric finds his fellow colonists a distraction and often cannot appreciate what motivates their decisions.
