Introductions

Hello, dearest patrons! Jess (of the Shire AKA Part Time Hobbit) here.

I cannot fully express how much I appreciate your support on this page. It was a little scary setting up this Patreon, but I know it's going to be worth it to connect with all of you outside of my Youtube videos. I am so excited for this community to grow in this new welcoming, kind and creative space.

For more details on the Bagginses tier see this post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/announcement-art-112433630?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=postshare_creator&utm_content=join_link

You should have received an automatic Discord invite upon signing up, and this is the link to the google drive with the video backlog: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/102HZ7BF3Nl4VtO1S-yEoVVhZIsjPEKDG?usp=drive_link

I'll try to keep the backlog as up to date as possible, within 2-3 days of uploading a new video. Feel free to reach out to me on discord or at my email (jess.of.the.shire.business@gmail.com) if there are any issues at all with that, I'll get back to you ASAP.

Thank you again, so much, for being here, and supporting me and my channel. It means more than you could ever know. Lots of love,

-Jess

Okay never mind I found it and of course I got the name of the spider wrong sorry I guess I should have more coffee before I ask questions but I found it on the monsters video from a few months ago

Scott

Not sure if you've covered this already but what is your take on shelob The giant spider or tarantula? I'd be interested to find out if this was something that JRR Tolkien came inspiration wise from his time during the war or if this inspiration came from c.s Lewis or one of his other friends?

Scott

I have appreciated your films on YouTube for some time now, so I think the time was right to join here! Keep up the good work!

Tomas Arfert

I love your work! It's high time I subscribed, so I have. 🙂

Gary W

Same. Love the presentation and the personal take on Dune and LoTR 🙌🏻

Oskar Boëthius Lissheim

It just took one video, I'm subscribed!

Greetings & saludos from England - you are much appreciated :)

Super cool to be here!

I learned to love LOTR in College. That was a long time ago. I and my wife spent time every week reading to our children as soon as they were (almost) old enough to understand it. They all love it still! When the movies came out, my whole family went to see it on the first showing in our area. By that time I had stopped counting the number of rereads at about 15. As I expected, I had many disappointments after the first one (so many details left out and too much added in!) However, that first movie was so well done and beautifully presented that after waiting about a month, I went to an afternoon showing all by myself and allowed myself to be absorbed in the story and the music and decided I could forgive the changes. I really loved your comparison between the books and the movies. It helped me better understand why certain things were done in the move so that I appreciate it even more. The only thing I still have trouble forgiving is the portrayal of Faramir! Any way, I have for that last few months been enjoying watching your videos and have all caught up just in time for your new platform. I had to become a Patreon member! Thank you for giving well reasoned insight with a hefty dose of humor!

Happy to support you here!

Myself (along with 50 thousand other people) seemed to find you channel all at once LOL. I binged watch all the videos within a week and a half now waiting a week for your videos is like missing and old friend. :) Your videos are brilliant and I thoroughly enjoy them. You are amazing! :)

Adam

Transplant from Ko-fi, and apparently still donating to the cause there (as my first attempt to cancel my Ko-fi subscription to move here did not yield the hoped for result). Glad your channel has exploded the way it has.

Kurt Yost

So happy to be able to support this creator. I discovered her videos a few months back and I've really enjoyed the content.

Mark Librizzi

Hey Jess - so glad you set this Patreon up - love supporting the creators I actually look forward to watching each and every week. What I really enjoy about your Tolkien-related content vs some of the other channels that I sub to is your fresh take and your approach to the topics you pick, and how you choose to present them. The hands-on stuff you've done (sewing projects, cooking vids, etc where you are making things) have been some of my favorites. I also enjoy your delivery, wittiness, humor and general on-camera presence. As a long time fan of Tolkien's works, I've enjoyed the content you've produced so far, and am looking forward to seeing where you take your channel going forward, and am happy to be able to support you in some small but meaningful way as you evolve and expand it. Cheers!

Jessica Gliot

I truly appreciate you supporting me and my work for so long, Joanie! It means the world.

Jessica Gliot

Glad I finally found a simple way to support you. I became a fan in the last 60 days or so. I am enjoying your perspectives. looking forward to seeing what this becomes.

TimberWolf

I have been a devout Tolkien fan for over 50+ years now and I have never even considered in being a patron of any of the Tolkien channels, until now. That says it all.

Brian Agron

Congratulations and kudos on the Patreon and channel name change! Keep up the great content, you're conversational approach is unlike anything out there.

Scott E Christian

excited to be able to support you in this small way, Jess! you've reignited my passion for these books over the past few months and it means so much to me (and my mom! whose original copies I keep meaning to dig out and check the copyright pages on). love the channel name--i was SCANDALIZED when you said you were changing it because PTH is suuuuch a clever name, but once you explained why it makes perfect sense and this one is just as cute! also, looking forward to joining your discord and meeting fellow Tolkien nerds! I manage a couple of Discord community servers and have built some custom bots for other servers--basically if you'd be interested in having a unique discord bot people can interact with who will take on a Tolkien character of your choosing, that's a service I offer so hit me up! 🤗

Michelle Carpenter

I'm so pleased to be amongst the first of your dearborn patreons of yours Jess. I was thankfully introduced to your channel just before your channel expanded hugely back in May. Your charm and delivery certainly enthralled, so why not for me on my end to impart my support for your zeal in this. My regards, Joanie.

Best of luck with the new channel name! The new name is great, and I think it will work out fine.

Zaister

Yay! Exciting that we can be supportive here and looking forward to everything you have in store! Also I think the new channel name is perfect and will be better in the long term.
